Video Girl Ai

28 January, 2022

Yeah. Are you old enough to remember what a VCR or video tape is! Does that even exist in today’s era?! Well, it certainly has gone out of trend but I’m sure in less advanced parts of the world, this old form of entertainment still exists. Anyway, long before the internet and if you needed some sort of audio-visual help in whatever, your best bet was the video, right? Because books are too boring! Hah. Anyway! So what if you’re down on your luck in love and need help in this department? Would a simple video tape help do the job? Not if it’s a video girl! Yes, a real virtual girl who pops out from your TV screen to help guide you find your happiness and true love! Video Girl Ai will be there to help you and cater your romantic needs! Your problems solved! Unless it’s a broken tape…

Episode 1
Lonely Youta Moteuchi is watching a video. Yes, before there was the internet, the VCR was your only means of video entertainment. He sees a lovely video girl, Ai Amano introducing herself and all. Suddenly something strange starts to happen. Weird interference and the likes. Before The Ring did it, this show did it first because Ai suddenly pops out from the TV screen! First thing Youta does is to lock all the doors and windows before inspecting her. Yup, looks real. And pretty cute too! Definitely his type. Did he just witness her boobs shrink?! I hope it isn’t static electricity. When Ai comes to, she beats him up before composing herself as she realizes she is acting out of character. Then she plays her role by hugging him and claiming video girls like her are made just for men. She even hints of getting it on with him. Youta takes that seriously as he really cleans himself up and all. Only to be trolled hard. Just kidding! No sex yet! As she continues to be playful with him, Youta remembers earlier in the day, he was browsing a special section of the store and this video of Ai caught his attention. The manager recommends it to him although it sounds like he is speaking in riddles. Youta tries to kick Ai out when she gets too playful. But shedding a few crocodile tears did the trick. Even if she’s a video girl, she is still a girl so don’t play with her maiden heart! Flash a few cute smiles and Youta’s heart is as good as hers. But wait. He is still hesitant. You see, earlier on too, he met the girl he likes, Moemi Hayakawa. Both wanted to tell each other the person they like. The way Moemi hints the guy he likes, definitely it’s his best friend, Takashi Niimai. Against his own feelings, he gave her the encouragement not to give up. Speaking of that devil, Takashi then pops up. Not sure this dude got the cue or not because he casually says aloud that Youta likes Moemi. Youta brushes it off as a joke and only then Takashi got the cue. Yup, just a joke. Not sure why or how, what follows next was Moemi admitting that Takashi is the guy she likes. Oh Youta, you don’t mean to look that shock and drop that can of drink for dramatic effect!

Ai cooks for Youta and looks like she cooks too much. Better be appreciative before she throws her tantrum. When Youta accidentally presses the remote, it seems it has an effect on Ai. She talks real fast if he fast forwards and real slow by hitting the slow button. Yeah, funny. But just as he is about to press the stop button, she stops him in time. She warns him that doing so will make her disappear for good! More so, she is only here for a limited time. One month to be exact. Also, fast forwarding shortens her lifespan! She seals the remote and the VCR. Don’t touch it! Bath time. Yeah, Ai the cock teaser strips naked! Who the f*ck calls at this time?! Oh, Takashi. Want to apologize for the other day? Then he hears Ai in the background. Is there a girl at his place? Nope. Just the video. Technically, not wrong. More Ai playfulness in the bath. Sorry folks, still not sex. She hears about his troubles and gives him hope that Moemi hasn’t rejected him yet. Continuing from that flashback, Takashi then casually said that Moemi isn’t his type. Moemi tried to act tough but of course she ran away in tears. That’s enough drama. Awkward. You bet Youta is so worn out after the bath and heads straight to bed. Ai sleeps with him. Again sorry folks, no sex. But his mind is preoccupied with Moemi. He is about to cry as Ai hugs him and tells him not to give up. It’ll be okay. The words he need to hear before his heart calms down and falls asleep.

Episode 2
Oh my. This time Moemi is the video girl and is coming out from Youta’s TV?! Then she turns into a monster! ARGH! Oh well, just a freaking dream! Another crazy morning for Youta as Ai beats him up. What gives? Here, look at her boobs. It’s gone! So how is it his fault?! He played her on his broken VCR?! Still don’t get it, though. We get it, boobs are her favourite part and so are most of us too! I think she just wants to feel better in beating the crap out of him. Youta can’t even have peace in school as Ai disguises herself as a student. Well, she did say she’ll always be with him. Besides, if he says he loves Moemi, she needs to know what she is up against. Takashi alerts everyone that Youta brought a girl to school! Big news! Youta covers for Ai and claims she is his sister. Ah, no big deal then. Then Moemi passes by. Acts like nothing. Awkward. Then later they talk. Looks like Moemi decides not to give up on Takashi after all. She hopes he can help her. Can he say no? Then she puts her head on his shoulder just to say he is a nice guy. Damn, she’s sending confusing signals! This moment ruined with Ai coming to feel her boobs. Then she re-enacts Moemi’s act with him just to tease him as well as give him hope that he still has a chance with her.

Ai has cook a lot for Youta. But it seems he brought back Moemi this time. She too has bought some stuffs to cook to show her appreciation for Youta’s help. In order to hide all her cooking, Ai has them wait in Youta’s room. Oh Youta, you just put the photo of Moemi on your desk face down and not hide it?! His heart beats as Moemi is in his room. Then he spots Ai’s panties in his bed. Tries to get it but accidentally slips and falls on Moemi. Kissing moment… Interrupted with Ai telling them the kitchen is ready. After dinner, Youta has Ai walk Moemi home. They talk about things including Moemi thinking she should have fallen in love with Youta instead because he is such a nice guy. You think so?! When Ai returns, she sees Youta trying to finish up all her prior cooking. He knows because he noticed her bandaged fingers and all. He wants more? Is he that hungry or he just doesn’t want to offend her? Then he gives her a dress he bought at a store today with Moemi. It’s thanks for always helping him. Apart from all the beat down, maybe. Ai hugs him and teases that she’ll seriously fall for him. While Youta brushes off that Moemi is the only one for him and even Ai claims video girls cannot fall in love, we all know better because she is confused as she feels her heart is starting hurting so much.

Episode 3
Youta thinks something is wrong with the VCR. It’s a bit too hot. However Ai distracts him as he has worn the dress she bought for him and then forces him to take her on a date. She could’ve said something first before Youta bought movie tickets to a romance movie! Yeah, it’s awkward for a video girl to watch a movie. So now what? Bowling. Damn, is Ai trying to kill him by flinging the ball at his crotch?! Then they start throwing bowling balls at each other. Kids, DO NOT TRY THIS AT ALL! Then they play the crane game in which Ai won everything and made him broke. A token of appreciation, she gives him a lousy kappa plushie. To recoup his losses, Ai sets up a side stall in which anyone who wins a rock-paper-scissors game with her will get a kiss. You bet those horny men will part their 500 yen for that. In the end, she wins all of them and earns a hefty sum. She claims she knows what men are thinking since she is a video girl. Really? I thought it’s called clairvoyant or something. As Ai is feeling a bit hot, she wants something to drink. At the restaurant, Ai spots Moemi walking outside and tries to distract Youta. She’s bad at that so Youta spots her. Because of Ai acting strangely, this has Youta becoming suspicious that was she supposed to help him hook up with Moemi? I guess with Ai collapsing from the heat, it avoids her giving an answer. Oh damn, the VCR panels going haywire! Some big sh*t might be going down!

As Youta carries her home, she then starts to feel better. As she acting all playful, this upset Youta as he thinks she was making a fool out of him. He leaves her and so as not to waste those movies tickets, drags Takashi who happens to be there to watch with him. Oh damn, this looks like some gay sh*t?! Two guys watching a romance movie together! So out of place. Then what do you know, Moemi so happens to watch this movie and sits with them! Of f*ck! Takashi saying he is dating Youta?! IS HE JOKING?! Awkward moment as Takashi yawns, Moemi keep staring at Takashi, Youta keep staring at Moemi. I guess he is in no mood so he excuses himself to toilet. Outside, he b*tches about Takashi not returning Moemi’s feelings. Then on TV, WTF this trailer for Thermilor 3: Storming Of Relentless (WTF?????!!!! I WANT TO SEE THIS!!!), a staff notices the VCR getting too hot and shuts it off. Suddenly Youta realizes the problem. Too late to realize himself as the fool as he rushes out to find Ai. Oops, got the wrong girl because of the same outfit. The real Ai pelts him with snow. Short snowball fight. Ai is feeling better thanks to the snow cooling her down. Since her dress is a bit wet, he wants her to change to avoid getting a cold. THEN SHE WEARS WHAT?! Of course she doesn’t want to change since it is the dress he bought for her. Seeing how happy she is, he then shares his jacket with her as they walk off to their own romantic time.

Episode 4
Youta picks up a call from Moemi. She is asking advice on what to give Takashi for his birthday. Will this knitted scarf do? WTF Ai gets jealous and sneak attacks Youta from the back?! At school, as Moemi waits for Takashi to finish his music class, Youta talks to her. She has doubts about giving Takashi something she makes so Youta suggests ditching class and go shop around for a present. Having a blast, aren’t they? WTF jealous Ai sees them together and calls the cops to get those truant students! When the police questions them, Youta takes Moemi and run! This plan backfires for Ai since now the police asks her what school she is from. RUN! Moemi thinks Youta should practice confessing to his crush with her. Does she even know who he likes?! We hear Youta practice his confession as he blurts out I love you to Moemi. Ai just got here so you bet she is going to misinterpret this context. Moemi then ‘rejects’ him because he should be saying the name of the girl he loves. She thought that he was confessing to her. Oh, you don’t know… When school is over, Moemi goes to give Takashi her present. But he declines since it is not his policy to accept gifts. He knows she skipped classes with Youta today (he saw them running out). He hopes both of them can be a good couple but Moemi explains he was just helping her find a present, that’s all. Then he gets mad and yells at her about this. That is when Moemi confesses she likes Takashi. Oh, Youta on his knees like as though it’s the end of the world for him. He does a bad job in hiding, no wonder Takashi can spot him. Moemi apologizes and tries to brush this off as never happened. But Takashi will call her tonight. Later the guys meet to talk about Moemi. Youta trying to tell Takashi to just go out with Moemi. Back home, Moemi is waiting for that call. The waiting is killing her so she calls Youta for advice instead. Youta… He just hangs up! At the same time, Takashi tried calling but the line was engaged. Moemi wonders who is at her door at this hour. Why, it’s Takashi! He accepts her present and they both hug. So it’s official now? Meanwhile Youta is obviously depressed so Ai lets him cry all he wants in her bosoms.

Episode 5
Yes, Takashi and Moemi are dating. But WTF, Moemi still sees Youta in other people?! The entire date, Takashi being a dick giving Moemi the cold shoulder and ignoring her. Youta tries to distract himself via drawing. He thinks of entering this children’s picture book contest. What else can Ai do but support him? As Youta goes to get more supplies, he stumbles into Takashi and Moemi. Moemi whispers to Youta and needs his help to accompany them since she is nervous with Takashi. However Takashi takes her away and declares to Youta to take Moemi away from him if he can. Can this wuss do it? Yup. Thought so. As Ai continues to support Youta’s work, it seems she is feeling some electrifying pain. Is her time up? Or does she realize it’s because of her love for Youta? But video girls don’t fall in love… With things looking bad, I guess Moemi has to ask Takashi if he does love her. Before he answers her question, he wants her to answer him first. Why is that while they’re dating, she only talks about Youta? She might not realize it herself but could it be she is really in love with Youta? He is fine with that. Just find Youta and search for her true feelings. That is his answer to her. As Ai is out to get art supplies for Youta, looks like the electrifying pain has taken over. Youta goes looking for Ai since she is taking so long. Oh, he just missed her in the alley and only because Moemi is there and needs to talk to him. Ai thought Youta came to her but who the f*ck this evil looking dude?! WTF, Rolex his name?! Moemi tells Youta what happened. Word for word what Takashi said to her. So yeah, they broke up. Only then she realized that she will always be in love with the person who will never love her back. I guess it’s still heartache for Youta. Youta returns home but realizes Ai is not back yet. Then he sees the VCR going haywire and realizes something wrong. He frantically rushes out to find her. That Rolex guy brings Ai back to the video store and the manager is against him recalling Ai now because Youta still needs her. But Rolex insists Ai must be recalled because she is defected and has not helped Youta at all. After all, he is her creator so he decides her fate!

Episode 6
Youta looking around desperately for Ai. So desperate that he is calling out that video store. So, you mean to tell me that the last time he entered the store, it was because it popped up?! Youta trying to use this card as authority and proof as long as he has it, Ai is promised for him. Sounds like a mad guy screaming his lungs out in a quiet neighbourhood… Ai meanwhile is being interrogated by Rolex about her role as a video girl. He is disappointed she has strayed from her role and has done nothing to comfort the guy she was supposed to. Ai pleads to the manager that she needs to see Youta. Despite he mentions her time is being fast forward, time in the world is also accelerated. This means a week has passed and definitely Youta has stopped looking for her. Well, well… Look at the video. Look who’s still looking for Ai! Ai begs to make her human if it means failure as a video girl. When Youta returns home, he finally sees Ai. At least her projection from the VCR. Ai explains what is to become of her and confesses she loves him. And then the VCR breaks. She gets sucked in and Youta too. Flashback of their time together as Youta wakes up with Takashi beside him. Seems he knows what is happening because he went to his place and Ai told him everything. Now they are in the video world. He also says Moemi was with him and got caught as well but separated. Youta tries to remind Takashi that Moemi is his girlfriend and don’t abandon her. WTF Takashi says he is more worried about him! Gay! As much as Youta argues Moemi is Takashi’s girlfriend, the latter leaves Moemi in his hands. I mean, what does he see in a video girl? Can she be better than a real one? Sure, she can cook and listen to his problems. But Moemi can do that too and for life. Video girls are nothing more than a dream.

Youta is then sent to another scene where Moemi is. She confesses she is in love with him but Youta keeps pushing her away. Does he really like Ai? Moemi goes further by undressing herself and suggests making love right now. I want to scream at Youta for being gay for rejecting her advances! Suddenly Moemi turns into stone and crumbles away. Now Youta is whisked away to where Ai is. Crucified on some weird motherboard?! Drama not yet ended as Ai is lifted further away and the face of Rolex pops up. He reveals himself as Ai’s creator. That is when Youta realizes everything up to this point was his doing. He planted visions of his friends to change his mind. That won’t do as Youta quickly rushes up the fragile glass stairs. However with each step, they break and it hurts Youta a lot. Metaphor of the pangs of love? Rolex wants to see how far he will go with this love illusion of his. Despite all the bleeding and pain, Youta trudges on until he reaches Ai. Ai saddened to see him in this state but also happy how he feels for her. Despite telling him to go away, he still clings onto her. This made Rolex mad. Yeah, just blow away his biasness, right? So mad that he does a Super Saiyan blast at them! Ai now knows the meaning of love and won’t regret it if she disappears. Ai is freed from her chains as they both embrace. Youta wishes everything in this world would vanish even if it just to spend this short moment with Ai.

True Love Killed The Video Girl
Hmm… Curious… The ending epilogue leaves at lot for open interpretation. Because we see Ai in the flesh going to school with Youta, Takashi and Moemi! Now, before you think that Ai has become a human and freed from her video girl fate, the last of the final scene shows that all of this takes place in the video world! So which means to say that this life that they are now living is just a dream and takes place solely inside the video world?! After all, it is not known if a human who gets sucked in will ever get out again. Even Takashi and Moemi whom we think may be illusions created by Rolex, perhaps they were the real people instead but they just got brainwashed by Rolex for the final episode drama and test of love resolve for Youta. After all, everything in the video world is possible since it is so dream-like state. Yeah, before Inception there was this! Hence all in all, it is up to us to think what actually happened to them but at least we know for sure that Youta and Ai are together. Virtually or in reality, they’re definitely together. It’s a bittersweet ending nevertheless.

Story wise, it’s a pretty simple story as it serves up more of a retro love romance and love triangle drama. Of course I’m going to have to say that going by today’s standards, it just feels barely there because you know, there needs to be a lot more plot twist and other players in the game of love polygon. But for retro sake, many old veteran anime viewers definitely love the simplicity of the drama and all. They consider it as one of those classic love romance titles out there of the old anime days. Well, if it was me who watched this series back in 1992, maybe I would have reached the same conclusion. Of course, watching this after almost 3 decades late, I have to be honest that I am not really that impressed or moved. It’s a bit draggy at times. But it’s to build up the romance drama between the main characters, right? I mean, it’s not really a bad series but it’s not like I needed some tissue papers to wipe away those tears from all the melodrama. Mind you, not tissue papers for some other unholy activity!!!

Speaking of the fanservice, if you are expecting a load of them, you’d be disappointed. The fanservice here is very minimal. There are a few seconds of Ai with bare tits but that is about it. Sometimes it feels like a bait to keep you watching but when you’re engrossed with the real deal that is the romance drama, those tits feel so negligible. Isn’t that why they shrunk Ai’s tits?! Isn’t that why Ai’s initial shocked reaction was because her tits were gone?! So that you won’t get distracted by them when such short scene arises?! Unless you’re a flat chest lover but that’s a different story. Also a few short scenes of the girls in their undies but it is very paltry compared to those ecchi themed animes of today. And of course, incomparable to porn and hentai. Heh. I bet there is one of this out there in the dark web. I don’t know, I’m too afraid to check… Otherwise I’ll be making dumb memes of, “I think I downloaded the wrong Video Girl Ai series… But heck, not bad either!!!”. HAHAHA!!!! Sighs…

I am not sure how popular this series was but the manga was for its time. Anyway, before this retro OVA was made, there was a live action movie of it. I am only speculating that the movie was popular enough to spawn the OVA. I mean, back in the early 90’s, our entertainment options were very limited. No internet too. So what else was there to watch? Even more limited if you’re a big anime fan and there were not many title choices back then. So yeah, maybe I can see that is why old veterans love this series in that sense. Not sure if they drum up the nostalgia factor because back in 2018, this series was given a live action adaptation. Although not a reboot or remake, it is more of a sequel that takes place many years after this one. And then a live action spinoff sequel series in 2019. Of course I didn’t see both so I’m just making big assumptions that perhaps it didn’t quite catch on because you know, video tapes are already obsolete by then and younger generations can’t really connect with them (you do realize that younger people don’t even know why the save button is a diskette icon, right?!) even if the 3D video girl looks freaking cute. Oh sh*t, did I just admit 3D > 2D?!

Okay, back to this OVA before I take a long detour and never come back. So yeah, the whole story revolves around the love drama between the characters. We can say love is a pretty funny thing because for the most part, it was mostly Youta having a secret crush on Moemi. Everything seems to be leaning towards that. Until Ai goes missing and then suddenly all that didn’t matter and now he loves Ai. So was it his feelings for Moemi became somewhat of an excuse to deny that he was in love with Ai all along? I mean, look at how this guy agonized over when Moemi gets seemingly close to being the true girlfriend of Takashi. This guy really is in despair! And then suddenly in the final episode, all that just disappeared and those feelings for Moemi now become those for Ai? What a quick switch. I want to call BS on that but as I’ve said, love works in funny ways. It’s complicated. Even more so watching Moemi trying to get Takashi and sometimes all of her actions for that just screams as a distraction because she was really in love with Youta in the first place. I mean, a cute girl like her confides in a guy like him for love advice?! DOES SHE NOT HAVE ANY OTHER GIRL FRIENDS OF HER OWN TO TALK ABOUT ROMANCE???!!! Sure, Youta is Takashi’s best friend. His best friend, not hers. So yeah, it seems pretty odd and suspicious that she would openly confide in Youta for that. Like as though she was actually hinting to Youta and not Takashi. Now you know why guys are always so confused when girls send mixed signals…

You may wonder why Ai would fall like a plain guy like Youta. Sure, he may not be the most ideally romantic guy that many girls would dream to have, but it is those small thoughts that counts. Remember that crane game thingy as well as that incident where he ate all of her cooking when Moemi was over? Yup. All those. It is easy to see why even a virtual girl like her would develop real feelings for a human. One of those defective tape, huh? Yeah, here I was wondering how the heck is Ai doing her job because she seems to be cheeky, fooling and goofing around and not even doing any freaking support for Youta. And then herald this villain-looking dude, Rolex. Oh yeah. I guess somebody needs to play the antagonist. True enough, Ai didn’t really fulfil her role as a video girl. Not even sure what that means. From what I understand, it means Ai didn’t live up to HIS version of a video girl. He did say video girls are supposed to be the ultimate and unreachable ideal girl for men. So when a guy like Youta eventually proves he loves her, why the f*ck did he get so mad?! Does it not show that your video girl is so perfect that a guy like Youta would choose her over a real human girl?! Or does he think that by choosing a video girl means the video girl isn’t optimum and perfect at all. Hence, a defect. Because video girls are supposed to be like angels and goddesses. Yeah, what a pessimistic guy, if I should say. But it’s not like Ai didn’t completely ditch her job as the same can be said for Youta on why he fell for her. Those small little timely embrace supports sure help to accumulate his love for Ai bit by bit. And in the end, there’s your answer to who loves who. There. Easy? Complicating?

And the weirdest character goes to Takashi. Man, I am not sure if this guy is actually a very good and considerate friend of Youta or he is actually a real gay for him!!! He sounds like he is trolling sometimes with his friendship Youta since the line between male friendship and gay is somewhat blurred here. Hence I am always thinking, was it because his heart is truly with Youta that he has no interest in Moemi at all (and hence being a dick by treating her coldly) or he is such a great friend due to his patience and all as he tries to get Moemi to realize where her true heart lies (and hence being a dick by treating her coldly). Then there is another theory of mine who Takashi is: What if he is a video guy???!!! OMFG!!! Hey, if video girls exist, why not video guys?! The final episode seems to make me come up with this dumb conspiracy theory. After all, it sometimes seems that Takashi knows stuffs especially with Ai and the video world. So could it be he is a video guy? For who then?! For Youta of course! Gay thingy, remember?! After all, their friendship from younger days weren’t really fleshed out a lot so this leaves room for such speculation. Also, not only guys can get broken hearted and need some female support, you know. Even girls need them too. But I guess video guys don’t sound as popular as video girls because you know, that gay connotation. Remember, early 90’s. Gay still taboo subject.

As each episode is touching 30 minutes long, this is because at the end of each episode (except for the last), there is an extra special segment. This part serves to be light-hearted and comical and nothing that would influence the main story. This includes Youta describing the monster that is Ai, a different take of the characters talking in normal daily conversation as compared to the standardized and polite version that we hear in most animes, a shopping channel where you can order Ai who will be delivered to you as well some thoughts from the author himself. But the one that is my most favourite is the one whereby they showcase Ai in different outfits for different seasons. Then they troll us about a naked Ai we all want to see. Too close to see anything from the zoom in or too far to see anything so small? Finally we get the right size and it features… A double naked pose of Youta and Takashi!!! OMFG!!! MY EYES!!! ARGH!!! MY EEEEEYYYYEEEEEESSSS!!!! We apologize for the technical glitch… Oh man, that was the best trolling ever. Can’t stop laughing for a while… Yeah, I’m starting to think gayness might be the subtle theme of this series.

Art and animation reeks retro style anime. But the think I want to complain about is sometimes the colouring and hues can get a little weird sometimes. Like as though the whole world is inside the video world when it’s not. Not sure about the colouring choice they used in some of the shading scenes but it sure looks as hell weird. And sometimes the animation quality for some scenes just feels mediocre. Sure, animation technology not so hi-tech back then but I thought as an OVA, there should have been some sort of quality. Oh right, there were really sh*tty quality OVAs too but considering this title, I thought it wasn’t to be an issue. Maybe I didn’t watch the remastered version? Was there really one? Well, Production I.G made this and this was one of their earlier works before they went on to make hits like Haikyuu and Psycho-Pass. And of course the other part being the character designs. I keep thinking Ai’s design was inspired by Star Wars’ Princess Leia because of her mini cinnamon buns. Is that her hair design? But not as atrocious as Takashi’s because WTF his side burns are standing up like some discount hot rod exhaust thingy?! As for Moemi, I thought she really looks like that character from I”s while Youta looking a bit like Gon from Hunter x Hunter (or was it Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho?).

For the voice acting, Megumi Hayashibara is perfect as the titular character but then it makes her sound so much like the female Ranma of Ranma 1/2 fame. Yeah, feels like an alter ego or something. However my conspiracy theory has been grinded to a halt had they casted Kappei Yamaguchi as Youta. Then I would have a field day coming up with conspiracy theories how this is another alternate reality of Ranma 1/2. Too bad it’s not and Takeshi Kusao voiced Youta instead (Trunks in Dragonball series). The opening and ending themes reek of retro anime style with Ureshii Namida by Noriko Sakai as the opener and Ano Hi Ni by Maki Kimura as the ending. The former sounding more like a sunshiny beach song but with some parts reminding me of Christmas because of its fanfare, while the latter is more of a slow melodramatic ballad.

Overall, if you’re into that old school love romance drama, this should fit right up your alley. Otherwise, it’s just pretty cliché and draggy sappy drama. You think a video girl coming out of the TV screen to help comfort you is ridiculous, wait till you see more recent titles and its bizarre synopsis. Say for example, Kanojo Okarishimasu! Hah! And you thought a loser renting a girlfriend was a dumb idea for an anime itself, huh?! Too bad the video tape trend has gone out of style and with the advent of internet, porn has gotten so much more accessible and now we’re even making life-like sex dolls! Who needs video girls these days when you have Only Fans girls and TikTok stars! Are we really looking for true love? Truly, YouTube killed the video star…
