Edens Zero S2

8 March, 2024

Well folks, guess who is back? That is right. FAIRY TAIL IN SPACE IS BACK FOR A SECOND SEASON! What Fairy Tail in space? Is there such an anime?! Yes. That’s what people like me decided to call Edens Zero! HAHAHA!!! Sighs… Anyway, you know about that guy who wants to make friends and travelling into space to see some giant mother to get his wish granted or something like that? Yup, the journey continues. More friends. More allies. More enemies. More adventures. More fights. More jokes. More fanservice. More of everything. In space! HAHAHA!

Belial Gore Arc

Episode 26
What a way to greet the new season with a recap! But don’t worry, it won’t even last for 5 minutes! Phew. Now that Homura has taken over Valkyrie’s role, this means she is in charge of all sorts of weapons on the ship. They need all the firepower they can get because all that brute force is how they barge their way through the dragons. The ultimate weapon of Edens Zero is called Etherion. However it must be kept secret and only known among the 4 Shining Stars. Not even Shiki must know. As Homura can’t keep a secret, Witch will tell her another day. Rebecca has this dream whereby a destroyed future and a different looking Shiki saved her. Worse, Happy is dead! She wakes up in cold sweat, relieved nonetheless her cat is still alive. Because a strange ship has been following them, Shiki’s answer is to invade them. With Homura, Weisz and Pino, they head down there and it seems this ship, Belial Gore has its own city bustling with life. A good way to infiltrate and disguise themselves as they look for more info. Apparently Belial Gore belongs to Drakken so be careful. Along the way, they stumble into Sibir. However this guy is old, frail and good hearted. Though, Pino still scared of him. Sibir recognizes Weisz but not the rest since this version is a different future of him. Sibir feels bad for Pino although he doesn’t remember doing anything bad to her. Weisz tells Pino he understands she only saw his dark side. But there was a time Sibir was a good person and once saved him. Drakken then makes a public announcement that he knew some of Edens Zero members are on board Belial Gore. But this is all a trap as he sends some of his men to invade Edens Zero and take those crew members as hostage while Belial Gore is now under lockdown. So don’t do anything funny if you know what’s good for them.

Episode 27
Invading Edens Zero are Seth, Maria and Diego Reyes. They think Witch is a pushover as she claims she can singlehandedly deal with them. Jokes on them as Witch equips herself with a battle suit and uses Ether to fight them. They are swiftly taken out by surprise since Witch can change her Ether element. With the invasion over, Sister now will gladly interrogate them. The rest inspect the huge hole the enemies have created. It seems they have a special Ether Gear weapon that could reap through their special armoured exterior with ease. Hermit manages to make contact with Shiki and updates the rest that Edens Zero is safe. At the same time, Drakken issues a wanted statement for the fugitives and anybody who catches them alive will have their debts completely annulled. So everyone here is drowning in debt? Big chase coming up. They manage to run to the outskirts. Weisz uses his app for everyone to change their appearance. Shouldn’t he used it earlier? Suddenly Laguna pops up and turns Shiki into a puddle of water. He is one of the top 4 elite warriors of Drakken known as Element 4. They are all part of him. As you can see, Laguna’s specialty is water and as long as you cry, he can turn you into a puddle. All fell for this trick until Homura is left. Laguna makes weird attempts to cry and she holds her ground until she couldn’t. Yeah, who could ever resist no crying before an onion! As he collects the puddles, he notes one is missing. It is Weisz. He saw through Laguna’s trick and modified his app. This means pretending to cry and then disguising himself as a puddle. He dons his armour suit, ready for his counterattack.

Episode 28
All seems to be going great for Weisz until his suit starts to overheat. Thanks to Hermit’s advice to use some cooling system, he turns the tables back on Laguna and knocks him out. Before he can revel in his victory, he gets shot. The culprit is the flame sniper Fie who is part of Element 4. Shiki and co are released as they tend to Weisz. Pino calculates the origin of the bullet as Shiki dares the sniper take one at him. He fires and Shiki uses his Ether Gear to throw it back to him. Fie dodges but is now on fire to take them out. But Sibir’s smokescreen blocks his vision as he brings them back to his place for treatment. Relaying Weisz’s condition to Hermit, she’ll send Sister to deliver medicine via another gate. However Sister is busy torturing Maria and will have Rebecca and Happy do it. Sister seems to know Maria’s true identity (Seth and Diego self-destruct) and makes a deal with her to spill the beans. Maria then turns into her true form which is a space slime (and you thought her Maria Slime name was weird but damn it was a dead giveaway!). Rebecca rides through space but is faced with drones of Element 4’s Sylph. All that video games paid off as Rebecca easily crushes the drones. She meets her match when facing Sylph’s ship. In order to dodge her missile, she unleashes her Ether Gear to increase the speed of her own ship. Hermit notes with such power, she has the making of an Etherion Master. Rebecca manages to give Sylph the slip and land in the cargo area. They won’t get far as Sylph captures them.

Episode 29
Rebecca and Happy are trapped in a wind cage and can’t break out. As Hermit has lost contact with Rebecca, she sends her last coordinates to Pino so Shiki’s side goes to look for her. They find the medicine but no Rebecca. Shiki has Homura take the medicine back while he looks around. Of course Sylph is waiting to attack them. She is aided by Jinn who is her brother (Sylph’s real name is Kleene). Jinn stays back to handle Shiki while Sylph goes after Homura who is rushing back with the medicine. Meanwhile Rebecca wakes up in Drakken’s room. He assures he won’t kill or hurt her and just wants to talk. It is hinted that Noah sold her out, the reason he has info on Edens Zero. First, he shows her something: In a cell, a tortured Labilia. Rebecca should be happy for all the torment she has caused her, right? It’s his gift to her since Rebecca will be joining them. Drakken then reveals his reason for targeting Edens Zero: It has something precious he wants and that is Rebecca AKA No. 29. Drakken puts Rebecca in the same cell. He allows her to torture Labilia and do whatever she wishes except to kill her. Even the worst can bring in money. He goes off to tend some other business. But Rebecca can’t help free Labilia as Daichi of Element 4 is tasked to keep an eye on her. Of course Daichi is on the verge of going crazy. Went by 60 days without a single torture. Can he last 1 more day? Guess not.

Episode 30
Homura gets captured by Sylph. Fie finds Sibir harbouring Weisz and shoots the old guy. Laguna stops Daichi from hurting Rebecca further lest he wants to risk their boss’ wrath. Jinn and Shiki are about to go all out with each other but Drakken comes in between. Drakken then petrifies Shiki and takes him in. As our Edens Zero crewmates are captured, Drakken shows his ruthless side as he destroys the medicine meant for Weisz. He also says he has sold Pino and Happy to the junk for money. Shiki tries to fight back but in his tied up state, he only gets shot in the leg. Drakken warns him not to move or he’ll shoot the rest. First, he is going to punish them for illegally entering Belial Gore. He hints to Homura to use her body to make money and could even surpass her mother. Next, he cuts off Weisz’s arm. At this point, Rebecca will officially join his side just to let her friends go. But it’s not over yet. Drakken tells them that their entire Edens Zero ship has been neutralized. Diego faked his death to take control of the bridge. Although Seth self-destructed, he also did not die. Rather, he infiltrated Edens Zero to take over its programme to disable all the androids. This is the part Shiki is supposed to admit defeat, right? Well, he promises to defeat Drakken someday and become his friend. Unfortunately, Drakken shoots and kills him! What about his policy not to kill? Well, he makes an exception for those who do not obey him. Shiki dead. Edens Zero ends!

Episode 31
So uhm, this series still running? Anyway, it has been a week since Shiki is dead. Rebecca is locked up in her room. She is afraid and has lost hope. Laguna tries to talk to her to ease her since she is one of them but she is still hopeless. As she takes a shower, she remembers Drakken telling her that they have a device to extract her Ether Gear’s power. However it seems Rebecca’s Ether Gear isn’t speed but to change the laws of the cosmos. It is called Cat Leaper. He will not tell her what it is because it will put him in a disadvantage should she know what it is. The problem is that they need that power to awaken and only then they can extract it. This is why they are keeping a surveillance on her. So as Rebecca feels sad about everyone, suddenly her power activates. Drakken detects such power but it is too late before he could do anything. The next thing Rebecca knows, she is back in bed on Edens Zero. She is happy to see everyone alive. Before Shiki and co invade Belial Gore, Rebecca stops them to have a meeting. She relates what happen so the rest deduce she either went back in time or saw a possible future. But unlike Chronophage, only Rebecca has her memories intact. Then she remembers Labilia being captured. She confirms with Couchpo that she has not been posting her daily videos and this proves so. Despite all the torture she went through, Rebecca still wants to save her. Just then, Drakken’s men invade the ship. They are easily defeated by Witch but luckily Rebecca mentions this is just a façade. Thanks to the additional info, the trio are soon thwarted. Rebecca soon explains about Drakken’s fearsome power and the possibility of Noah being a traitor. Even so, they are no match for him. Shiki has an idea. Drakken is now impatient as his men has not contacted him back. Edens Zero then crashes into Belial Gore. Everyone will be fighting together to win.

Episode 32
After crashing in, Edens Zero crew is faced with Element 4. However to give Rebecca time to reach Drakken, the 4 Shining Stars will take them on. When Edens Zero reach Drakken’s tower, they are greeted with a hologram of Noah. First, he explains his Ether Gear ability to observe people’s location including outside time. He noticed Rebecca’s powers first activated 10 years ago. She was supposed to die in an accident. Whenever she is at the verge of death, her powers activate to change time and location. This is the 30th time she has used her power and hence Drakken is calling her No. 30. However, the downside of using that power is that she does not retain memories of the previous world. Surprisingly this time she could. It could only mean in this world she will defeat Drakken. It is unsure if she will be able to use that power again but in the event Drakken extracts her power, it will be the end of Rebecca’s world and the start of Drakken’s world No. 2. He admits he betrayed Rebecca and sold her out to Drakken because he wants to defeat him. He warns them about Drakken being powerful enough to be part of Oracion Seis Galactica and is using some life support machine to maintain his youth. Before more can be revealed, jamming interference cuts Noah off from the rest. His last words are Rebecca has figured out Drakken’s weakness in the previous world. However Rebecca can’t pinpoint what it is. Now we see Hermit fighting Fie. He thought being a sniper allows him to sneakily take her out but looks like she has heat seeking properties and once she smokes him out, controls all weapons in his arsenal and fire back on him.

Episode 33
Daichi may enjoy being a masochist too but he prefers to torture Sister. He thought he had her but some Ether Gear optimization whatever has her break free from his branches. She heals him so she could torture him until he passes out. Laguna has it tough with Witch. She knows he was once an actor but then disappeared. It may not be her business to know why, so she explains her reason to fight is to protect her Edens Zero family. So better think twice again the reason he is fighting her. Homura is able to absorb Sylph’s wind and this makes her scared. But some programme activates to turn her back into an expressionless killer. But even so, still not enough to defeat Homura. Rebecca’s side find Labilia but she looks fine and not tortured. Also here is Sibir as he hears them out. According to his history, his misunderstanding with Weisz was long resolved. Weisz used to be a troublemaker and it seems Weisz stole a suitcase not containing Pino but money. Weisz thought it belonged to Sibir when it actually belonged to a powerfully famous but unknown moneylender known as DJ Zombie. Weisz was caught and his arm cut off as punishment. He then started to change and became a good citizen. Thanks to DJ Zombie controlling the financial stuffs, he turned the planet into a criminal hotspot. Yes, DJ Zombie is Drakken! Sibir adds he looks the same as before and it is believed he is over 200 years old. It is possible he wants Rebecca’s power to return to his youthful body. He might not look like it but his power to keep his youthful appearance may be at its limit. Drakken realizes he has not enough time. But after thinking his underlings have not reported back and Edens Zero coming straight in to attack, he fears Rebecca may have awakened to her powers. Sibir thinks the gang should retreat for now and not fight Drakken. Unplugging his life support will not kill him right away. Labilia has a gist of what is happening. She will help them as she reveals herself as not human. Her face is a black hole?!

Episode 34
This Labilia in fact is actually Amira in disguise. While the true Labilia was captured, Amira infiltrated and swapped places with her. Currently she is hiding in some club. Speaking of which, Homura bumps into her. Still b*tchy as ever but running scared. Amira apologizes for the deception on Digitalis but it was necessary for her mission. You see, her mission is to get close to Drakken so as to absorb his memories to find his weakness. But thanks to Shiki’s side, now she has figured it all out and wants to be part of it. Suddenly Drakken arrives and turns the ground into muck. With no time left, he tries to take Rebecca but Shiki won’t allow it. Both men fall through several floors. Shiki will fight him and has the rest protect Rebecca. Amira as the rest lead her to Drakken’s life support system. There they stumble into Jinn. First, Amira asks if he knows what this machine does. Jinn is not interested in any way until Amira explains the secret of this life support machine. It actually absorbs the life force of all those on Belial Gore and converts it to Drakken. This is how he manages to live so long and retain his youth. In short, if you’re unlucky and get all your life force taken away, you die. Weisz becomes upset and runs away. This doesn’t sit well with Amira because she needs him to destroy the machine. This makes Jinn in a dilemma because Element 4 too is not spared from this. Sister makes a deal with Jinn that she will help Kleene if he helps them. Jinn will not betray his employer although he swore to protect his sister and destroys the machine instantly. Drakken goes into overdrive mode to fight Shiki. However it is interrupted by Weisz because he is mad at Drakken as the culprit who killed everyone.

Episode 35
Weisz trying to get his revenge on Drakken and blaming him for killing everybody on Norma. Flashback shows his mom and many others died from an unknown disease and it is hinted that Drakken brought that pathogen onto Norma. With Weisz blinded by revenge, Drakken could’ve killed him if not for Shiki saving his ass and telling him to calm down and work together to defeat him. That’s what friends are for, right? Further flashback shows Weisz showing Sibir a pendant he got that was a memento from his late mom. But one day it was stolen and he accused Sibir of doing so despite having no proof. Although Sibir might be a thief, he will not steal from his own comrades. Worse, Weisz rejected they were friends and as he got kicked out, he vowed to steal something back from him. Drakken then starts to weaken as Hermit has successfully shut down the entire system of his life support. But wait. Something worse happens. WTF Drakken now turns into a stronger and creepier tentacle monster?! Is this some video gaming logic whereby the last boss gets stronger the more his life reaches critical level?! Anyway, tentacle monster, huh? Oh Rebecca… Worse, he has hacked the satellite from Kurenai to shoot at Blue Garden. Edens Zero scramble to stop it. Drakken now craves for lives and kills his own comrades to take them. He also needs Rebecca’s power and he remembers Noah’s words that killing Shiki will activate it. But as he is about to do so, Shiki to activates to his powerful form. This power of his even allows him to see all the memories in previous worlds? Well, because it’s time to see Drakken’s flashback. Part of a group of experimental kids who will not live past the age of 15, Drakken refused to die like that and learnt alchemy to not only extend his own life but change the lives of others. That way, he could meet lots of people and make lots of friends! Gee, sound familiar? Shiki will now be his friend as he puts Drakken to sleep.

Episode 36
Drakken goes down in a single punch and turns into a frail old man. Weisz still wants to kill him but Shiki tells him not to. Can he be friends with a serial killer? It’ll be hard at first but yes. Weisz trolls us by shooting a few shots but turns out he missed on purpose. Yeah, he too finds it hard to kill him. In the aftermath, Amira arrests Drakken and hands him over to IUA. Sibir gives back the pendant to Weisz. It is not that he stole it but he retrieved it from one of his gang members who stole it from Weisz. Although Sibir wanted to give it back to him, Weisz told him to hold onto it. But he forgot about it and went on to be some professor (in the other timeline). Rebecca wonders what Connor have been doing all this while but it seems nobody knows who he is! Noah thanks Edens Zero crew in taking down Drakken. As gratitude, he reveals his identity which must be kept secret at all times: He is the director of GIA overseeing Sakura Cosmos and Amira is his colleague. As this incident cannot be made public too, he hopes they can be unsung heroes. Later Rebecca privately talks to him about her past of family. Funny, no matter how much he researched, he couldn’t find it or her power’s origin. As for Connor who existed in the previous world but no longer in this one, there could be another person who wields her Cat Leaper ability. He will investigate this further. Labilia tries to make amends with Rebecca but soon she returns to her b*tch mode by uploading embarrassing videos of Rebecca! This b*tch should’ve just died! Jinn and Kleene are guests on Edens Zero. Jinn is not happy to stay here but he has to since Kleene is undergoing treatment. She might be physically fine but her emotion is damaged and Sister is trying to fix that. Before Shiki continues his journey, he would love to visit Granbell first. To his dismay, all the robots have stopped moving. Did the virus get them? Hermit replays their memories and soon Shiki learns the truth that they have been putting up an act to be the villain to send Shiki into space before they run out of Ether forever. RIP my friends. But Shiki gets a surprise because here is Ziggy in the flesh. Or metal.

Edens One Arc

Episode 37
Sorry, no hugs and kisses. Ziggy attacks Shiki and regrets raising him. It seems his new goal now is to destroy all of humanity. As such, he commands Pino to join his side. Seeing the way she is programmed, she cannot refuse. As Pino overwrites herself, there is no way that Shiki’s words of telling her to do what she wants to do would reach her, right? OH WAIT! IT DID! Because Pino wants to be with them, she breaks out of Ziggy’s command. Now deeming her useless, Ziggy tells her to rot with her fellow human friends as he retreats back to Edens One. As explained, Edens Zero is just a prototype for Edens One and piloting this ship is Connor. Ziggy also has his 4 Shining Stars counterparts known as 4 Dark Stars! As the island is sinking, Edens Zero retrieve their crew members. Ziggy orders the destruction of Edens Zero. An epic space battle begins but it is mostly one-sided as Edens One is way superior and faster. Edens Zero taking on damage as Shiki is still in stunned mode. Eventually he comes to his senses and takes command for Edens Zero to escape. Even so, all the tricks pulled to escape is not enough as Edens One is hot on their tail. Rebecca is about to force herself to activate Cat Leaper (can she?) but moments Edens Zero meets a certain death, they are saved with the right timing of Elsie!

Episode 38
With Elsie’s intervention, Ziggy decides to withdraw and believes he is no match for her now. Elsie boards Edens Zero to tell what she knows of Ziggy. She starts off explaining about herself as a war refugee aiming aimlessly until Ziggy picked her up and she became part of his family. It was a time when Shiki was still a baby. Ziggy tasked Witch and Elsie to take care of Edens Zero until Shiki is ready to go into space. Because Elsie is bad in managing resources, she started plundering and became a pirate. Weisz finds the story strange because after Ziggy left Edens Zero and took Shiki to Granbell, what happened to that ship they arrived in? Witch theorizes Ziggy created Pino and had her use it to leave Granbell. That’s another story for another time. When Elsie returned years later to Ziggy, he was dead. But the Ether she felt emanating from him was evil. It wasn’t the Ziggy she knew. So she planted some drone in him and that’s how she knew to come to Edens Zero’s help when Ziggy turned evil. She doesn’t know the reason but a recording from the drone revealed evil Ziggy’s thoughts: He will go to Mother. As Elsie owes it to Ziggy, she will go after him. Shiki also feels the same and will chase after Ziggy although seeing Mother remains their top goal. Now they reach the Dragonfall area. A bunch of dead dragons caused by Edens One. So as Edens Zero gear up and fly through, lots of mechanical dragons on their tail. But nothing with a little Ether linking and teamwork to shake them off and voila! They burst through this barrier! Damn, it seemed so easy. Now they are in Aoi Cosmos. Ocean in space and fish swimming everywhere? The 4 Shining Stars discuss that anything outside Sakura Cosmos has been deleted from their territory although Hermit will try to recover those lost memories. But it seems they are on the path to the fire planet, Red Cave because Edens Zero has been through here 15 years ago. Then there is also this person whom you must not piss off: Poseidon Nero. He is also part of the Oracion Seis Galactica that Drakken and Elsie are part of. Unlike Drakken who rules the cosmos from behind the scenes, Nero rules Aoi Cosmos openly and thus is called the Emperor. For now, they set their destination to Red Cave in hopes of finding clues on Mother.

Red Cave Arc

Episode 39
Justice and his IUA pals contemplate on Drakken’s fall and they think there is some truth covered up behind it. And then some secret Prayer Council that Justice convenes along with Jaguar and other shady weirdoes. It seems they are Oracion Seis Interstellar and their goal is to crush Oracion Seis Galactica. Wow. This is confusing. Especially Justice who has a deep grudge on Elsie and wants to kill her. Seeing that she has gone to Aoi Cosmos, that’s where they’ll be heading next. We return to Edens Zero who has landed on Red Cave. Well, beach episode! Despite its name, it’s filled with sandy beaches and water! Fun time! Then the gang go have their underwater fun until they see a crashed ship. Too bad for the pilot, he is all bones. Noting a temple nearby, they go explore it but first, tentacle monster! Oh my, is this where Rebecca shows off her fanservice?! Oh well, no discrimination. Robots and guys too, the monster takes! Eventually Shiki breaks them out as they find themselves inside the temple. They are greeted by a robot named Nadia who welcomes them to the Temple of Mother Beacon. Rebecca finds the name familiar as it was carved on that dead pilot’s cockpit.

Episode 40
Nadia says that this temple contains a beacon that could be clues to lead to Mother. However they must pass through that door and she cannot guarantee their lives. Well, beyond this door is an insane amount of magma, flames and heat so you bet our gang can’t take it and quickly retreat. To solve this, Witch returns back to Blue Garden to get Laguna now working as an actor to help them. Uhm, so she really went all the way back there and even past those dragons?! While the rest wait, they listen to Nadia’s stories like how Ziggy was able to pass through it 15 years ago alone and got a beacon. It seems there was a treasure that emitted Ether that was also a power source for the androids here. Someone stole it and all the androids are now ‘dead’. Nadia survived only because of this cable she is stuck to that her beloved Andrew repaired. He is a human engineer whom she fell in love with. He left to get something and promised to return. That was 200 years ago. As Nadia still eagerly awaits that, Rebecca knows better Andrew has returned as that dead pilot and decides not to tell the truth. With Witch’s return, the plan is to use Laguna’s power to turn Shiki into water and then Witch will coat it with some special Ether for extra protection. Shiki then uses his gravity to push through the flames to enter this room filled with floating Ether parts that belonged to Mother. As he returns, Nadia further explains that there are countless of such pieces whether hiding in planets or floating in space. Such pieces of Mother are called Relics and gathering enough of them allows you to find her location. So it’s like a compass. Log Pose of space! The gang is ready to leave to find more Relics. With Nadia still waiting for Andrew, Witch then tells her the whole truth. There is even a last video from him that tells of his return. However his ship was hit by a meteor and crashed nearby. Nadia is saddened of this news but it seems he has brought back a Relic that returns Ether to the land. Now all the androids can move again and Red Cave returns to its original state as the deep waters reside. The 200 year promise of watching the red skies again have been fulfilled.

Foresta Arc

Episode 41
Is this going to be a trend because now Laguna is staying on Edens Zero. Based on his promise with Witch, he will leave once he finds a place to stay in Aoi Cosmos since he is wanted back on Sakura Cosmos. But no, he won’t be friends with Shiki. Meanwhile Justice is hot on Elsie’s tail. However she anticipates this because one of her crew member, Jessie is a government spy and has leaked info. She didn’t rat him out since he is like family to her. Everyone from all walks of life is free to join her crew seeing she will not reject anyone who seeks her help. She is willing to listen to him but since he refuses to talk, he is sent back to Justice. Edens Zero’s next stop is the planet called Foresta because based on the old log, this was its next stop and there might be a Relic here. After finding a spot to land in this very forestry planet, they are shocked to see humans as slaves to robots. We also see some robots arguing among each other whether to mistreat them or to treat them well since humans break easily. Well, non-believers kill those human rights believers! Shiki and co manage to slip away when a robot comes by. Happy and Pino just act like their masters. Couchpo then helps take them into her secret hideout. She was here to review some food but about a week ago, all this crazy stuff happened. Turns out Ziggy told the robots to rule over humanity and they started attacking humans. Soon the robots ambush them so everybody goes all out fighting. Uhm, I don’t think robots are meant to be eaten, Couchpo!

Episode 42
As Sister continues to examine Kleene, it seems the latter doesn’t want to be cured because doing so, she will have to leave this ship and she likes it here. Uhm, couldn’t she just veto her brother to say she’s staying? Because Jinn won’t tell how Kleene’s condition of having a mental breakdown each time she shows emotions come up, Sister wanted to ask Kleene directly but Jinn threatened her not to. Edens Zero is being attacked by drones so the 4 Shining Stars and ex-Drakken guys go into action. Meanwhile Shiki and co stumble into a cute fleeing robot. It pleads for help since Nero has sent forces to eliminate all robots on Foresta. Too bad it gets killed off by Mora. Crazy dude has got some sticky glue that really sticks. Shiki manages to break out from it using his gravity to fight him. Mora’s comrades, Orc and Britney observe the battle especially Shiki’s abilities that seem to be similar to that of Shura. Shiki uses his gravity to free the rest. But a drone attack bombs the area and separates everyone. Time for one on one matchups? Maybe. Homura vs Mora. Rebecca vs Britney. Shiki vs Orc. Shiki still believes Ziggy is doing all this for a reason but Orc isn’t buying it. He tells Shiki they are from Nero’s elite commando unit and have orders from him to destroy all robots on Foresta to protect all humans. This is also to send warning to Ziggy who started this rebellion.

Episode 43
Long story short, all our heroes win their fight against their opponents. Well, maybe except for Rebecca. Can’t best Britney in her smoke form so just run like hell! Meanwhile Weisz is being called back to Edens Zero because Hermit has discovered that a virus on some satellite set by Ziggy is causing the robots to go berserk. At this rate, the 4 Shining Stars will also be infected. Hence Weisz’s job is to modify it. Yeah, it would’ve been easier if they could just destroy it but nope. Just need to modify it. Elsie is also on this planet and what a rude welcoming as the robots start attacking her crew. But I suppose this is so that Elsie can transform into her Ether Gear and show off her Star Drain move. Meanwhile we see Shura being a cruel merciless dick by killing of his girls because he feels like it. They want us to hate him, huh?

Episode 44
Rebecca needs to rid of Britney but how to fight smoke? Yes, use a vacuum! But’s password locked! By the time Pino analyses it, Britney already blows smoke that rots Rebecca’s flesh! That is when her Cat Leaper activates and goes back a couple of minutes in time. This time she knows the password to suck and kick her away. Rebecca finds this version of her ability strange as it is more like reversing time rather than leaping to another world. So she tests it again a few more times to prove to Pino it is so. However like such great power, it takes a huge toll on her body and it is almost cracking up. Yup, there’s your warning not to simply use it so freely. Meanwhile Hermit and Weisz enter the satellite and to Hermit’s horror, there is Muller who is now part cyborg. Turns out he escaped from his imprisonment. Although it was Ziggy who planted the virus, now he is administering the server to control humans. He wants to abuse Hermit like before. Round 2 trauma. Elsewhere, Shiki and Homura are about to take on more of Nero’s elite commandoes but they are easily taken out by Justice and his IUA men. After imprisoning Homura, Justice learns Shiki knows Elsie. He doesn’t care about Ziggy or Nero because his most important goal is to capture Elsie whom he views as the most evil being. Since Shiki knows her, it is enough reason for Justice to kill him in the name of Justice! Did he just make a lame pun?!

Episode 45
Whatever Justice says about the privileges in the IUA, to take down evil with extreme prejudice, blah, blah, blah, uhm, isn’t he acting like a villain? But his powers are too much for Shiki to handle and he gets defeated although he still lives. Justice is about to deal the finishing blow but here comes Elsie to the rescue. Both know each other but now hate each other. Both are evenly matched as they possess the same Ether Gear. So we learn a few things. Elsie was a princess of some planet. Justice whose real name he has tossed away, James Holloway was engaged to her. Both sides lost everything. Justice blames it on Elsie’s betrayal. Both think their actions would’ve led to less losses. As their epic fight continues, Shiki is approached by this Yoda robot who tells him the true concept of gravity and to use the force that is infinite! Really?!Meanwhile Muller is fascinated by Weisz since as a fellow scientist, he has heard much of him. Weisz manages to break out from his predicament by transforming into Arsenal and then snap Hermit out of her trauma. But Muller isn’t done. He activates the switch that turns all robots into terminators. Yes, they kill all humans! Damn, how many human pets have died! Rebecca can stand her ground but with too many robots ganging up on him, Pino activates her EMP. Yoda robot then demonstrates his ultimate gravity move that puts a stop to the robots’ rampage as well as interrupting Justice and Elsie’s epic fight. He then introduces himself as Xenolith, the master of the force Magimech Arts and Ziggy’s mentor.

Episode 46
Xenolith might be dead 1000 years ago but that is his original body. Ziggy was a prodigy, learning and master everything in a day. Well, uhm, he is a robot! Anyway, Xenolith hopes Shiki will not turn to the dark side too. Xenolith’s gravity interruption has forced Elsie and Justice to settle it another day. Otherwise both would’ve died today. Rebecca trying to gather and reunite her fellow Edens Zero crew. Meanwhile Kleene is feeling unstable so Jinn pleads to Sister for help. The only way is to dive into her mind and see what’s wrong. Weisz’s attacks on Muller do no damage. He brags about all the experiments he done on humans to achieve this ultimate state. Especially the one done on Jinn and Kleene. The horrific experiment of Muller carving up Jinn to pieces as Kleene watches so as to emotionally break her. He targeted them because their family once funded his research. Of course he got busted and when the funding stopped, he targeted them for revenge after killing their parents. Weisz so mad he punches this dude but he can still stand up and blab. Apparently he has activated some doomsday system. In short, Foresta’s defence mechanism will destroy the planet. Laguna arrives in time to assist Weisz. After giving the mad scientist a water shock, Weisz proceeds to disassemble him. Muller then changes tone and pleads for Hermit to save him. But she uses him to disable the doomsday system and gives him a good punch. You’re not needed anymore so stay away. All threats on Foresta are gone and the robots become docile again. But at a great cost.

Episode 47
Elsie makes contact with Edens Zero to apologize for getting them mixed up in her affairs. She will still chase after Ziggy. Kleene has been saved thanks to Sister removing the horrifying memories of Muller’s experiment. Because of that, she can now give off a cute smile! Oh, did we mention she wants to stay here and be part of Edens Zero? I guess Jinn will have to comply. Justice is being contacted by Holy who is part of Oracion Seis Interstellar that he needs to take care of Shura who is Nero’s adopted son. Once that old guy croaks, this troublesome kid will take over so they want to avoid all that and have him eliminated first. She will send Jaguar and Eraser to assist him. We see Nero having a meeting with Shura and his elite team known as Oceans 6 (sorry, it’s not 11). Since Nero decides everything by the roll of his dice, fate has it that he will leave everything to Shura and not intervene. Bloodthirsty Shura revels in this as he sets sights on killing Ziggy. He means business as he kills off one of the Oceans 6 member who is a robot. They’re going to fight robots so they don’t need a robot comrade. Flashback shows Ziggy met Nero before. Ziggy trained Shura his skills since Nero’s powers weren’t compatible with his. This also gave Ziggy the idea of adopting a son. Xenolith revives as he mentions Ziggy’s plan to cause havoc on Foresta was because he fears him. No, not because he is a frail old robot now. But the fear of Xenolith meeting Shiki. Because now Xenolith is going teach him and transfer his powers to Shiki that will be able to take down Ziggy. But first, some VR training to better use their Ether. During the training, Ziggy hijacks Xenolith. Did he miss his grandson?

Episode 48
Ziggy takes Rebecca hostage and is going to kill her with his gravity. Unless Shiki promises not to pursue this case further, you’ll get to see all of Rebecca’s guts splatter out! Shiki breaks free from his binds to rescue her. Then it turns out it is all a simulation from Xenolith. Pretty impressive Shiki can use his Ether Gear at such moments but more needs to be done. With the jump scare over, back to more training for everyone. Of course Xenolith notes Rebecca’s power as the weakest and needs special training. Even so, her power is the most special that could change the world. Literally. Well, we’ve already seen it. Once training is over, Xenolith decides not to follow them and remain on Foresta. Witch asks him about meeting Ziggy. It was 15 years ago when he travelled to see Mother. However he was alone. This has Witch know something is wrong. Because 4 Shining Stars were travelling with him. What was it that caused them to erase their memories outside Sakura Cosmos? Meanwhile Ziggy notes the failure by the robots to take over Foresta. However this is all just a test and everything is still proceeding as planned. He remembers losing his memory when he visited Granbell. When he decided to look for Mother, he found Shiki. He was drawn to him and raised him as his own. After his revival, he got all his memories back including why he was drawn to Shiki. He is not a threat to robots but the entire cosmos. He must not be allowed to exist. In order to realize his goal for machines to dominate the cosmos, he will take Aoi Cosmos first. Edens Zero crew is on some mud planet. Because a huge building is a Relic, it is not possible to take it with them. Pino says they need to absorb its essence into its orb. That will be suffice although it will take some time. Right now on the news, Shura addressing his people. There were several uprising of robots on other planets too. But all were promptly subdued by Oceans 6. In order to protect the people, he vows Judgment Day and this means the elimination of all robots across Aoi Cosmos.

Sandra Arc

Episode 49
Hermit makes a quick check all over the internet and it seems there were no uprising unlike in Foresta. This means that Shura is using this an excuse to simply massacre robots. Obviously Shiki wants to defeat that jerk right now although Laguna stops him. It is not possible because of his army and fleet. I suppose Shiki doesn’t care because he can’t count? Anyway, Laguna knows a person who can help as he brings them down to the desert island of Sandra. Meanwhile Ziggy relishes this is all part of his plan. For Shura to kill all robots, he must activate All Link. He will use that to control all the robots. Likewise, Shura also knows Ziggy wants All Link and will get use this as bait to get him. Down at Sandra, Laguna takes Edens Zero to see his old friends. However they are not happy to see this traitor and surround them. Their boss, Goodwin is a huge cat and the leader of Oasis, the organization who is rebelling Nero’s rule. Well, Goodwin seems to be a huge fan of Rebecca! He might not listen to what Laguna says but he sure does for darling Rebecca. Goodwin will deal with the traitor later as the more pressing issue is dealing with Shura. He explains about this All Link system. Once in a while, Aoi Cosmos will be flooded with water. During that, all Ether will be linked within the cosmos and thus all networks become connected. 3 days till that big tide. When Shura’s army is here, time for our heroes to showcase a bit of their fruits of their VR training. Small fries are now too easy. Rebecca saves a young boy from the army driving a truck towards them. As thanks, he punches her face! Meanwhile Nero is being advised by his subordinate to stop Shura’s madness or their empire will fall. Nero reiterates that he will do nothing. Because it doesn’t matter what is done as the dice has guaranteed his victory.

Episode 50
Edens Zero and the rebels continue to beat the army. Then when reinforcements arrive, they head over there fast because well, Orc is going to use this super bomb that will blow up half the planet! Orc knows Shiki will be troublesome and tries to deal with him. But he doesn’t know he has undergone training and is now a different person. Yeah, Shiki owns him easily. Pino tries to hack into the bomb but Orc won’t give up and presses the detonator. So uhm, Shiki grabbing onto it as it launches into space? Kaboom! Don’t worry, he is still alive. He just flung it into space and the hacking reduced the bomb’s power. In the aftermath as the army is captured, Goodwin will not kill them as both sides have lost many. He might hate the empire as it takes away their freedom but he doesn’t hate the people. So once this war is over, he hopes they can drink together. A big guy with a big heart. Goodwin agrees to form an alliance with Edens Zero. Since IUA is coming here, there’ll be a big shootout so they’ll use this chance to defeat Shura and destroy All Link system. Weisz hears Laguna talking with one of his ex-comrades about getting revenge on Shura who killed one of their members who was a princess who went in to rescue her captured friends. He deduces Laguna joined Drakken’s group for this purpose. It doesn’t have to be any group. Edens Zero or Elsie, as long as it is a strong organization to take down Nero. He warns him not to drag his friends into his personal vendetta. If any of his buddies die, he will kill him. Now the war begins as Aoi Cosmos sees the biggest shootout ever between both sides.

A Journey Is Best Measured In Friends Than Lightyears
Well, I don’t know. I find it strange that at this point of this writing, there isn’t any announcement of the next season. This should be getting another season, right? The way they end it like that and tease us about the possible future. How could they end a season right in the middle of an important war? Or at least one that is about to start. After all, from my brief and simple Google search, there is enough material to cover another double cours of a season. Or is this series just going to follow the trend of a show having 2 seasons and that’s it. I know it’s a silly speculation but it could be just me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I’m a huge fan of this series. Seeing Fairy Tail has ended and left a hole for fans, this series as I would say would be decently epic enough to be the next Fairy Tail. But then again, it’s just my sentiments.

To be honest, this season does not disappoint although at the same time it is not that great either. Aha. My typical neutral on the fence answer. The plot is making some progress but it is not enough to warrant anywhere close to the ending. After all, the manga is still ongoing and we are still if I should say, at the initial stages of the story. As I have said, my sentiments had me thinking this is the next epic thing to replace Fairy Tail so there are going to be a lot more plots and characters along the way for Shiki and his Edens Zero crew to meet before the long journey finally ends. And yes, I anticipate it is going to be a long journey. Though, something like the length of Fairy Tail and not One Piece! Oh boy. So yeah, this may have the potential of reaching 3 digits of anime episodes but don’t mind me, I’m just getting ahead of myself. Yeah, why do I sound like I am so wanting another season?

I have mixed feelings about the first half of this season. Primarily, facing off with Drakken and taking him down. To be honest, I think I was just lying to myself thinking that Drakken would be the big bad boss and the endgame. But from the looks of it, he could be the weakest of the lot. After all, he was from my perception painted as some big bad villain from the first season so that’s where my misconception somewhat built up. That is why in some ways, the fight with Drakken ended faster than I expected and with much anti-climactic. There wasn’t much fanfare when Drakken was (somewhat easily) taken down (and in that manner too?!) but like I’ve said, Drakken in terms of galactic comparison to the rest of the bigger antagonists, he could be just a small fry. That is why I was having such dilemma about his arc went it just came to an end.

So we usher Drakken’s case out of the way and to the next plot and the second half of the series: Ziggy turning traitor and the next big bad. From the looks of it and as I have foreseen it, the second half wasn’t entirely enough to settle this. There’s a lot of mystery and intrigue in Ziggy’s sudden change of character as I continue to speculate he could be just playing the villain to shape up Shiki to fight an even bigger Demon Lord who could threaten the very fabric and existence of the entire universe: Mother! I know it sounds outrageous and it is. I just hope somebody or the next season proves me wrong. And of course I hope Ziggy becoming a bad guy isn’t because of some cheap plot twist as I have seen in Nanatsu No Taizai. Why did a heroic holy knight become a bad guy? Because as revealed many seasons later, he was being possessed by an evil demon! What the… What a downer. So I hope this isn’t the case either.

But if there was one thing that was my pet peeve, it was those mechanical dragons that surrounded Sakura Cosmos. The way they painted it, it was as though they were going to be a tough nut to crack. But alas as we saw, Edens Zero zipped through it like nothing. Sure, a bit of struggle but nothing that would put you on the edge of your seat. But that’s not the end of it. After that ‘breakthrough’, it now seems that everyone can zip in and out of Sakura Cosmos so easily. Like as though Dragonfall area does not exist anymore! I don’t know about you, but I felt this whole Dragonfall barrier thingy was like one dumb plot to keep Sakura Cosmos people inside and break their spirits if they ever think of venturing beyond. Well, now the impossible has happened so nothing is going to stop them from doing anything impossible. Like meeting Mother for real.

As for Shiki and the rest of his Edens Zero crew, what else can I say about them? The usual formula that their bonds will have them pull through at the toughest times. Rebecca still obviously there for fanservice but now we need to have a slightly different perspective of her seeing she has a very unusual power. Yeah, I hope it won’t be used for plot conveniences. Oh you know, everybody gets killed and then she leaps to another world for it. Yeah. That. And my curiosity of Mosco continues because what the heck is that “Do Not Push” button is for?! I’m going to add if he does push that, we will skip everything and go right to the ending! The ultimate cheat code! Moscoy… This season also adds new characters to Edens Zero crew and for now, they’re all ex-Drakken’s men. Well, it’s not so surprising as in Fairy Tail, we had members of a taken down guild joining the titular guild (Gajeel and Juvia were from Phantom Lord, remember?). So I’m just wondering when Maria will be joining the crew. What a waste to let this cutie disappear just like that, right? Or is that her character’s fate? I don’t know about Couchpo if she is officially an Edens Zero crew because she’s staying because of its magnificent kitchen. Where there’s food, there’s Couchpo! Now you can be assured all your kitchen food will be safe! Yeah, I foresee that’s her main role.

The other intrigue brought to light is Elsie and Justice but of course as we have seen, it is just the tip of the iceberg and is not of any significant importance at least for this season. I’m sure I take relief that a certain B-Cuber b*tch does not have a lot of screen time here. Yes, we viewers could have less of Labilia. It was a short-lived joy to see her being tortured as Drakken’s prisoner. Yes, I’m so evil in wanting to see this b*tch get a little taste of her just desserts. In the end, I think she didn’t learn much and returned to being a b*tchy B-Cuber like always. Yeah, maybe it’s her brand so it’s going to be real creepy to see her being a nice girl. Yikes. Xiaomei has been reduced to some redundant recap narrator, appearing only significantly for a short while to tease us about what’s going on or the possible future and nothing more. There are also many other characters here but of course I’m too lazy to note them all and many obviously appearing in only a single arc before disappearing forever.

Everything else in my opinion remains the same. The art style and animation (still looking a lot like Fairy Tail if you ask me), the action sequences (your obligatory battle and group fights to showcase our heroes’ abilities of course), the brand of humour (I think Happy has been reduced to mostly for some minor comeback comical relief character this season) and of course a handful of new seiyuus. Just to name a few (because I’m too lazy to just list the whole freaking list which is just freaking a lot) such as Rumi Okubo as Kleene/Sylph, Taku Yashiro as Laguna, Kazuhiko Inoue as Xenolith, Kenichi Suzumura as Shura, Takaya Hashi as Nero, Kenji Nomura as Goodwin, Aya Endo as Holy and Rena Maeda as Nadia. I am not impressed with all the themes this season either. Takanori Nishikawa who did last season’s opener is the only one retained for this season’s first opening theme, Never Say Never which has the same rock vibes as Eden Through The Rough. Another rock outfit for the second opener, Kaibutsu by Tani Yuuki. It must be just me since his voice sounds gay… This season’s first ending theme, Rinne by Asca is slow rock. The second ending theme is slightly more bearable to my taste, My Star by Lozareena is a slow ballad but is it my or does the singer sound like Lenka? Or is this Lenka’s Japanese moniker?!

Overall, once again this series is still rather okay in my books. On par with the first season but since it is still a long journey, it is too early to judge anything conclusive. Sure, I do that a lot especially for bad animes but since this isn’t entirely that bad, oh well. And I am pretty sure soon they will have another season because today we have run out of new animes to make and if we’re not doing remakes and reboots, we’re going to have to animate a series right until its source ends. Yeah. That’s today’s trend, I suppose. Because with a lot of sh*tty and not so impressive shows getting sequels (a certain isekai assassin to a certain isekai cheat skill to a certain isekai spirit chronicles to a certain rotten angel spoiling me to a banished hero living a slow life to a certain dead detective – all mostly I do not actually anticipate getting a sequel but looks like they are!!! F*CK!!!), it won’t be long before I hear the announcement of the next season for, wait for it, FAIRY TAIL IN SPACE!!! HAHAHA!!!

Edens Zero

15 May, 2022

Because fans won’t be getting an adaptation of Fairy Tail’s 100 Years Quest arc, I guess we’ll all have to live with the fact that we still somewhat got a Fairy Tail adaptation. But in space! I don’t care if you hardcore fans get stark raving mad and hot under the collar thinking casual viewers and non-fans think about Edens Zero. Because that is what we all basically think when we first look at it. It’s obvious since both series are created by the same author. So I’m saying it again. EDENS ZERO IS JUST FAIRY TAIL IN SPACE!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! So yeah. Instead of a fantasy land with magic, now we have intergalactic space travel and planets and all those sci-fi thingy. That’s right, people. We Fairy Tail are going to space and beyond!!!

Intro Arc

Episode 1
When Shiki Granbell was young, grandpa told him the importance of friends. He wants Shiki to go out there into space where it has everything, to meet people and make friends. The most important aspect is to treasure the friend who will shed a tear for you. Lucy Rebecca Bluegarden and Happy just landed in the Granbell Kingdom. Let’s say this place is a giant amusement park run by robots. They are their first customers in 100 years and will gladly make their wish come true. So, Rebecca wants views and subscribers to her channel, huh? First up, some quest to fight this monster robot cat. However they are spooked to see Shiki fixing it. He is the only human on this planet and WTF after molesting her like that, he wants to be friends with her?! No way! But no matter where she runs, Shiki is always there. Since Shiki is friends with all the robots here, I guess Rebecca has no choice but to be friends with him. They party as Rebecca learns Shiki has never left this kingdom. Who would repair all these robots then? The robots further reveal that Shiki was brought here by the Demon King 10 years ago and was treated like his grandson. But next morning, Rebecca and Happy tied to the pole and will be executed! What happened?! Shiki is as shocked as them. Lord Castellan who rules this place revealed that they will kill her and steal her ship to go to other kingdoms. Humans are the enemies! Robots will rise! Oh sh*t, this turning into some Terminator crap?! All the robots whom Shiki thinks as friends have turned against him.

Castellan further reveals that Shiki never really repaired them. All of them just played their role. An auto repairing system is what repairs them. The robots feel (?!) they have been abandoned by humans who no longer have use for them. Hence now it’s the time to strike back. As Shiki takes a beating, Rebecca screaming that it doesn’t matter who you are. Human or robot, you can be friends. That is when Shiki’s power activate. More accurately, Ether Gear which is some form of magic passed down by the Demon King to him. This allows Shiki to fight better than the robots who are precise in their aim and all. After defeating Castellan, Shiki takes Rebecca and Happy to escape in their ship. He wants to stay back and hold off the robots but friends don’t abandon friends, right? And off they go into space. First time Shiki seeing things from space and is awed. Further revelations revealed that the robots were just playing the villain. All a ploy to get Shiki off this planet before they shutdown forever. Castellan was told by the Demon King to prepare for this when that time comes. And just in the nick of time, the robots go offline. While Shiki is excited to go explore new planets, he is sad in leaving behind his home planet. Despite his friends turned rogue at the last minute, for the most part, they were still his friends. Thanks for being my friend.

Episode 2
Rebecca explains there are many universes and they are currently in Sakura Cosmos. Rebecca and Happy are digital influencers who upload videos from planets they travel to. So, they’re called B-Cubers, huh? Seeing their job is dangerous, they hope to rope in Shiki as their bodyguard. Of course, Shiki’s goal to make more than 100 friends in various planets means Rebecca needs to register him as an adventurer in a guild back in her planet, Blue Garden. Upon landing, the country bumpkin almost embarrasses her by asking others to be his friend. But then he notices a huge lady in the centre. That is Mother. Shiki remembers grandpa telling her that Mother exists somewhere in the universe and can grant wishes. An emotional Shiki begs Mother to grant his wishes of friends. But Rebecca have to tell him the truth that this is just a hologram. The real Mother is much larger and is somewhere in the universe. Long ago, an adventurer stumbled into her. Over time, she became worshipped as a God across the universe. When Shiki thinks he has met Mother before, everyone laughs at him. Even more so when Shiki tries to make friends with them. I think that’s enough embarrassment for Rebecca today. But once they get out, a punk kidnaps Happy! A shocked Rebecca remembers the time they met each other. Both were lonely and abandoned. It didn’t take long before they grew close to each other. She named Happy so because they’ll always be happy together. Shiki’s Ether Gear enables him to chase down the punk. But looks like his big bro and other thugs are here. While Shiki could easily pummel them with his Ethel Gear, the big bro uses his gatling gun to cause havoc. In this chaos, Happy is freed and reunited with Rebecca. More flashbacks how Rebecca was devastated when Happy was killed in an accident. The next shocker is when Happy reveals himself to be a robot and transforms into a pair of guns for Rebecca! OMG! 100% direct headshot! Is she a top player in Call Of Duty?! She owns everybody but of course Ether Bullets only hurt you but don’t kill you. Even big bro loses to her. In the aftermath, Shiki learns Happy is really a robot. After that accident, Happy’s body was replaced with this mechanical one. But Rebecca didn’t care. Happy is Happy and they’ll always be friends. Space pirate Erza Elsie Crimson learns that Shiki has left Granbell and seen on Blue Garden. That’s her next destination.

Norma Arc

Episode 3
The gang meets Clarisse Layer who is the receptionist for Shooting Starlight Guild to get Shiki registered. Then they also meet Wendy Labilia Christy and you can guess that she is Rebecca’s rival and absolute b*tch. Top B-Cuber, eh? More lie B*tch-Cuber, HAHAHA!!! But Labila has got the fans and subscribers as she mocks the lowly duo. With Rebecca close to tears, Shiki uses his Ether Gear to scare her for making his friend cry. Rebecca takes him away to prevent further damage. You think Labila would gain a new enemy or worse, fall in love with him. But rather, she is curious about their relationship and thinks this should be a new interesting content! After Shiki obtains his adventurer licence card, he gets this idea to go see Mother. Not only this will make all those who laugh at him eat their words, it will be great content for Rebecca’s video. Yeah, top B-Cuber definitely. Of course Mother is not in Sakura Cosmos and Rebecca’s ship isn’t possible to cross the galaxy. They need to go see Professor Weisz Steiner on Planet Norma to make a better ship. Weisz is also the one who made Happy’s robot body. Meanwhile Elsie is at Shooting Starlight and asking whereabouts about Shiki. One of the adventurers saw him and points out where they went. As Rebecca’s side heads to Norma, a curious Shiki wants to try pilot her ship. Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be one hell of a ride! Beginner’s luck until Shiki hits some pillar! Crash! Don’t worry, his Ether Gear and make the ship unstuck. Shiki thought this planet is raining logs but those are actually earth Ether crystalized. So if you don’t know what Ether is, it’s a good time for a brief explanation that they are the power source of everything. To put it simply: Magic. Ah, yes… Magic. If you wonder how anybody can live on this planet raining log crystals, well, everyone is living underground. It’s thriving underneath. They visit Weisz’s place but looks like he isn’t home. However they are held at gun point by this guy who thinks they are trespassers. Wait, you mean this young dude is the professor?! He doesn’t know who the hell they are either. Suddenly we jump 20,000 years into the future. A couple of space archaeologists find a body of a man and woman together. They pick up a locket that seemingly looks like it belonged to Rebecca. They see ‘Edens Zero’ engraved on it.

Episode 4
Weisz tells them to get out of his house and thinks they work for Sibir. However Shiki intercepts an intruder and Weisz uses this chance to escape. The intruder thinks he is in cohorts with Weisz. Later Rebecca shows pictures of Weisz and he is a really old dude. Nothing like this young punk. When they realize they can’t use the internet and the news showing the launch of Blue Garden, they realize they have gone back 50 years in time! So could it be that Weisz is his younger self? They are then confronted by Sibir and his men. Sibir thinks they are Weisz’s friends and have stolen his money. They escape but when Sibir’s mecha catches up to them, Shiki’s Ether Gear defeats it with one punch. They take refuge at a bar since Rebecca remembers this is where old Weisz used to hang out. Perhaps they can meet him here. Don’t look now but he’s sitting right next to them! They tell him they’re from the future but he finds it hard to believe. Especially this old future dude. Because he won’t tell them the contents of the case he stole from them, Shiki steals it instead. However his Ether Gear stop working as well as all electronics. What comes out of a case is a little anti-robot named EM Pino. Her power disrupts anything electronic albeit it only lasts for a few seconds. Yeah, Happy went offline a while there. Shiki finds her cool and wants to be friends. Request accepted! Hooray! It seems Pino woke up after hearing voice of her master. But when they mention Sibir’s name, she goes into shock mode. She gets scared and runs away. Weisz laments there wasn’t any money in the case but thinks Sibir was going to do some electronic hacking. Now he wants to use Pino to steal money that way! Shiki and Rebecca soon learn Sibir is this local’s thug and if he has his eyes on you, you’re dead. Weisz was once part of his gang but betrayed him. Since Shiki still has a case, out it comes a B-Cube. It plays a video of Sibir abusing Pino to a point where he tears of a leg! Then he forces her to erase memories of her previous master and install him as the new one. Realizing that Pino also came from 50 years in the future, you bet our mad heroes are going to save Pino and teach Sibir a lesson. Yeah, screw changing history!

Episode 5
Pino returns to Sibir who plans to use her to take over the town. However he wants to punish her for running away despite it’s not her fault. He is about to tear off the other leg but here is Weisz to the rescue. Shiki’s side at the same time comes crashing in and during this chaos, Weisz takes this chance to steal Rebecca’s ride along with Happy and escape with Pino. Warm up for Shiki as he uses his Ether Gear to pummel the goons first. But then Sibir uses the crusher to crush him before heading out to chase Weisz. He leaves the Foote Brothers to deal with the rest. Shiki is still alive but in the scrap area. He thought the robots here are from Granbell but looks like they are just different models. Seeing their sorry state, he tries to fix them but to no avail. He wasn’t even a mechanic to begin with. The robot feels grateful that he is able to meet a nice human like him unlike Sibir who treated them like toys before throwing them away when they broke. After going offline, you bet Shiki is going to be very mad. Just in time because the Foote Brothers are about to harass Rebecca. Yup, those damn perverts have feet fetish! In just one blow enough to send them to their defeat. Time to find Sibir. Meanwhile Sibir has cornered Weisz. Weisz wants Pino to use her EMP to neutralize Sibir’s mecha but she can’t defy her master. Great timing as usual before they become mincemeat, Shiki ploughs through the mecha and gives Sibir a good punch. One isn’t enough so the next one has got to be some devastating gravity punch that knocks the hell out of him. Time to pull the heartstrings as he tells off that machines are living things with a heart of their own. With Sibir down for the count, his payo pet owl activates his mecha to have a stranglehold grip on Shiki. He can’t break free. That is when Pino uses her EMP to neutralize everything, setting Shiki free. Pino’s defiance is because she doesn’t considers Sibir her master anymore. Pino notices Shiki a bit wounded and notes he cares more about machines than himself. Shiki corrects that it isn’t about humans or machines. It’s about friends. How many buckets of tears Pino has shed this episode?

Skull Fairy Arc

Episode 6
Sibir and his men are arrested and his plot to steal military equipment using Pino is revealed. As for why Pino came from the future, she can’t remember due to her deleted memories. Rebecca thinks Weisz is her master because the signature on her maintenance case belonged to him. Shiki and co have to run since the police are also chasing them due to no valid ID. Weisz is force to run with them since they think he is Sibir’s men. As Rebecca blasts off in her ship, it seems they cannot break through the clouds. Unknown energy barrier. That is when Weisz proposes to hand over the ship to him or risk all being captured. No choice, Rebecca lets him pilot and he uses his Ether Gear to remodel the ship’s parts into a more efficient system to break through! Once in space, the old professor manages to contact Rebecca. Some confusing explanation that Norma was eaten by some evil monster known as Chronophage. Hence it was robbed of its 50 years. Hence they didn’t go back in time but rather Norma has been stuck 50 years in the past. That’s why it has been listed as a forbidden planet that no one can visit. And there’s also something about no time paradox so there is no danger of Weisz meeting themselves. Hence this younger Weisz might be the same person but exists entirely as his own entity. Oh, so that validates the existence of 2 Weisz, huh? As for if Weis could be Pino’s master, he claims he only fixed her but her master could be the Demon King. Uhm, Shiki’s grandpa? Communications break up since they are captured by the giant pirate ship of Skull Fairy that belongs to Elsie. She wants to plunder them but Weisz tries to defect and join her crew, claiming he is a good mechanic. However Shiki doubles down and will plunder her instead. Elsie throws him a challenge to come to her chamber. Shiki barges ahead while the rest have to fight goons with tentacle arms! I can see where this is going for Rebecca… Yeah, this is going to get lots of views! Enjoy your view while it lasts as she uses Happy in gun form to blast free. Shiki has reached Elsie and what’s this? She is made of bones?!

Episode 7
Elsie wants to see Shiki’s power. As they fight, Shiki remembers his training with grandpa. He was always left frustrated because grandpa was always so strong. But don’t give up. One day he will become the strongest. However, grandpa then died and this left Shiki devastated since he couldn’t learn some final ultimate move. While the fight rages on, the Interstellar Union Army (IUA) has surrounded Elsie’s ship. But they are picking up weird Ether signals that is on par with the Demon King. Elsie further reveals that Ziggy (the Demon King) tried to look for Mother but failed. Shiki is relieved because this means there are things that grandpa couldn’t do. Shiki manifests some move and defeats Elsie. However she turns into some little bug?! The real Elsie communicates with them via screen. It seems that Elsie in which Shiki fought was a parasite that mimics human form. You see, Elsie brought them here to clean up this ship! Yeah, they’ve gotten rid of the bugs already. But of course doing so means they are now owners of the ship. She intended it from the start but wanted to see what he could do. Elsie further elaborates about Ziggy’s quest. She met him on his return trip. Although he failed to find Mother, he picked up Shiki. Ziggy had not much long to live and that’s why he returned to Granbell to raise Shiki. Ziggy left a request for Elsie and that is to give him this ship if Shiki should ever want to go to space. Yes, this ship belonged to Ziggy. Their conversation has been postponed since Elsie’s fleet need to hold off those IUA buggers led by Justice to buy Shiki time and escape. Her last message as she heard from Ziggy is that those who find Mother will be reborn again. As the rest clean up the ship, Pino is left depressed that her master is dead. While Rebecca takes a bath, her Ether activates and she thinks the water has such properties. Then in the bridge, when Shiki sits on the main chair, he activates some sort of control. All control and authority has been passed to him. Herald Witch, an android created by Ziggy and the one who maintains this ship. Damn, she purifies it instantly. Makes all their slogging futile, eh? With Ziggy gone, she recognizes Shiki as her new master. She also transforms this ship to its original form. An interstellar battleship named Ether Drive Eternal Navigation Ship AKA Edens Zero! Roll credits!

Guilst Arc

Episode 8
Witch further explains Edens Zero is not operating at its true capacity. As she is one of the 4 Shining Stars created by Ziggy, they need to find the rest if they want to have hopes in breaking through Dragonfall, the barrier that surrounds Sakura Cosmos. Basically it’s the asteroid belt but with dragons! Witch doesn’t know where the rest left after Ziggy died but knows Sister’s last known whereabouts was on Blue Garden. So they return there and oh dear, another b*tch rivalry with Rebecca and Labilia. The latter being a full blown b*tch and asserting her B-Cuber supremacy so you bet Shiki doesn’t want to be friends with her. With Rebecca and Happy summoned by the guild master, Shiki and Pino go tour the place themselves. Yeah, Weisz has long left on his own. In the alley, Labilia is attacked by a cyborg named Jinn who has orders to take her. Thankfully, Shiki is passing by. He is helping not because he likes her but grandpa drilled into him that he should never turn down anyone asking for help. So while we see the epic Ether fight, we see some ugly frog monster back on planet Guilst. Illega is into collecting beautiful women and now wants to add B-Cubers into his collection. Oh, Sister has a hand in helping him get those on Blue Garden? The fight ends when Jinn receives orders to return. Jinn tells Shiki to come to Guilst if he wants to settle the score. When Shiki returns to the guild, he is shocked to see Happy partially damaged. Apparently somebody attacked the room and took Rebecca and the guild master. Conveniently on the news right now, there has been a series of B-Cubers kidnappings so be wary. Yeah. Thanks for the advice. Shiki thinks the culprit is on Guilst and that’s where he is heading next. Nobody kidnaps his friend and gets away with it.

Episode 9
Rebecca notices there are other B-Cubers on board. Ganoff introduces himself as a member of Rogue Out, a mercenary group led by Sister and other members include Jinn and Mosco. They are going to be sold to Illega. When a B-Cuber couldn’t stop crying, he is going to teach her a lesson but Rebecca protects her and gets abused instead. Jinn reminds him not to damage the goods. As Edens Zero makes its way to Guilst, Pino asks Witch if she could fix Happy. Unfortunately only Sister has healing powers and Witch’s ability is mainly in defence. Looks like Weisz is on board this ship too and he brought this babe, Homura Kougetsu along. Flashback shows after the news reporting the kidnappings, he stumbled into her who was looking for Edens Zero. Since she has this habit to say everything on her mind, her goal is to challenge the Demon Lord. Weisz thought it would be better if they have more hands to help and also he can’t turn down a hot chick. Homura accepts Weisz’s proposal to go help but also with conditions. Get ready to be awed as Homura shows that she is also an Ether Gear user. The B-Cubers are taken to Illega’s hideout and they are shown what they will become of them. This poor idol girl gets turned into a stone just to become his furniture! Oh sh*t. He wants his furniture clean so he unleashes some foam that disintegrates their clothes! Pervy! Better think fast to get out of this or they’ll end up his naked furniture collection! Shiki and co are down on Guilst. Where to find Rogue Out’s base? Can’t miss it. That huge writing on the chapel’s wall. But upon entering, they are faced with Sister. Oh my, straight right to a boss level fight?

Episode 10
Witch finds it odd that despite the same identification code, this Sister doesn’t look like the same Sister she knows. Maybe she underwent some facial remodelling, just saying… As for the boss fight… Not happening. An issue cropped up with the client so she’s going to settle it. She lets her soldiers take care of them and wants them not to damage their bodies too much since she wants to alter them into her soldiers. Homura stays back to fight these soldiers so Shiki and Pino could chase after Sister. They hang beneath Sister’s ship as it heads towards Illega’s place. It seems Illega has refused to pay Rogue Out as they delivered only 29 B-Cubers instead of 30 as per contract. Rogue Out is now having a standoff with Illega’s men and demand to see the fatty frog. Meanwhile Rebecca notices that the foam melts glasses too. Hence the glass where Illega watched them could be their way out. But it is high up. Don’t worry. Human pyramid! All place their hope on Rebecca as she sneaks around through the vent but gets caught by Illega. Before he can do anything illegal to her, Shiki barges in and gives this frog a beat down! So mad that he couldn’t hear Rebecca to tell him to stop. Only Pino’s EMP made him stop. With the other B-Cubers reunited, Shiki has Pino escort them to safety since Jinn is here and they are going to settle their score. Meanwhile Weisz is suspicious of Homura and holds her at gunpoint. He wants to know what her true goal is. Dumb Mosco just came flying in so Weisz demonstrates how he remodelled the entire place as machine guns to take him out. More trouble as Witch detects Chronophage heading towards Guilst.

Episode 11
I don’t get it. Witch says that if Chronophage eats time, all those who are not on the planet at that time will cease to exist. So… Everybody outside Guilst gonna die, I take it?! Shiki better hurry with his fight with Jinn. But the fight is interrupted because Sister is here as she mentions a change in plans. They’re going to take out Illega and seize all his assets. But looks like Shiki still wants to fight Rogue Out. Weisz and Homura’s standoff is postponed because they hear a sound that leads to the basement. A hot chick is chained among the machines. Homura recognizes her as Sister Ivry. Meanwhile, looks like Copa the B-Cuber is missing. Rebecca has everyone carry on while she go look for her. Pino doesn’t understand this inefficiency. So Rebecca explains that friendship thingy. So, is friendship inefficient?! Rebecca stumbles into the room of women turned into furniture. Illega has Copa hostage. If Rebecca doesn’t do as she is told, Copa dies. Illega abuses and humiliates Rebecca. Then his subordinate reports the coming of Chronophage. Must escape! In that distraction, Rebecca steals his gun and shoots him! Meanwhile, Shiki is mad that Sister uses Jinn as her shield. Despite she has healing powers, you bet this doesn’t sit well with Shiki’s nakama-ism. Hence he fires his gravity bullet at all of them. Taking in too much damage, Sister is going to heal herself but is shocked with the appearance of Ivry. She is actually the real Sister but was kidnapped 10 years ago when she landed on Guilst. The imposter begs for forgiveness and claims she intended to give it back but Ivry beats the sh*t out of her! I guess forgiveness isn’t in this nun’s vocab. Can’t blame her. Her identity was stolen and misused for 10 years. Ivry knows about Shiki thanks to Witch’s voice. Now they have to leave before Chronophage eats everything. But first, Ivry must complete the job she came here to do. And that is to free all the women who turned into stone by reverting them back to their normal state. Now Rebecca can return to the other B-Cubers with even more women. Oh, she sure loves to play the waiting game because she’s going to wait for Shiki! As the imposter begs Jinn to save her, you can clearly see he isn’t happy. He did all her did work in hopes his sister, Kleene could be saved. Feeling betrayed, he crushes her head! A mad scramble to leave Guilst as Chronophage will devour the planet in 10 minutes. Wow. Looks more like 10 seconds!

Episode 12
Oh no. Rebecca in trouble. Ground gives way but luckily Shiki here to save her. Power of friendship, right?! With the overgrowth flooding the area, Edens Zero cannot land. Homura uses her sword while Weisz and his flame thrower to clear them. Then Shiki uses his gravity to float on board. Then it is full speed out of here before Chronophage devours the planet. RIP, Guilst. IUA receives report of the death of Guilst. However with this planet hosting scumbags, they think nobody will cry over them. But for Justice, a life lost is still a life lost. Despite that, Captain Jaguar thinks the bigger fish to worry about is the criminal organization known as Oracion Seis Galactica led by Drakken Joe AKA Dark Alchemist. As the gang talks to Homura, it is revealed her sword belongs to her sword master, Valkyrie who is one of the 4 Shining Stars. Currently she is missing and that is why she is on a journey to look for her. As she heard tales of the Demon Lord, hence her wish to also challenge him one day. Everyone is surprised that Mosco is here. But Sister tells them he is her subordinate. When she got caught, Mosco was reprogrammed as the fake’s goon. Rebecca receives a call from Clarisse who is happy she is alright. It seems right now there is a Rebecca craze going on. Those B-Cubers she saved are singing praises of her in an interview and help promoting her channel. Finally getting the views she want, huh? Probably they can’t go back to Blue Garden or Rebecca will be swamped with all the trending busybodies. Since they are near Iron Hill, Sister explains the huge erected statues of the 12 heroes who defended Sakura Cosmos during the dark times. Someone is sitting forlornly on one of the statues and zoom in reveals to be Hermit, one of the 4 Shining Stars.

Digitalis Arc

Episode 13
When they collect Hermit, looks like something is wrong with her. She’s like in a coma. With no physical damage, she has a lot of errors. If she were human, that means she has a broken heart! So nobody can fix her in this state? Well, Shiki suggests to go inside her and fix her! Don’t laugh! You dweebs can’t even come up with a solution! And because of that, Witch believes that’s a great idea! You mean she really never thought of it?! Because she thinks Hermit’s heart could be trapped on Digitalis. It is a virtual and real planet. Basically it started off as a game world but somebody rewrote the programming and the NPCs now take a life of their own. Of course diving into this world means they retain their current abilities but this means if they take damage, their real bodies also take damage. So if they die… You get the idea. Yeah, where have I heard such concept… So they dive into Digitalis and have to create their avatar. While Rebecca and Happy easily choose their own, Homura becomes a man and Weisz a woman! Pino a human and Shiki a super buffed muscle guy?! Or is it some caveman dude? Anyway, they head to the nearest town, Drimille and talk to the NPCs to get info. Nothing much. As they leave, they stumble into a friendly troll monster. Seems he is fleeing a mass murderer named Jamilov. He has been killing players and NPCs and devastated the town of Crysta. However he has not been banned. As for Hermit, it could be she is the girl on the hill, staring into the sky and doing nothing. So as the gang head into Crysta, looks like they already stumble into Jamilov who seems to be getting his kicks in killing everything. He thinks players give him more joy than NPCs. Oh look, a few players dead like sheesh kebab. Oh, did this psycho say he works for Drakken too? Shiki doesn’t give a damn. He’s going to beat the crap out of him. Meanwhile Hermit seems disappointed at Ziggy’s lies. Robots may have hearts but humans do not!

Episode 14
Jamilov has his scythe, Maria turn into a monster that devours anything. Thank goodness Shiki only lost his wig, huh? Good news for our heroes because looks like Drakken has called for a meeting so Jamilov logs off and will finish this later. After confirming with the survivors, they locate Hermit on a hill. They tell Hermit what’s going on and who they are but it seems Hermit will not go with them. She likes it here. Even more so when she says she hates humans. Can’t force her to go with you, can they? Back at their inn as they ponder about this, a large swarm of monsters arrive outside town. Led by Guiron, under the orders of Jamilov they will be taking over this town. They will kill all NPCs and take in the players alive for Jamilov to kill. Once that is achieved, these monsters will be slaughtered by Jamilov himself for his pleasure. Oh well, with their overwhelming numbers, don’t think about it. Because Shiki just jump in to fight. Meanwhile Homura is missing and it seems she has been in contact with an informant to locate Jamilov’s whereabouts. Once she finds him, she claims she wants to join Drakken and will do anything. Hermit resigns to her fate of being killed by monsters. Better than dying at the hands of humans. Of course Shiki saves her. She doesn’t trust him so it’s time to play the friendship card. With our heroes having trouble with the monster numbers, the troll steps in to help. He protects the NPCs from the large swathe of arrows aimed at them. A little NPC girl is in danger of being killed by Homura but Shiki saves her and gets injured. I believe this scene is part of the process to change Hermit’s mind set. Yeah, hear how Shiki defend the NPC girl because despite she is just data, she still has a heart! Homura rejects the notion that they are allies and that she lied about finding Valkyrie. She gives them a chance to escape or die. Jamilov can’t stand the drama and has his goons fire. There’s no way Shiki can save everyone from this huge swathe of arrows, here comes Homura swatting every last one of them! Wait. What?! The true Homura?! Did they troll us again?!

Episode 15
True enough the real Homura found herself in prison when she came to this world. She spent the whole day breaking out and gathering info. Jamilov is fed up of this farce and wants to start killing. Shiki fights him while Homura goes after her imposter. It is revealed she is Amira from Galactic Intelligence Agency (GIA) whose specializes in copying the abilities and memories of others. Her goal is to get to Drakken and Jamilov is just a stepping stone. Damn, a government spy gave her identity away? Worst spy ever! She manages to log out in time before Homura slices her. Yeah, why the heck did she need to run for if she was going to log out eventually? Back to Shiki’s fight, because Jamilov can reprogramme the codes, he makes himself invincible. However as Hermit puts it, if he is cheating, they can also cheat in their own way. The basic fundamental is that Jamilov doesn’t get banned because his reprogramming shifts the crimes to other players’ account and lets them get banned. Hermit will do the same and it is Weisz account who will get banned since he doesn’t care too much for this world. Hermit starts by buffing up Shiki and equip him with various armour each time Jamilov undoes it. Eventually Jamilov does the final code and that is to destroy this world and its NPCs. Everything gonna vanish in 3 minutes. What do you mean Hermit can’t undo it?! I thought she’s a genius hacker?! But it’s all only data, right? Not if Shiki keeps spamming how they are alive!!! That better reach your heart, Hermit! As Hermit points out, Shiki is way stronger than Jamilov. Despite his cheats in Digitalis, there is some max limit to it. As you know, real abilities can be performed here and that means Shiki is way stronger than him! Oh, just about 2000-2500? Damn, I thought it was over 9000!!! Power of friendship is unstoppable!!! Jamilov gets beaten up until he knocks out and logs out. Somehow this cancels the final code and everything reverts to normal. Although Hermit returns to Edens Zero, she still puts on that sour mood and won’t join them. She’ll return to Digitalis once she is repaired. So her heart isn’t back yet? Suddenly the ship is attacked. It is Spider who is the universe’s best hacker. Yup, he is Jamilov. It’s payback time as he takes over the controls of Edens Zero.

Episode 16
Spider is also destroying Edens Zero from within. So Witch can’t fix it even if she’s the defence expert. Weisz also can’t so I figure he isn’t that good of a fixer. And Sister can’t heal anything that is non-living. Yup, all boils down to Hermit. And she continues to sulk. Ah yes, flashback time. 15 years ago, when she was a hopeful and bright eyed robot assistant to Dr Muller and his group of researchers, they were creating some Ether accelerator device to send to save Planet Hook which is inhabited by only androids. Because everyone considered Hermit as her friend, you bet she is feeling all that fuzzy friendship feeling. When the device is completed and they fire it at Hook, suddenly they receive a distress signal from the said planet. It seems the Ether is not compatible and any more of it will destroy them. And just like that the entire planet exploded! Hermit is in shock but that is when Muller and friends reveal their true colours. Their goal was to destroy Hook as they hate androids masquerading as humans. Now they want to kill Hermit too but they have other ideas to use her as a test subject. For 2 years, Hermit is abused and experimented on by Muller until she is like a zombie. Uhm, robot zombie? One day, the IUA busted the place and arrested the researchers. And they just let Hermit go like that?! Well, they think she has not much left to live and allow her to choose a place to die. So that is how she ended up on Digitalis since there were no humans but now her trauma is back to deal with these backstabbing creatures. Okay, time for Rebecca to weave her magic. Yup, add in some tears and tell how Shiki also went through the same thing but in reverse. You know, robots he considered friends attacked him. But in the end, he never hated them and thanked them for being his friends instead. Hermit is moved to tears but still not convinced. Just abandon Edens Zero without her. No can do. They believe in her and that’s why they didn’t abandon ship. I guess with Hermit crying harder, this signals change in heart, right? Yup. Just like that she restores Edens Zero’s controls and even hacks Spider’s location. She fires a cannon at him but she just trolled him because it’s just fireworks. Fireworks in space?! Anyway, Spider got so scared he wet his pants. Everyone else so happy and Hermit putting up the most beautiful smile trademark.

Mildian Arc

Episode 17
Jesse who is Amira’s informant on Digitalis is also part of Elsie’s crew. Looks like he wants to bring her down as much as Amira wants to take down Drakken. Spider goes to see Drakken but he and his subordinates are in the midst of torturing a guy who failed to pay his debts. Of course Drakken will not kill him since that won’t pay off his debts and sends him to work in some shady job. Drakken hears out Spider and is not very happy he got beaten by grunts and even more so he used his name. Viewing his name is important in doing business (because money is everything to this guy), he has Seth Anderson shoot and kill him. So fast his draw that Spider didn’t know what hit him and just died seconds later! Now that Spider can’t earn him money, Drakken believes Edens Zero is an interesting name that could make him some money. Edens Zero is now trying to find Valkyrie. Homura was at Blue Garden because she thought Sister was there. In fact, Sister once worked with Blue Garden’s guild. Sister now remembers that the guild master, Noah Glenfield is a bit strange. During the kidnapping incident, it is strange that he got taken away. I mean, only female B-Cubers got kidnapped, right? Could it be that he has connections to the underworld? Sorry Shiki, can’t beat up this guy for putting your friends in danger. Have to prioritize Valkyrie’s whereabouts. Hermit thinks they can seek the help of a legendary fortune teller on Planet Mildian where time stand stills. Reaching there, they meet that legend, Xiaomei who prefers the term time oracle. In fact, she knows everything. So, she’s God? But she can’t tell Valkyrie’s whereabouts for free. Since she don’t need money, what compensation would be equivalent for this info? Aha! She drops them into a fighting coliseum. Dragon Edens Ball Zero coming up!

Episode 18
Shiki’s team must win all their fight against Xiaomei’s selected warriors if they want to know get that info. Oh, apparently Xiaomei despite being omniscient, one of the things she doesn’t know is the outcome of fights. Uhm, but can she backtrack from the future? Well… Possible infinite futures! So the first fight pits Shiki against this macho metal android. Well… Shiki took him down in 1 punch! Not much of a fight… But it sure excites Xiaomei even more. Next is Rebecca against this scrawny boxer who is also a famous B-Cuber. Yeah, his boxing gloves shoot slime that melts clothes! Oh my. Time for Rebecca’s fanservice. He can also erect a barrier that negates ether effects. No problem. Rebecca just kicks him in the face! Rebecca wins. Next is Weisz against this speedy dingo. First he uses Pino’s EMP to render him immobile and then beat the crap out of him. Sneaky. Lastly it is Homura vs… Valkyrie?! Apparently this is just a clone of her. Homura feels insulted because a replica of Valkyrie only means a mockery of her. But as Homura fights her, Valkyrie manages to stay a step ahead of her. A brief flashback showing Homura’s village massacred and she could’ve been a victim too had not Valkyrie came to rescue her. A meek Homura couldn’t say what she wanted to say so Valkyrie told her to say it properly because words will give her the power. Homura uses her own weakness as advantage to slice a nasty one across Valkyrie and wins it. Of course as revealed, this is just an android with personalities and traits that Xiaomei models closely to Valkyrie. The real deal is way tougher than this. With their win, Xiaomei reveals Valkyrie’s whereabouts in a faraway planet called Sun Jewel. For the great entertainment, she also tells them an extra info that Mother is real and is somewhere in this vast space. Xiaomei met her before and was granted this time oracle powers. But in exchange, she lost memories of her location. Because she can grant any sort of wish, she hopes Shiki and co can help prevent this from falling into the wrong hands.

Sun Jewel Arc

Episode 19
It will take 3 days to reach Sun Jewel as they have to go around some garbage belt. They see a school of space fish swimming through. It could be they are from Aoi Cosmos. But they also spot among the fish, a guy holding a helm?! Taking him in, Captain Conner claims he somehow lost his ship in an accident as he is from Aoi Cosmos. He wants to be the captain of Edens Zero. No way! While they let him stay on board, this guy is acting weird like taking the same bath with the ladies and teaching Pino swear words!!! How does Pino not get F*CK YOU correctly?! The last straw is when he tries to pilot Edens Zero. But everyone is shocked that he has taken only 1 day to reach Sun Jewel. We have arrived. Awed but suspicious who this dude really is. Unknown to them all, it seems he is the captain of Edens One! On Sun Jewel, the gang visit the rich part of town. Inside the casino, Homura starts shouting for her master. Maybe there’s a more effective way to look. Suddenly a robbery takes place. Of course Shiki won’t listen and beats the hell out of them with Homura’s help. In the end, some light engulfs the robbers and because they have committed a sin, they will be eliminated. Nothing is left within that light. Let’s just say the ground is just red after that. While those rich folks cheer, they claims had Shiki did nothing, it will be fine too since Kurenai Fujin protects them. On the poor side of town, an informant tells Valkyrie that Homura is here. Drakken talks to Kurenai and needs her special skills to find Edens Zero. A couple of Punishers, Kurenai’s subordinates arrive at the crime scene to also judge Shiki and Homura. They find them guilty. You see, any sort of violence even if it is for self-defence is illegal. For that, they will be executed. A light engulfs them and just like that they disappear!

Episode 20
Thank goodness they’re not dead. As explained, they’re whisked away to the labour district to mine metals. Once they’ve mined their quota, they’ll be free to return here. Inside the mines, bug phobia Shiki paralyzes from all those bugs as Homura tries to cut them all but there are just too many. A few miners arrive to save them. They explain what’s going on. These bugs only mine 1 metal each (they’ve got to mine 100,000 to be free!) and there are other bigger monsters that yield higher value. Back in town, they see Garrot beating up a guy who didn’t mine enough quota. He serves Kurenai. Although violence is allowed here (otherwise, how to mine metals?), defying him is the same as defying Kurenai. Not only the perpetrator will be punished but it will be collective punishment. Shiki and Homura are whipped by him and they can’t do anything. But Garrot takes Homura away. Shiki wants to rescue her but Homura tells him not to make any more trouble and will find a way to gather more info. Meanwhile Kurenai burns the face of a model who casually touches her. Then she asks her assistant, Ward if he knows anything about Edens Zero. Even a well travelled guy like him doesn’t know. Kurenai has struck a deal with Drakken to get it because its Ether Drive is worth much more than all the metals here. Although her cut is only 30%, she intends to play him out and get 100%. Rebecca is surprised that Labilia is here. She claims she knows a way to the labour district if she does her a favour. Apparently she must cosplay as this magical girl character and do stuffs in front of her character. It is also a win-win for them since both their channels will get lots of views. Rebecca’s usual dress is skimpier than this one so not sure why she’s feeling so breezy about this. Anyway, she does as she is told. On the stage, the final act is to do a trademark pose for the camera. After doing that, slime is dumped all over her! Labilia and those rich annoying audiences start laughing her ass off. Ironically Pino gets upset and tells them to stop. Labilia won’t since this is a prank video to begin with. While Rebecca is fine with all that, the kicker comes when Labilia reneges on her promise to take them to the labour district. She goes off to edit her videos. But there is hope since another top B-Cuber, Nino hands her a note. As Kurenai can hear all conversation, this is the safest way to communicate and he’ll show them the way there. Anime will save the universe!

Episode 21
Shiki beats the crap out of Garrot and frees Homura. It is then they learn that if their hands are tied, they cannot use Ether Gear. Wow. Such a convenient disadvantage. They interrogate Garrot but he isn’t telling anything and warps them away to the strongest monster in the mines. As Nino leads Rebecca to the district labour, he reveals he works under Kurenai but decides to help them seeing how cute Rebecca is in her cosplay. He also lets them know that Kurenai has sharp ears and has heard someone (Rebecca) saying Edens Zero, hence she sent him to get her. Of course he will report he didn’t find her. But they’re on their own in the labour district. There, a mechanical bird leads them to Paul who is supposedly Valkyrie’s disciple. He demonstrates his special skill in stealing. Sure he isn’t just a panty thief? He has a cube for Homura but wonders if he should give it to her because it contains the truth of why Valkyrie came here and the reason she can never leave. Homura is having a hard time fighting with Black Rock (that strongest monster) and Shiki is out due to his bug phobia. But thanks to Rebecca’s great timing, she is here to help. Eventually with their cooperation, they take out the monster. Their counter reaches zero and is supposed to be free but looks like it resets back to 10,000! Paul notes that Kurenai doesn’t intend to let her prisoners leave and that way they will mine for her till they die. Paul then gives the cube to Homura. Meanwhile Kurenai has heard that Valkyrie’s followers are planning an uprising so she’s going to counter that by burning down the labour district.

Episode 22
Looks like Homura has seen the truth. Everyone is in shock. Flashback 10 years ago on Planet Oedo, after Valkyrie took Homura in, the latter always seen her as a mentor instead of a mom. This is because her real mom left the planet before the war to make money. Hence Homura’s mom was actually alive. A few years later as she grew up, a couple of bullies wanted Homura to hand over her robot (do they want to have sex with it or what?!). She refused and ended up punching one of them who was the magistrate’s son. The magistrate tried to be fair about this kid’s quarrel and will drop everything as long as Homura apologized. However she would not even when Valkyrie ordered her to. That’s because he insulted her mentor and he should be the one apologizing. They almost fought again and had to be restrained. Viewing herself as the source of this, Valkyrie decided to leave the planet to go look for Homura’s mom. She left a note for Homura but the cat ate it… Valkyrie then went to see Xiaomei and was told of where Homura’s mom is. Guess who? Yup. It’s Kurenai! When Valkyrie found her on Sun Jewel, she was impoverished and in debt. Valkyrie would have Paul steal her collar but that will not do because she feared they may target Homura if her debts were unpaid. Hence Valkyrie agreed to take on her burden so she could return. However a couple of years later, she learnt that Kurenai has married the baron of the planet and assassinated him to take over his wealth and assets! Greedy Kurenai then let loose a horde of monsters to force miners to keep mining. Valkyrie has all the miners retreat to safety while she fought the hordes. In the end, she died fighting. And this truth has sent Homura bawling like a baby as she sees her mentor’s broken down body, still in the way she died. Uhm, can’t Weisz or Hermit fix her? Oh, what’s this about when the core stops… The miners have long planned to rebel against Kurenai but were waiting for Homura to come. They hope she and her pals will join them. But Homura is still in shock and thinks she won’t recover. Okay, now for Shiki to give his words of comfort of how great a person/robot Valkyrie is. Could’ve been a great friend added to his friend list. Relaying his experience about grandpa and his robot friends, blah, blah, blah. We know the story, right? That’s why he knows she’ll press on. But good guy Shiki is over. Now we see pissed Shiki’s face. Because he barges into Kurenai’s mansion and is going to teach her a lesson.

Episode 23
Shiki wants to bring Kurenai to see Homura. Not interested? He’ll beat her up first and then bring her to Homura! Kurenai sends her Punishers but we all know they are just for warming up, right? Bad news for Kurenai as the cannon to burn down the labour district has been hacked. It is of course by Drakken who is taking back his toy for something else. And it’s not to find Edens Zero since he has already found it. Kurenai then uses her incomplete mecha to fight Shiki. She will take care of him first before getting even with Drakken. Kurenai so bent in killing Shiki, she’s destroying the entire place! Meanwhile, Punishers are sent to annihilate everyone in the labour district. The rebels put up a decent fight to take them down. But here comes one of Kurenai’s generals, Baku. Who is going to save Rebecca from being mincemeat? Certainly not Homura. She still mourning. It’s Weisz! So he’s got a new armour suit to play with? Is he sentai now? Who the f*ck this Arsenal dude? You mean Weisz, right? With this enhanced metal suit made from Ether and fine-tuned by Hermit, Weisz is able to configure various weapons on the spot. He is having a blast until he realizes he miscalculate the Ether usage. The suit is going to shut down but he still has more than enough time to form the biggest and meanest fist to punch the daylights out of Baku. This will be the beginning of his legend, right? Well, if only the suit didn’t shut down and cause him to go completely naked. Yup, definitely a huge legend beginning…

Episode 24
Shiki’s fight with Kurenai continues. But the fight now drags to the labour district which is revealed to be underneath the surface. As Rebecca goes to get some weapons at the armoury, she is confronted by Nino. His job is to lock the armoury so the rebels won’t get any weapons. He doesn’t want to do this but as a subordinate of Kurenai, her words are absolute. Both don’t want to fight each other but looks like it is inevitable. Nino’s Ether Gear is huge arms. Rebecca takes a direct hit and finds this familiar. Then she remembers the fight on Mildian. Did Xiaomei predict their fight and had them fight similar opponents then as hints? It is then her Ether Gear on her feet activates. Not only she can reverse time, but she is quick on her feet. So right before Nino punches her, she leaps back and then gives him the knockout kick. That kick will save anime, right?! Meanwhile Homura has come to her senses and realizes she needs to get back fighting. However Garrot gets on her nerves and makes her real mad when he touches Valkyrie’s body casually. The last straw came when he lops off Valkyrie’s head. Mad Homura strikes all her swords at him but he manages to restrain her with that hands-tied-up loophole thingy. However Homura has the last laugh because during the attack she has used Valkyrie’s sword. Garrot panics to find it missing but that is when the sword in the air falls and stabs through him. Good riddance. Homura thanks her master for saving her again. But this time she is glad to have friends.

Episode 25
All that’s left is Shiki’s fight with Kurenai. Despite her homing missiles, Shiki is smart to lead it to her mecha. Even if it doesn’t destroy the machine, Shiki uses his gravity to destroy it while holding back the missiles with his Ether Gear. Her defeat isn’t any coincidence with all the Punishers shutting down. Nino turned them off. Kurenai is brought before Homura and although the rebels want to get their revenge against her, Shiki wants to let Homura decide. First, it looks like Homura is going to kill her because Kurenai doesn’t remember this doll she gave to her when she left. Scared the sh*t out of her as Homura just frees her and then apologizes and only thanks her for giving birth to her. Homura then goes on explaining that Valkyrie thought she needed a mother and hence went on this journey. However Homura realizes that what she needed isn’t a mother but someone to love. Safe to say, she does not feel all that with Kurenai. Valkyrie is more of a mother to her. Hence Homura has no feelings for Kurenai whatsoever and tells her to scram. Never let her see her for the rest of her life again. Kurenai runs away and thought she got off easy. Then she gets ambushed by her slaves who show no mercy in getting even on her. Whether she got raped or not, we all know her just desserts has just begun. When Shiki and co return to Edens Zero, the rest are shock to hear of Valkyrie’s demise. Sister cannot accept it even more so Homura decided to leave Valkyrie’s body there because the locals honour her. And what’s with all that mumbo-jumbo they can try to revive her but can’t because even with all the data and backup, you’re dead means you’re dead. HUH?! Yeah, Shiki doesn’t even get it but acknowledges Valkyrie’s existence via her death. As they must move on, who will replace Valkyrie as the 4 Shining Stars? Sorry, not you Mosco! Homura will take her place. Hey, no rule to say only robots can join. So they try to come up with a new name for her but I guess Homura fits her just fine. Meanwhile Drakken realizes Edens Zero got away and the one he thought he caught was just a decoy. There’ll be another time, right?

X492: A Space Odyssey; 3000 Cosmos In Search Of Mother
I know what you’re thinking. How can something like this just end like that, right? With so much potential and development, it would certainly be a waste for it to just end here, right? Well, fret no more because there is going to be another season! I know. I’m not particularly surprised either and it is too be expected. After all, there are a few more arcs from the manga and by the time the next season hits our shores, they will have more materials to produce another 2 cours worth of anime adaptation. Also, Xiaomei already showed us a glimpse of possible season 2 snippets. Wow. Looking so dramatic and all. Yeah, that’s what you get when you have some sort of a fortune teller in anime. You better not turn it into real spoilers for us then!

It is no wonder with the direction of this anime adaptation is heading and since it is following very faithfully to the source material, you bet there are going to be a lot more stories, plots and other characters to flesh out. After all, this season feels so much introductory and if I have to sum it in just a sentence, it would be just mainly to seek out the 4 Shining Stars and get Edens Zero operating back to its previous maximum capacity. So we’re just gathering the important crew members before we take flight to the next cosmos. Hence whatever questions you have for like Mother and Edens One, we’ll have to wait for next season to see if we’ll get more clues and revelations. Especially that curious 20,000 years’ time skip. Good thing they found her locket instead of her silicon boobs!!! HAHAHA!!! JUST KIDDING! Not seeing that I’m assured those jugs are natural and not artificially enhanced ;p!

First thing I want to get out of the way is to point out how similar the characters look to Fairy Tail. This is perhaps the main reason why many view it as just Fairy Tail in space. I mean, despite from the same author, because of the closeness and resemblance of the characters, it is very hard for people like us to not actually see it as another Fairy Tail reincarnation. Heck, when Fairy Tail was adapted, at least they had their own character designs and did not borrow much from the author’s previous work, Rave Master. Hence there is this dilemma of mine as I begin to wonder if taking character designs after Fairy Tail so much is just plain lazy and lacking any creativity. Or, this might be some sort of ‘soft landing’ because many can’t believe the main Fairy Tail story has ended so by seeing familiar characters, it gives us some sense of nostalgia. Either way, it’s still just Fairy Tail in space, RIGHT???!!!

So don’t blame me when I start to see Fairy Tail characters in Edens Zero. Yeah, probably it gives some people like me the joy to identify certain characters. Like Shiki who is actually a combination of Natsu and Gray, right? Perhaps they want to make us think there is some sort of connectivity and set in the same universe too. Because like Justice, Elsie and Happy, they’re pretty having the same seiyuu so yeah, are they descendants and related to Mystogan/Jellal, Erza and Happy (the Fairy Tail one). Oddly with Rebecca looking so awfully similar to Lucy, they didn’t get the same seiyuu. Perhaps they still can’t forget the sex scandal on Aya Hirano, huh? Then there is Oracion Seis. Yup, from Rave Master to Fairy Tail, this group must exist, eh?

Anyway, when I look at the rest, I’m just glad to point out that Weisz = Sting + Laxus, old Weisz = Gildarts, Labilia = meaner version of Wendy (or is it Luvia?), Homura = Wendy + Levi, Pino = Carla, Sister = Mirajane, Witch = Bisca, Kurenai = Minerva, Drakken = Gajeel, Jaguar and Castellan = Makarov, Sibir = Panther Lily, Maria Slime (one of Drakken’s top officers) = Ultear. Heck, if you pay close attention, some Fairy Tail characters do make their cameo in the background like Natsu and Lucy and even that annoying “MEN!” guy. That’s Ichiya, for those who forgot. The only character that doesn’t make me think it is a rip-off from Fairy Tail is Hermit. Because the first thing I thought when I see her… WHAT THE HECK IS HATSUNE MIKU DOING IN THIS ANIME???!!! I thought the bunch of Vocaloids would show up soon after… Edens Zero is animated by J.C. Staff so there goes my conspiracy theory had it been animated by A-1 Pictures.

As for the characters, it is too early to say because seeing that this is going to be one of those long drawn out series, having a couple of cours won’t do justice. I don’t think this will end up like One Piece with such a massive encyclopaedia of characters, maybe it will have as much as Fairy Tail but who knows? Like I said it is too early to tell. And yeah, they’re pretty much the same cliché and following the same ingredient of any such anime in the genre. You know, main character goes on a journey and discovers himself, along the way meets new friends and fights enemies whom some of them may become his friends. It’s not the most original and it has been overdone to death, but I guess the general populace must really love this trope for it to be reused and reused over and over again. I’m not saying it is a bad thing for this series in particular but it doesn’t bring any much excitement to me either. Been there, done that, seen that before. That kind of feeling.

So the only thing I can say to make a character stand out and differentiate them from the clutter of cookie cutters are their peculiar traits. Like Shiki. We all know they’re going to hammer in the friendship and nakama-ism trope a lot because that is going to be part of his goal as he goes in search for Mother. That is going to be the main drive that will get the Edens Zero crew through. Yup, power of friendship and nakama-ism. So how do we make this simpleton Shiki imperfect? Make him fear bugs! Oh yeah. That should do the trick. And his goal of making 100 friends? Thank goodness Facebook doesn’t exist in this universe. But looks like Shiki is making good progress with the people he considers in his friend circle. At this rate he can go past 100! Go Shiki! Instead of making Weisz some sort of nudist who likes to strip ala certain guy in Fairy Tail, we just make him a skirt chaser. Boring. Rebecca? Honestly, I feel this character was purposely written to be a walking fanservice! I know Lucy also had that same vibe but I just feel that Rebecca ups that ante with her busty buxom and skimp dressing (WTF she goes around in that skimpy short skirt and singlet, is it not to attract simp viewers for her B-Cuber, no?!) and in some scenes tempt us with sexy fanservice poses. Oh hell, at this rate I want her to be more than just my friend!

Somebody has got to be the swords(wo)man of the crew and that falls to Homura. Pretty generic for a student who wants to find her master so they make this quirky quirk of hers that she tends to say things on her mind aloud. Funny? Cute? It’s just Homura. Then we have Pino supposedly the cute android mascot because we already have Happy as the cute animal mascot although technically Happy is also an android. So advanced these androids that they have feelings and they start to care about friendship and the likes, they really want to pull our heartstrings, huh? Then there’s the 4 Shining Stars who are basically playing more of the supporting role than anything else. After all, can’t usurp the spotlight from Shiki and co, right? Oh wait. Make that 3 Shining Stars since Valkyrie is already dead. I thought they might pull off some miracle because that’s how this kind of shows work, right? Everybody needs to be happy in the end and for the sake of togetherness. I guess I was wrong. No Valkyrie in the end. Maybe Mother could change that… Or they spring us a surprise next season in reviving Valkyrie… Yeah, I hope not. That will cheapen her character.

I want to think that Mosco is some sort of a joke character. Because what else this fatty sumo can do? We only remember him because of this strange “Do Not Push” button on his belly. It makes us curious what happens when he does that. Some part of me believes it is something stupid (mini fireworks, surprise!) or it could be holding something important (Ziggy’s last true message) or an important weapon of mass destruction (for plot convenience). Once it is revealed, I can’t help the ‘magic and charm’ of Mosco will just die down and he’ll just be some dumb forgotten side character. Moscoy… He could’ve been more memorable had he become part of 4 Shining Stars but I don’t think I want to traumatize myself with that kind of possibility. Thank goodness. From the looks of it, looks like the crew of Edens Zero is not completed yet and I have read online that they will be accumulating more crews as they travel along. Yeah, it now feels like One Piece in space!!!

As for the antagonists, I believe the Drakken isn’t the endgame because I did a bit of reading online (albeit lazily) and let’s say that he isn’t the final boss but someone whom Edens Zero will have a skirmish pretty soon. He may look tough and badass but we haven’t seen him in real action this season so things are still up in the air. Others villains feel typically one-dimensional because that’s how it should be. The plot isn’t that complicated so the villains themselves shouldn’t be that complicated either. For instance, Kurenai. It’s like they wanted us to hate this ungrateful soul and to prop up Homura’s background. So after all that we have seen, do you think she deserves redemption? Thought so.

In Fairy Tail, dragons were the mighty creatures but in Edens Zero, looks like everything so mechanized that even dragons are now robots! Yeah, I have a feeling that Chronophage could be the Acnologia of this series. Androids are so everywhere so I have this feeling that it’s to give that sci-fi feel. We’re in the future, we have space. So we must have robots everywhere! Wow. So hi-tech. I guess it beats having monsters, beasts and demons because that sounds so like medieval fantasy. Speaking of the dumb loophole in rendering an Ether Gear user useless by just tying up the hands, it feels like the same reason why Dragon Slayers easily get motion sickness if they ride on vehicles. Dumb but I guess we can’t make them invincible…

The action bits are rather okay. It is after all part and parcel of the series. While I’m not exactly bored in seeing the mega punches and the likes, I wasn’t really that engrossed into it either. I mean, when you have this sci-fi sounding-like Ether Gear to replace magic but is actually just magic as the main means of combat, how much creative can you get with the combat system? In Fairy Tail, we had different characters who control different elements so it wasn’t that bad. I can’t say the same for the Ether Gear because it’s just like powering you up like Shiki’s gravity themed fighting style and recently Rebecca’s speed. In order to make Weisz to be combat ready, I guess that is why they gave him this Arsenal persona so he can create any weapons he want with his Ether Gear. Same thing for Happy. Other than existing to be making wisecracks, at least now this Exceed can turn into guns for some smoking hot Rebecca action. And Homura basically using swords that are in Ether form. Okay. Whatever.

Voice acting, well I guess I think I’m going to hammer in again how some seiyuus were retained to play very similar characters so as to throw conspiracy theories like me on a wild goose chase. Because when you have Sayaka Ohara as Elsie (previously as Erza in Fairy Tail), Rie Kugimiya as Happy (yup, makes you wonder if this is the same Happy but in android form) and Daisuke Namikawa as Justice (Jellal/Mystogan), you really wonder if it is so. And of course since Aya Hirano didn’t get Rebecca’s part, her character is done my Mikako Komatsu. This means there goes my conspiracy theory of Tetsuya Kakihara voicing Shiki because it’s Takuma Terashima instead. But I can see a conspiracy theory forming in my head because Mother is voiced by Kikuko Inoue. Her real life daughter, Honoka voices Xiaomei. And can you say that Xiaomei is actually the child of Mother?!

Miyuki Sawashiro who played Ultear and Virgo and Fairy Tail, returns here as Valkyrie. Satomi Arai was played Bisca and Asuca, now plays Couchpo (that fatty B-Cuber). Shinpachi Tsuji who was Makarov is now Castellan. Yutaka Aoyama who was Jura is now Sibir. I don’t know if there are other returning casts from Fairy Tail but the rest include Hiromichi Tezuka as Weisz, Shiki Aoiki as Homura, Shiori Izawa as Pino, Yukiyo Fujii as Sister, Kanon Takao as Hermit, Kiyono Yasuno as Witch, Mitsuo Iwata as Mosco, Taiten Kusunoki as Drakken, Ayumi Ayano as Labilia, Houchu Ohtsuka as Ziggy, Mie Sonozaki as Kurenai, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Noah, Megumi Satou as Amira and Yuuki Shin as Jinn.

Eden Through The Rough by Takanori Nishikawa is a rock piece that fits the series like a glove. Though, I wished they maintained this rather than changed it to the second opener, Forever by L’Arc~En~Ciel because this rock piece sounds so gay! Not really liking this one. Although the first one also not really my liking but it still sounds way better than the second opener. The first ending theme is Bouken No Vlog by Chico with HoneyWorks. It’s your typical upbeat anime pop that perhaps fits as Rebecca’s theme better than the entirety of the series. The second theme is Sekai No Himitsu by Sayuri which is more of a slow rock.

Overall, this series is rather okay in my books. Not too shabby but at the same time it isn’t totally a masterpiece. Because it is something new, it is both good and bad because while it breathes something new from the same author of Fairy Tail, at the same time because it looks and feels a lot like Fairy Tail (but in space!), it is just rehashing something but in a different format. Yup, I still cannot break away from that that this is, wait for it, FAIRY TAIL IN SPACE! So there are divided opinions for this show online but I suppose to each his own. Unlike Fairy Tail which has over 300 episodes under its belt, this series is just at its infancy so I can’t really judge it too harshly. I know, first impressions count and personally, it is not all that all bad. Since there is the second season coming, there is still hope for improvement. Though, I’m not counting on it to change very much. Because you know, it’ll still be… FAIRY TAIL IN SPACE!!! HAHAHA!!!
