Rokudou No Onna-tachi

16 September, 2023

Oh. Just like we need another delinquent anime. But make it a harem somewhat. Sort of. Rokudou No Onna-tachi may sound like a badass title until you get to know that the titular main character is a plain and weak as f*ck ordinary high school student. But somehow a strange spell casted upon him has him attract flocks of bad girls to his side! Imagine a little harmless cute looking rabbit in a den full of vicious lions. And the rabbit is the one ruling over those lions! Yup, that’s how I mostly see this. Can delinquent girls protect a wuss guy from being bullied? If you want to get your ass handed by these ladies, be my guest. And you thought nice girls always fall for the wrong bad guys. So I suppose the opposite is also true because bad girls can also fall for the nice guys. Is this how the law of opposite attraction works?

Episode 1
Tousuke Rokudou is often bulled by Haruya Iinuma and his circle. Luckily, Rokudou has his own loser pals to confide with, Masaru “Colonel” Hinomoto and Kouta “Chief” Kijima. Yeah, they can’t do much too. When the losers gather at Rokudou’s place, there seems to be a strange delivery package for Rokudou from his late grandpa. Thinking this scroll has some mystic powers in it, Rokudou tries it for size and now gets some weird onmyouji symbol on his head. Next day on his way to Amori High School, he gets mugged. Yeah, don’t believe this onmyouji power sh*t will save him, do you?! However the girl tells the guys to stop picking on this guy. In class, Iinuma is about to pick on Rokudou again but his girl, Tsubaki Tachibana tells him to stop and to pick on his loser pals instead. Later Tsubaki even apologizes to Rokudou and promises not to pick on him again. The friends believe the onmyouji power must have some sort of effect as they notice bad girls are noticing Rokudou. When Iinuma confronts Rokudou and accuses him of doing something to Tsubaki (because her handphone wallpaper is now Rokudou’s face!), Rokudou then remembers grandpa’s words about the scroll. It makes you attract bad girls! Panic, he runs away but bumps into Ranna Himawari. Yup, a bad girl who is just fresh beating the hell out of a group of delinquent guys! Her hand is covered with blood!

Next day, Ranna becomes a transfer student in Rokudou’s class! Takeru Tsunoyama tries to act tough to find out more about her but she ignores him. Only when Rokudou asks, she eagerly and nicely responds. And when Takeru punches Rokudou, Ranna whacks his head with her table!!! No surprise he ends up in hospital, doesn’t remember much and if he does, gets traumatized over her monstrous strength. Iinuma is now wary of her because some of her buddies who got pummelled by her too relate brute force and is now afraid of her. Rokudou can’t take it anymore and tries to run away but his friends don’t want to be victims if he isn’t around. Plus, is he going to abandon a girl? Some weird interpretation of what constitutes a girl for Rokudou. Because they have thighs?! Because Ranna wears a long skirt and can’t see her thighs, IS SHE A WOMAN OR NOT BY YOUR DEFINITION?! Anyway, he vows to protect her bur Ranna misinterprets that and vows to slaughter all the delinquents he hates tomorrow morning! Next day, more bad chicks draw closer to Rokudou. They only leave because the top apex predator lioness AKA Ranna is showing her foul mood. Later Iinuma confronts Rokudou. He warns him about the recent events and vows to beat his ass up. The friends get scared and think Rokudou should seek Ranna’s help. Rokudou is about to do so but notices Ranna a bit messed up. Several delinquents approached her and although they were easily taken care off, she kept her promise to him by not fighting back or at least do any fatal moves. This is when Rokudou realizes his worth as a man. He was about to ask Ranna to break a promise he made for her. In order to be manly, he will settle this himself. This means calling out to Iinuma and facing the delinquent himself. My, his legs are wobbly. Need to go to the toilet first?

Episode 2
Rokudou gets a taste of what real punch feels like. Ouch. When Iinuma says they should be grateful to be alive despite being bottom of the ladder, this is when Rokudou snaps and disagrees. Then here comes Ranna. His friends told her about this and needs her help. However as she is still sticking to her promise, she can only seethe in anger as she watches Iinuma throw more punches at Rokudou. Despite all that, Rokudou won’t fall. But at his limit, it was when Rokudou eked out Ranna’s help. In a flash, she jumps in to punch the aggressor. It’s like Iinuma’s life flashed before his eyes. Once a weakling, he was bullied for being afraid of thunder and lightning. And now Iinuma has fallen. Oh damn, one punch sukeban?! Iinuma might be fine in hospital but he has no regrets. Because Rokudou isn’t as weak as he thinks he is. Next day, Rokudou and his friends bask in the kindness of their class rep, Mizue Tsuyukusa. Is she the only normal person in this class of losers and delinquents?! Later Iinuma calls Rokudou to hang out and eat with him. He also introduces his other delinquent lackeys from another school. Hey, isn’t one of them the guy who tried to mug him?! Rokudou pretends he never met him before and they all become friends over ramen. When it’s over, Iinuma warns him that he is being targeted by Amori’s top delinquent, Osanada. True enough, Osanada’s lackey approaches Rokudou to tell him to meet the big boss. Iinuma asks Rokudou’s next action. Will he run or fight? If it’s the latter, Iinuma will stand up for him. However his loser friends want him to rethink this. Rokudou notes that he won’t run away anymore and all this happened because he stood his ground. The friends agree to stand by him and live out their normal school life. Of course Iinuma won’t just be on Rokudou’s side. He’s got Ranna too. Rokudou will settle this as he learns the shocking truth that Osanada is actually a girl! Sayuri Osanada!

Next day, this loli girl waltzes right into Rokudou’s class just to pick a fight with him. Well, something’s wrong. The spell isn’t working and Osanada hasn’t fallen in love with him. When she sees Ranna and grosses out at thinking she is Rokudou’s girl, Rokudou thinks because she doesn’t understand the concept of love, that’s why the spell doesn’t activate. The girls are about to get dirty but Rokudou will not allow that and wants to talk. Osanada has had it so she punches him. Only, her punch is weak?! She tests it out on Colonel and damn he is sent flying! Spell is working but in some mysterious ways. Then she takes him to talk. Her base is in an old building of the school and damn, she got a room here?! Decorated everything so cutely. She says she likes cute things and then when she takes a closer look at him and finds him cute, Rokudou believes the spell is taking effect. However this also has him flashback of his first love. His childhood friend, Miyu was a prim and proper girl. Until a few years later she got a boyfriend and turned into a delinquent! 100% changed into a different person! Not the kind of first love he envisioned. Hence he doesn’t want to same to befall on Osanada since she is showing symptoms that she might be falling for him. So uhm, he is going to turn her into a good girl?!

Episode 3
Time to go back to class. Oh, did Osanada mention that she got held back twice so she is actually in the same grade as him?! And in his class?! Rokudou thinks this would be a good idea because now that she is interested in coming to class, he can help reform her. Hence for the oral report, Rokudou suggests doing flower observations. Some punks dislike the idea so Osanada calls them out and wants to beat the sh*t out of them! Of course Rokudou says violence is bad so Osanada backs down and votes in favour of his idea. If that’s the case, everybody also agrees. Wow. Seeing delinquents observing the flower garden. Weird! But soon, one of Osanada’s lackeys, Kurokata wants her to meet and join up with the Onishima Union as this is their big chance to become the top and unbeatable. However Osanada prefers to stay in school and wants to quit this delinquent stuff. Kurokata won’t give up yet so he sets up some of the delinquent classmates to trample the flower garden. When Osanada sees this, she becomes mad. Kurokata betrays them and points out they’re the one who did it. By the time Rokudou comes to check on her, she has beaten up all those guys. Kurokata says this is her true form but Rokudou remains stubborn that she is sweet and nice girl. This is when Osanada admits that this is what love feels like.

She admits she loves him but goes with Kurokata to meet the Onishima Union guys. Obviously they don’t believe this little kid is tough enough so see for yourself and learn the hard way how Osanada hands their asses to them. This is all part of Kurokata’s way to climb up to the top using Osanada as his secret weapon. A sad Rokudou seeks Ranna’s help. Anything, my dear. She wants her help to save Osanada from bad guys and to not get injured. Anything for you, my dear. As Osanada has doubts about accepting to join the gang, here comes Rokudou. He starts reading the oral report. When other punks try to take him out, this is where Ranna comes in to fend them off. Osanada is confused as she could only stare at the mayhem. Then Kurokata throws a few punches at Rokudou. However he doesn’t fall and continues reading until he finishes. The ultimate clincher is that he knows she has it hard trying to live up to her reputation of being the strongest. She doesn’t have to do what she doesn’t want and can start again at school. Osanada protects Rokudou from Kurokata’s attack. She tells him she’s going to continue school. With the Onishima Union having reinforcements, Rokudou’s friends are here to help them escape. Kurokata won’t be going with them as he’ll find his own way. As they escape, Osanada notes she’ll give up on Rokudou because she believes he and Ranna are already an item. She’s glad she felt this way about him.

Episode 4
Azami Himeno loves police bikes and aspires to be one to ride one. But she can’t wait so she’s dressing all up and riding one now! Uhm, is this illegal? Meanwhile Rokudou just got his bike licence so he can go riding anywhere with his friends. Too bad Iinuma gives him this lame looking delinquent bike! Rokudou would love to turn it down but seeing how he gave it to him as friends, you bet he’ll accept this. As he goes for a ride, suddenly Azami rides up before and starts whacking his bike! OMG! Is this legal?! Since she’s a bad girl, the charm activates and in her swooning state, this allows Rokudou to escape. Soon Azami goes to Amori to introduce herself to return the student ID he dropped. Each time she thinks of him as a delinquent, she starts seeing him as her prince charming. She tries to get him never to ride bikes again but he can’t. WTF she cries and runs away? Soon she returns with a sidecar and wants him to ride. He only obliges so as not to make her cry again. However this is to show how scary bikes are so he won’t ride again! Speed demon! At the end of the day, I believe it is Azami whom he is more afraid of rather than the bike. Are you sure you want to walk all the way from the next prefecture home? This time she rides gently on the way back. Azami assures as long as he doesn’t ride any of those vulgar delinquent bikes, he can ride as much as he wants. Then she tells him her reason so. Apparently a real police biker saved her from one. It became her dream ever since then. Azami would love to join his friends in tomorrow’s ride but she has something that she must settle with. On his way back, Rokudou encounters a guy who is asking if he has seen someone impersonating as a police and beating up delinquent bikes. He claims many of his friends have been injured by her. Rokudou is shocked to see Azami’s picture as the culprit. But Rokudou also recognizes this guy’s ring from Onishima Union so he says nothing further.

Rokudou returns to tell his friends all about this so Colonel wonders if he is going to stick his neck out for every bad girl he comes across. If that is the case, his dream school life will never be achievable. Iinuma then describes that guy whom Rokudou met. He is Aoi Furukawa and the third strongest in Onishima Union. While he is polite and nice, on a bike he becomes a demon. Rumours had it he caused injuries to a motorcycle cop so bad he never rode again. Rokudou’s decision is to go talk to Azami. How? He doesn’t have her contacts. Well, ride those lame delinquent bikes to catch her attention! True enough she comes chasing them. Luckily Rokudou shows his identity before she gets unruly. Flashback shows how a motorcycle cop came to her rescue from delinquents. She got infatuated with him and started feigning a few close accidents just to ride with his bike. Because riding is freedom! Really? I guess she needed something of that sort rather than her stifling and strict rich girl upbringing. But one day, that cop got into an accident so bad and the culprit behind it was Aoi. That is why she will never forgive him and will go settle the score. And so Rokudou’s persuasion fails. Aoi and his gang are preparing to take on Azami in tomorrow’s rally. Rokudou and his friends contemplate on their next move. As Rokudou puts it, it is only right to save a girl when they’re in trouble. Because if they turn a blind eye to do what is right, they’ll never achieve anything. I hope they have a better plan than just capturing Aoi.

Episode 5
Azami already engaging in a street race with Aoi? He leads her to the rest of his pack waiting. He wants her to join him but of course she refuses. Azami is not alone now because Rokudou and his friends are here. In their lame delinquent bikes! Flashback shows Aoi bored with life so he did things that dice with death for thrill. Including dangerous stunts on a bike on public road. Aoi suggests playing a death match game of tag. Rokudou’s friends will try to catch him who is it on a bike. Doing so means they win and he’ll do whatever they want. The catch is that Rokudou will sit with Aoi. If he flies off, game over and Aoi wins. Rokudou takes up the challenge. Look at him cling on so tightly to Aoi! The duel begins as Aoi and Azami race ahead. Iinuma and the rest stall the other biker gangs. Damn, they crash their bike to crash theirs and block the entire road?! Then they do some fist fighting but Iinuma beats them all. When more Onishima Union guys turn up, now it is Ranna on a chopper bursting their tyres! Apparently Rokudou left her out of this because she doesn’t want to get her involved. But Chief wants Ranna to help Rokudou and bring him back. Ranna instead will believe in Rokudou and will wait right here till he returns. More of Aoi flashback as he now remembers who Azami is. While during dangerous stunts, a policeman tried to stop him. However he dared him to catch up and damn, the policeman can also do some pretty neat stunts! He advised Aoi to stop because he has become too addicted and dependent on his bike. Riding should be free. Aoi accepts that logic and will follow it if he beats him. But as Aoi sped up the corner and hit a bumpy pothole, he fell off although the policeman caught him. However his bike was heading straight for Azami standing there. The policeman must be a superhuman as he managed to actually stop it from colliding with her! It cost him his riding ability. Aoi panicked and fled the scene.

Now Aoi claims Azami doesn’t care about her own life and will do anything it takes to get revenge. Look at those monster eyes. Will Rokudou pull off some of his magic to make her stop? Well, he claims he can. He turns around to face her and asks if she is scared. Because he is scared of her ending up in an accident and dying. She admits she is but if she doesn’t put herself in such danger, it’ll hurt even much more. Rokudou says it’s okay to feel this way. He is also scared so let’s fight together. Aoi speeds up at the dangerous curve. He thought Rokudou has fallen off but he is still hanging on and Azami has caught him. They win. As they return, Rokudou apologizes to Ranna for lying but she’s happy he is back. Aoi’s loss means the gang belongs to her. He also gives her the contact of the policeman where she can find him. She will also make him live up to his promise and that is both of them go see the policeman. He may not be able to ride anymore but he is still doing normal police job. The policeman happy to see Aoi, bringing him to tears. Life’s been fun up till now, right? Now it is time for Rokudou and friends’ to go for a ride. Rokudou rides with Azami (poor Ranna left sulking) and he might still be afraid of her riding ‘safely’. Safely as in maintaining a speed of 100kmph!!! Hold on tight to your horses!

Episode 6
A couple of girls from another school are curious to see that bad boy who can make girls swoon. Well, going to get more what they bargained for as they see delinquent girls fighting over to carry Rokudou’s bag. And then with Azami coming by in a bike while Ranna and Osanada busting through the walls, you bet they better run for their lives! We hear Mizue narrate she chose Amori because it’s closest to where she lives. Now she regrets it because of delinquents. But making it bearable is because of Rokudou as he is kind. However recently he changed and now he is like the boss of delinquents! As Rokudou and pals hang out, when Rokudou goes to get snacks, everyone in the room becomes wary of Ranna. Because she hardly talks to them. But Osanada gets it going by asking her several stuffs as she answers like a machine. Rokudou returns and she gladly tells him everything he wants to know about her. Uhm, her answers are all different now. Later Rokudou gives Ranna a hair tie as thanks for always helping him. So she’ll never cut her hair again? As Rokudou and co clean the classroom, Ranna is excited to be paired with him. Only, Osanada decides to teach her some stuffs and pairs with her. That sulking face… Yeah, the duo is like tearing down the class rather than cleaning it! Eventually the cleaning is done and Osanada is sleeping on Ranna’s lap like a baby. Such a beautiful sight?

Iinuma wants the gang to meet up but he slept in. So the girls meet up first and because Ranna shows up in her usual uniform, Tsubaki notes that Rokudou would love to see her in a different outfit and she can score more points. Hence the girls go shopping for some clothes. Leave it to Tsubaki the fashion maestro. I don’t know about it but they sure look casually weird. They meet up with the rest at the café as Rokudou compliments Ranna’s feminine dress. But he thought the reason she didn’t wear his hair tie was because it is lame. The reason she is wearing it on her wrist is because tying it up means she won’t be able to look at it. Doing so makes her happy like as though she is with him. It’s her treasure. Iinuma gets down to business in discussing about Onishima Union. Because Rokudou has defeated Aoi, now his name is well known. This means the gang won’t let him off the hook. And there are many other gangs too although Onishima Union is the biggest. The leader of this is Doji Matsugamiya. MICHAEL JACKSON???!!! Iinuma adds about the gang’s history that they got disbanded 2 years ago after losing a fight with another rival gang. At that time Doji was a nobody but he somehow managed to rebuild the gang back up in 1 year and now he is their leader. Iinuma is worried on how to fight them but Rokudou’s immediate answer is to apologize. Might sound weak but this is to make it clear he has no intentions of giving them trouble. Since everybody agrees to this, looks like Iinuma has to agree on this weak sh*t tactic. Meanwhile Doji and his officers have found the school where Rokudou goes. They think Doji wants to see the guy who took down Aoi but he couldn’t care less about him. He is happy to have found Ranna.

Episode 7
Flashback shows how Onishima Union was destroyed singlehandedly by somebody… Ranna! So as Rokudou is trying to figure out how to apologize, Tsubaki comes in with the big news: Those Onishima Union guys are here! Got to go apologize fast now! But to everyone’s shock, they are going to be new transfer students in Rokudou’s class?! Does this room have enough seats?! Other than Doji, the rest of the generals are Yui Yashiya, Kouhei Akai, Wakanosuke Hando and the Sumire siblings, Raino and Kazeno. More shockingly, Doji announcing they are not here to fight and is impressed with Rokudou in bringing down Aoi. He is the reason why they transfer here. Because of misunderstandings, the group has become feared so he hopes the gang can be one that people relies on. Wow. This class is going to be a powerhouse with all these great delinquents in it. Later we hear Doji discussing with his gang that he finds Rokudou as harmless and no threat. It is Ranna whom he has the chills about. Despite fearing her, he still wants to get her to join their team. Rokudou and his pals discuss about the newbies but as Chief puts it, despite there are bad girls, after meeting people like Ranna, Osanada and Azami, they’re all just sweet girls. As Rokudou leaves the toilet, Raino comes in. The spell has an effect as Rokudou now fears it has an effect on bad boys?! REALLY?! Raino chases him down and then reveals that she is actually a girl! It is Kazeno who is a boy. Both siblings cross-dress. So don’t feel her up because as seen, she beats the sh*t out of you! Anyway, Raino also warns about Doji. He has this strange ability to tell if you are lying or not.

Speaking of which, Doji is trying to talk to Ranna despite being scared but he still fires away although she does not answer. He is surprised he cannot figure her out until Rokudou returns and he sees her happy expression. He believes Rokudou is the key to her. As Doji and co start hanging out, there is a rival school that beats up Amori students but nothing like Onishima Union couldn’t handle as they dish out their punishment and become overnight heroes. Uhm, is it me or did they skip this arc or something? Because now the school cultural festival is nearing and to Rokudou’s disappointment, the discussion ends quickly. Yeah, everybody just deciding to do a yakisoba stall. Rokudou wanted to do a play and hence Ranna stands up and says that the class WILL be doing a play! With Doji agreeing, everybody also agrees. Later Kazeno confronts Rokudou and thinks he has done something to his sister as she is acting a bit effeminate now. Rokudou denies and accidentally touches his boobs. Kazeno freaks out and to protect Raino’s promise, Rokudou paints himself as a pervert so Kazeno beats him up and vows not to let him near his sister. Rokudou and Ranna discuss what play they are going to do. Talking about fairytales, Ranna thinks of heading down to the library to get some reference books. It is then Yashiya comes in to talk to Rokudou. She explains she joined Onishima Union because she likes strong men. Long story short, she is attracted to Rokudou and finds him strong! Oh sh*t! Her vision of him is like Jojo strong????!!! Before she could hand him her love letter, Ranna returns. No b*tch showdown. Yashiya leaves as she notes if there is one thing she hates, it is strong women. She is going to give him her love via formal challenge.

Episode 8
While Rokudou is out to get some materials for a play, he stumbles into a group of biker girls known as Ryuugu. Yes, they find this kid charming and want to hang out. Their leader, Erika Otohime talks some sense into them, the problem they’re giving Rokudou. She explains Ryuugu was once a delinquent group from the next town but now a law abiding biker group that only rides around. When Ranna is here to pick him up, Otohime jumps to hug her. It’s been a long time. Yes, both girls know each other. 2 years ago when Ryuugu was still a delinquent and beating up other groups, they met their match until Ranna came along to let off some steam and beat up the enemies. Otohime offered her to join but she wasn’t interested until she was offered food. With Ranna by their side, Ryuugu was unstoppable. Otohime gave her this wooden sword. Until Onishima Union busted them while the duo weren’t around. Otohime then thought this was the end of the road and disbanded the group before it got worse. Ranna left and was never seen since. Glad they could see her again, they look forward to visit their school festival. As the class make further preparations for the play, suddenly Doji and his generals just walk away. They have their own meeting. Based on Kouhei’s photo of Rokudou, Ranna and Otohime, now it is time to act to reel in Ranna. Raino wishes to postpone this after the festival but Doji beats her up for talking back to show her place.

Soon, news spread that Ryuugu attacked one of their Amori students. He announces Onishima Union will fight them. Rokudou is not so sure about that until Raino is brought in injured and claims Ryuugu did this to him. With that, everybody is crying blood on Ryuugu. Doji offers Rokudou to join him but he declines. Because of that, he gets ostracized. He agonizes over it alone but eventually feels the need to do something. Thankfully Iinuma believes in him as they brainstorm about Doji’s ulterior motive. Then they put the pieces of the puzzle together. What does Rokudou and Ryuugu have in common? Ranna! Or the letter ‘R’! HAHAHA!!! Anyway, speaking of her, Doji confronts her and talks about her beloved Rokudou is now an outcast. For Rokudou to live his dream of a normal school life, 3 things must happen: 1) Elimination of Ryuugu; 2) Doji siding with Rokudou so that he won’t be excluded; 3) The most important one is whereby must get out of Rokudou’s life. Because she is the source of his problems. He wants her to join Onishima Union to crush Ryuugu. Fulfil all that and Rokudou’s peaceful school life is guaranteed. Her answer? She rabidly attacks him! Doji is confused that the key did not unlock her heart. As he gets desperate, he gets lucky saying the buzzword of being considerate for Rokudou’s feelings. Yeah, conveniently he recently told her something about being considerate. By the time Rokudou and Iinuma rush back to class, Ranna is nowhere. But Doji tells him that Ranna is now with Onishima Union and will help fight against Ryuugu. He dares Rokudou to come down to hell to understand this underworld they are living in and that he doesn’t live in the same world as them.

Episode 9
Before Rokudou has time to get depressed, Iinuma tells him what needs to be done. This time of course he is not alone. Chief and Colonel tailed suspicious girls claimed to be from Onishima Union and saw them beat up one of their Amori students. They soon discover they were the Sumire siblings in disguise. Rokudou’s plan now is to stop Ryuugu from coming here. By doing so, they can prevent her fight with Otohime as well as get a chance to get Ranna back. On the day of the festival, Rokudou’s side split themselves to go look for Ryuugu. Raino comes up to Rokudou and Colonel and apologizes that he has betrayed Onishima Union just to be with them. She is willing to fight her brother because she believes in Rokudou. But Rokudou won’t accept this. He wants to go convince everyone together. When Ryuugu is spotted, Raino suddenly takes out Rokudou and Colonel. Actually this is the eldest brother of the Sumire siblings, Amano! Previously, Raino was confronted by Doji and Kazeno about which side she would choose. Because she loves Rokudou and will side him, that was when Amano popped up and beat the sh*t out of him to remind her place. Now she is tied up and confined while Kazeno is hell bent in taking down Rokudou. When Ryuugu arrives, they are led into the gym where Hando and his guys are waiting. But this Ryuugu is fake and turns out to be Azami and Aoi’s guys dressed as girls! Previously during the discussion, because Rokudou doesn’t know how to contact Ryuugu, they needed a backup. Yes, Azami was it. Realizing they’ve been duped, Hando and gang rush back to the front gate. The real Ryuugu has arrived as Tsubaki tells them to run away. With Amori students also itching for a fight, many manage to get away as Otohime trade blows with Yashiya. Not until Hando takes a Ryuugu member hostage, Otohime quietly goes with them. By the time Rokudou’s side arrive, Tsubaki relays the bad news that Otohime has been taken prisoner. Then a call reminder from Doji for Rokudou to give up now or they’ll become Onishima Union’s real enemies. This is for everyone’s sake since the only way for everybody to be happy is for Rokudou to cut ties with Ranna. However Rokudou tells him off their happiness is not for them to decide. Even if Doji claims Ranna cannot find normal happiness, Rokudou promises to make Ranna happy! Sounds like a proposal, eh? How unfortunate. Time to get the final plan rolling as Doji calls for Ranna. We see the promise Ranna made to join them and if they so much hurt Rokudou, they’ll all die.

Episode 10
Doji is going to make Ranna fight Otohime. Do that and save Rokudou. Azami gives Rokudou and co a ride into the school building. Can her bike handle that many people clinging on?! Unfortunately they are stopped by Hando. Osanada will face him while she lets the rest go. Osanada tries to talk to him at first and knows he is a good guy. However he starts fighting her to prove otherwise. He claims Doji is his saviour because before he met him, he was always ridiculed for whatever he does or says. Until the day Doji told him to just focus on his strength and let him do all the thinking, all the taunting stopped. That is why he will continue to believe in him and follow his orders. Osanada understands what he is saying since she too was once like that. But letting others think for you will only lead to your downfall. At the end of this David vs Goliath fight, Osanada lets him punch all he’s got at her. Nothing. Then she returns the favour and sends him flying. Hando is shocked that he lost a bout of strength. That is his only strength. Without it, he is nothing but a brute. Osanada claims Rokudou has always been there to look out for her. So now she will do the same for him. So go ahead and screw up. Really? The rest now come into Kouhei. Iinuma fights him but Kouhei uses his head to fight and knocks him out soon. Then he continues to beat everyone else except for Rokudou because Doji’s others are to hurt anyone but him. So as he breaks Chief’s finger, all Kouhei wants is Rokudou’s confirmation that he will stay away from Ranna and this will all end. After all, all this happened because of his choice. Iinuma has a flashback whereby he and his friends formed a pack and thought they were the strongest. However those friends betrayed him when they joined Kouhei just because he threatened their family. Iinuma was left to rue Tsubaki’s words about this and that’s why he grew to hate weak people gathering together like Rokudou. But now it’s different. Rokudou had friends who cared for each other till the end. He realizes it was his own weakness that failed to protect them. Chief gives Kouhei a surprise punch and claims he would rather die than abandon his friend. Iinuma has his eyes opened. He wants to fight together and breaks his own finger? This is to throw Kouhei off since he did not expect Iinuma to punch with his broken hand. Iinuma lets the rest head off to Ranna while he finishes off this guy. Iinuma knows how Kouhei fights now and since he cannot dodge moves he doesn’t anticipate, Kouhei takes a big one. Rokudou and co now stumble into Amano. Rokudou thinks he will fight this one because of Doji’s orders not to hurt him. But Amano notes Kazeno is willing to disobey that order and kick Rokudou’s ass.

Episode 11
As Colonel and Chief try to attack Amano, he sniffs them out with the fire extinguisher. He then badmouths about Raino wanting the normal life and Rokudou isn’t going to have any of that. As Kazeno restrains Rokudou, WTF he pecks him?! Turns out this is actually Raino! Flashback shows how Raino managed to convince Kazeno to swap places. A narration on how the triplets were always together. However Amano as the strongest was the leader as the duo were always following him in his shadows. It was Amano who taught them how to do makeup and fighting. As Amano’s pranks get more and more risky, his disdain for the normal life soon has him and his siblings join Onishima Union. Raino fights Amano but seems to be losing out as all the moves were taught by him. But soon it is Amano who is fighting for his life as Raino shows some of her own skills she developed and defeats him. Amano then starts to feel afraid of her leaving him. Please don’t go! Raino then shows her tongue and mocks him. Today she has won their sibling quarrel. After all, the Sumire siblings will always be together. Rokudou has reached the top but gets pulled in by Yashiya. WTF all these torture devices?! He thought he would not harm her but damn, she whips him! She reveals that she doesn’t care about Doji’s orders because she joined Onishima Union to match make. You see, she likes strong guys. She join this just for that but couldn’t find any until she met Rokudou. Holy f*ck! Rokudou looks like Jojo in her eyes?! RokuJojo?! Then she turns into a BDSM queen and whips him more. This thrill is turning her on. However there are moments where she is afraid of him, thinking he is showing his true strength. Rokudou thinks of using this to his advantage as he tries to lie his way through with his fake strength. Too bad this only excites her more. During all that, she trips and falls out of the window. Rokudou saves her. Is this love she is now feeling in her heart? But with Rokudou looking so much stronger, she is so infatuated that she passes out! Yeah. I guess we’re done with this. Rokudou then arrives at the rooftop. Oh Doji, you looking surprised how he get passed your generals? Rokudou tries to call out to Ranna but she doesn’t listen and continues attacking Otohime who is only defending. Doji restrains Rokudou as he tells him the reason why he is top of Onishima Union is because he can give what people want. For Ranna, it is violence. Rokudou manages to get in between the ladies before Ranna finishes a tired Otohime. He tells her to stop since she shouldn’t be hurting friends. She understands but gives back the hair tie. Uhm, why? Because this is where they say goodbye.

Episode 12
Ranna claims Rokudou is a good person but herself not so. She never understood what he finds enjoyable and only finds happiness in his company. In fact, she doesn’t even call Otohime her friend. Rokudou feels sad that this is all because of that spell. He is weak and relies on it. That is why he vows to get stronger so she can have more fun in school. Ranna leaves with Doji but not so fast. Rokudou reminds him that he is the one who will bring Ranna happiness. Yes, he wants to fight Doji. Doji doesn’t mind as long as Ranna agrees. In fact, Rokudou wants Ranna to stay out of this. Obviously Doji beats him up while Ranna can only watch in agony. Doji thinks this will have an opposite effect. The more she watches Rokudou getting beaten up, the more she is determined to leave him. Rokudou continues to get beaten up although he keeps fighting back. This is when Rokudou’s pals arrive. Colonel reminds Rokudou that all the people he encountered and saved, it was all because of his own strength. Hence his friends are his strength. Doji realizes his own comrades aren’t coming and that he has only himself. He takes it that all of them wants a piece of him. Well, time for Thanos vs everybody moment. As he beats them up, they wonder why he is so obsessed with Ranna. Time for Doji to tell us his story that he was often bullied. So scared of being a victim, he realized to be safe, he need strong ones by his side. So he honed his skills to identify what people want and give it to them in exchange for their protection. Hence the need for Onishima Union as he started working his way up. However it was all not enough. Until he got report of Aoi’s group got taken down by Rokudou although it was Ranna who did the work. It was then he realized he needed Ranna who was the strongest. So basically, love at first sight? So Ranna is his?

Rokudou scoffs off Doji’s words of treating Ranna like a machine. He knows Ranna treats Otohime as a friend even if she doesn’t realize it. Because he notices Ranna never used her wooden sword against her as it is a sign of their friendship. Rokudou’s gang continue to fight, get pummelled, get back up again, rinse and repeat. Meanwhile Otohime tries to talk to Ranna and ask why she is in love with Rokudou. It is something about him that gives power to others to change. She hopes she can see the kindness he has fostered in her. With everyone continuing to fight back, Doji starts to get scared. The tables are turned. He remembers muttering about Rokudou being a normal person who doesn’t feel fear at all. Those words are now haunting him. But what’s this? Ranna protecting Doji? She talks to Rokudou that she only loves violence and doesn’t care about everyone else except Rokudou. It is hard to believe she has kindness inside of her. However she trusts him more than she trusts herself. This means she wants to be by his side again. Rokudou returns her hair tie and promises she won’t regret it. When Doji’s comrades come, he starts blaming them for their failure. They failed to protect him and that’s why they lost. He tells them to go away but they won’t. They still consider him his boss. With that, Doji realizes he still needs their protection and calls for a retreat since they lost. In the aftermath, Raino and Kazeno enrol in this school, Doji relaunches Onishima Union with a new recruitment drive, Yashiya went missing. And now Rokudou’s class get on with their Momotarou play. Uhm, Ranna forgetting her lines? But she surprises everyone as for the first time she addresses everyone by their names! Not part of the script but everyone happy. Rokudou notes he will meet more bad girls but knows he will get by because of his friends.

Bad Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Imagine the whole Rokudou vs Doji finale to put it in the simplest word is about 2 guys fighting over a girl! Hah! Weird if you put it that way but yeah, that’s what it basically boils down to. Considering Rokudou won in the end, so it’s like his justice prevailed? Not sure if this means Doji will be back for her once he regains stronger members. Perhaps he won’t even need her if he finds stronger people. But as the final montage showed, lots of really strange characters that I presume Rokudou is going to meet in the future so yeah, I wonder if this is part of his dream school life or if this is God’s way to keep on testing him to see if he is worthy to keep that kind of lifestyle. But that’s a story for another time. Assuming they make a sequel.

The story is simple and straightforward. Oh heck, not much of a plot to begin with. I don’t know if this is the case because of the spell, Rokudou’s life has seemingly turned for the better or worse? My guts say the former because had Rokudou not become a bad girl chick magnet, he will continue to live his weak pathetic life as a bully victim. Now with that mystic spell on his forehead, he might have attracted bigger problems and become the target of others but I guess this is much better compared to his previous life since it makes him realize what is more important and hence he is able to make decisions and actions that would lead to the benefit of everyone around him. Rather than say a spineless coward. So I guess the whole plot of this series is for Rokudou to amass his group of bad girls into his unofficial harem. Oh well, as it grows bigger, looks like more women to please and consider about her welfare! I don’t think Rokudou is a rich guy either…

Love it or hate it, Rokudou is one of those few protagonists who is as weak as f*ck! I suppose this is to give him some room to grow over the course of the season but as we have seen, he still remains as weak as f*ck! Well, at least physically. Sometimes it gets a bit annoying and especially his ideal of not resorting to violence and wanting to be friends. Feels so unbelievable because well, we’re dealing with delinquents and the only way they understand is through the fist! Hence with Rokudou resorting to pacifist methods even in the most dire of straits, it just feels unbelievable and downright irritating. However you have to give him credit that it actually works! So now who is the one being the real badass?

While Rokudou might remain physically weak, his strength is in the bonds and the importance he placed with his friends. That is the unbreakable fortress that not even I believe God or Satan can destroy! As mentioned, with this new direction in life, he now has to think about the welfare of others around him because it’s the only and perhaps the best method of living out his dream of a normal school life. Now he is able to take proactive measures and at least voice out what he wants to do. I mean, it’s not like anybody in his circle will go against him, right? Especially the girls. If that is what he wants, so be it. And because he protected those smiles, in return they also help protect him. Ah yes, the power of friendship. Such a beautiful thing.

If there is one thing that has been boggling my mind since the start, it is about the delinquents and school. I noticed that there are no teachers or any teaching staffs at school! Where are the freaking teachers or adults! Are they so scared in dealing with these bad kids that they all resign or fear to come to school! Oh heck, my conspiracy theory says that this isn’t an actual school and it is some sort of mental asylum housing mentally retarded people trying to play delinquents! This is why the delinquents are always doing their own things in the classroom and no teacher has ever been seen teaching the class. They are free to do anything they please without any adult supervision. So how did Rokudou and his weak pals get put here in the first place? Uhm, maybe the admin mixed up their files and put them in the wrong asylum. Heh. Otherwise, how do you explain these good people who stick out like a sore thumb as the only good kids in this school of delinquents! How can this even happen?! And to think that there are other delinquent schools around, OMG, is this some sort of weird experiment like Hunger Games or Maze Runner thingy?! Even more so, where are Rokudou’s parents! Do they know he is getting bullied?! What are they doing about it?! Unless they never existed because there are no adults in this world!

Hence to prove my mental asylum theory right, this is why Rokudou have friends with guys who look and dress like some sort of adult profession. Uh huh. What kind of school lets their students dress up as some casual military dude and typical looking office boss? Not unless these pals have some sort of mental issues too! And yeah, Rokudou could be the biggest crook of them all because his grandpa had that whatever illegal scroll that caused Rokudou to be a babe magnet. What if Rokudou is actually the baddest and the most violent of delinquents and that after putting on that spell, he lost his memories?! Oh, what about the weak and bullied Rokudou before the spell? They’re trolling us with altered memories! Okay, enough with the sick conspiracy theories. Just want to say that Colonel and Chief are there to show us that Rokudou’s friendship has paid off and that birds of the same feather flock together. In other words, friendship loyalty. It goes a long way for them.

A bunch of weak guys would be too confusing. That’s why they added Iinuma into Rokudou’s groupie so as to have some sort of firepower. You’re not going to expect to let Ranna and other strong girls do all the fighting, no? So Iinuma is the classic case of yesterday’s enemy is today’s friend. We saw his past on the reason why he picked on Rokudou but like many bullies, he was just a weakling and the weakest. So it’s a good thing Iinuma turned over a new leaf and siding and supporting Rokudou is part of his redemption. Like an atonement for all the bullying he has brought upon Rokudou.

At the top of the pecking order of Rokudou’s bad girls harem is Ranna. She could be the sole reason why Rokudou doesn’t amass more girls at an alarming rate. Yeah, you don’t want to go up with this brute gorilla lioness. Anyway, Ranna is one very strange girl. Being the toughest of the lot, however she becomes all meek whenever it concerns about Rokudou. The devil has become a gentle giant. Rokudou’s word is law for her. In a way, making her look like a retard! I mean, perhaps she is stoic but sometimes her very limited vocabulary usage makes you wonder if she is so. But her strength is real and you don’t really want to get on her bad side. Or her bad mood. Either way, you’re screwed.

Other girls in Rokudou’s group play more of a supporting role. Like Osanada who is also trying to be a pacifist like Rokudou, doesn’t want to resort to violence unless she is forced to. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Loli packs quite a punch. She claims she is out of the running for Rokudou’s heart but I read that as for now currently. If there are no other viable candidates, I have a feeling she’ll fill in. Then there’s Azami as Rokudou’s self-proclaimed driver. Need a lift? Just call her. Rokudou’s personal Grab. Heh. Even prim and proper girls can have their badass side. So far she’s not that infatuated with Rokudou to switch schools and be with him. Unlike Ranna. Yeah, does she even go to school in the first place?! Tsubaki feels like she is falling into more obscurity the more other girls pop up in the group. Not a fighting prowess, her forte is dolling up and be fashionable. Do magazines hire a delinquent as a model? Or is such company run by delinquents. Oh, the right term for adult delinquents is yakuza! I wonder if Otohime will fall for Rokudou. She fits the criteria of being a badass girl too, right? Oh yeah, perhaps Ryuugu is now a reformed group and no longer delinquents despite their past reputation. Is there a rule to say good girls can’t fall for Rokudou?

Not sure how long the spell will last on Rokudou but it remains to be seen as the biggest issue to note is that if these girls who have fallen for him will actually lose interest when the spell wears off. My guts say no because of all the times they spent together, Rokudou may not be the most romantic guy and still a weakling, but his kindness is a proven track record. For that I don’t think they will abandon him when that scenario come about. Because, power of friendship! The spell only makes bad girls fall for him but his kindness and other similar actions are of his own. Therefore I can safely vouch that even in the even the spell is no longer there, his actions have been deeply engraved in their heart, mind and soul. Oh heck, what if the spell is already off? It’s just the mark that is left behind! Plot twist, damn!

The girl that is the most out of place is Mizue. Yes, another normal kid ending up in the wrong place. Makes you wonder what kind of elementary and middle school she went. Were those filled with delinquents too? Anyway, it is unsure if she does harbour real romantic interest for Rokudou. She’s not a bad girl and hence she doesn’t fall under the spell’s effects. But watching him being so resilient and that he is so normal unlike every others, you think that she would at least start to fall for him naturally. But nope. It feels like she is more of some minor running joke because she gets shocked or disappointed to see Rokudou being flanked by bad girls. Hey, maybe that is the real reason she can’t approach him. Those damn mean girls by his side. Oh my. Oh Mizue, stay lonely forever… Hope she gets through this high school in one piece! Especially her sanity!

Doji and his Onishima Union groupie as the series’ antagonists, I suppose they need to turn it into some sort of shonen group battle. Yeah, need to see the workings of the power of friendship. Anyway, Doji being the strange of the lot because of his enigmatic charms that could seemingly provide you with whatever you want. You could say that he is a very good salesman and could make a killing in the sales department had he not being the head of the biggest local delinquent group. I still don’t understand his beef with Ranna or maybe he just wants to put things in ‘order’. Oh you know, delinquents must stay violent. No such thing as turning over a new leaf. Leave it to Rokudou to crush that view of his. You don’t get to decide happiness of others. Now that we know of Doji’s past and circumstances, my suggestion for him to stay protected? Obviously join Rokudou’s group! Why did he not see that?! Didn’t Rokudou and co prove themselves they’re the strongest? Maybe his pride got hurt somewhere. I won’t be surprised in the future Doji and Onishima Union will come to Rokudou’s aid when the latter encounter weirder and stronger bad ass people. Once bitten twice shy? On a trivial note, he could’ve a shot at winning a Michael Jackson impersonation contest and sing Smooth Criminal too!

Well, I have to admit that one of the controversies surrounding this series is the art and animation style. Long story short, many considered it to be bad! At first glance, yes it does seem that way. I believe that this art style they are trying to stay close to the manga source. Unfortunately even if I did a quick Google search on it, I still find that the manga’s art style is better than the animated version! Oh dear. Sad to say that the bad animation style makes the characters look weird and I noticed that there were many inconsistencies in the animation, a main factor that contributed to why the characters look strange at certain angles. Like, they didn’t hire anybody in the QC department when they finished the animation. Therefore some characters especially I have to pick Ranna, she looks uglier and to say she looks strange is just an understatement. Look at her put up several facial expressions and they are not many by the way. Whether being angry/mad or sulking/pouting, the low level animation just makes her look freaking weird.

This can be said for the rest of the other characters as well. Like Doji who I want to claim is a Michael Jackson rip-off because it’s like they’re trying to make him the Smooth Criminal for the final stretch but whatever. The whole thing just screams weird and low quality. Oh man, look at his eyes! Just freaking weird too when it starts to go into spiralling mode! If that’s what I should call it! Osanada is supposed to be a petite girl but at certain angles she looks strange and inconsistent. Rokudou is already so plain as a wuss, and now with his killer spikes hair, the low quality makes him look weird. And you thought all those thorny spikey hairstyle on Amano is like Super Saiyan Goku gone evil! Oh damn! Because of all those inconsistencies, the animation feels jerky and buggy especially during fast scenes. To further nit-pick, the colouring and hues for this series is quite rich. It feels like they poured in a lot of thick and rich colours and thus making the series looking a lot colourful. Sorry, despite all the bright colourfulness, this is definitely a show not for younger audiences. And to think veteran studio Satelight who gave us Fairy Tail, Macross F, Log Horizon, Shugo Chara and the Symphogear series would have at least given us better quality than this crap. Did they assign newbies and amateurs for this project?

For the voice acting, Naomi Oozora as Osanada, I can’t help think how she reminds me as the titular character in Hoshi No Samidare. Yeah, the girl who is best known for a certain sugoi dekai is now sugoi chicchai! Haha! Heh. The only other seiyuu I recognized is Akira Ishida as Chief. Other casts are Gen Sato as Rokudou (Chrome in Dr Stone), Sumire Uesaka as Ranna (Sanae in Chuunibyou Demo Koi Ga Shitai), Haruki Ishiya as Iinuma (Masato in Okaa-san Online), Misato Matsuoka as Tsubaki (Nekozaki in Kawaii Dake Ja Nai Shikimori-san), Yuki Yomichi as Azami (Koguma in Super Cub – another bike riding character?!), Daiki Yamashita as Doji (Midoriya in Boku No Hero Academia), Daisuke Namikawa as Colonel (Mystogan in Fairy Tail), Reina Ueda as all he Sumire siblings (Ruri in Dr Stone), Shinya Takahashi as Kouhei (Kogure in Tokyo Ravens), Ryouta Takeuchi as Hando (Elias in Mahou Tsukai No Yome), Mayuko Kazama as Yashiya (Myna in 86), Yuri Komagata as Otohime (Shirayuki in Mikakunin De Shinkoukei), Hitomi Sekine as Mizue (Ryouko in Shinobi No Ittoki) and Hiroki Nanami as Aoi (Ayame in Gibiate).

The opening theme, Endless Labyrinth by Everdream, I somehow find this song to be unsuitable. I don’t know why, it’s your typical anime rock music and fits right into the pace of the series. Maybe it’s how much they spam the name of this song… The ending theme, Love Will Find A Way by The Rampage feels like some sort of jazzy funky hip hop. Still somewhat better than the opener despite the singer trying to sing some lines in his falsetto voice. Strangely, the ending animation credits has Rokudou and his friends doing some simple hand clapping dance. Cute or what? I’m sure Ranna is not impressed with everybody joining in and crowding around. Ruins her time with Rokudou, no?

Overall, I find this series to be just passable. Sure, it is dumb fun and still enjoyable in its own way but killing it mostly is the animation quality. It’s also just another harem anime but with delinquent girls. And your main character is still a weak pussy running on the miraculous power of friendship. Well, he can also continue to be a wimp as long as strong girls continue to protect him. Such privilege. But hey, better than an isekai series with an overpowered main character! I have no qualms for strong female characters but the ones here just doesn’t quite cut it. After all, they’re under the flimsy illusion and spell that they like a certain wuss so what’s love got to do with all that? I don’t know, I’m not one to say since I can’t even get a single girl to like me :’(…
