Top Bishoujos of 2023

30 December, 2023

Welcome back. So it has been already a year, huh? Either time flew like a race car or it was crawling like a snail pace, depending on how your life went. Mine? Well you know the purpose of this final blog of the year, right? Uh huh. If you have forgotten or didn’t read the title, may I remind you it is to shamelessly list down all the hot 2D chicks I have stumbled across while doing my favourite hobby of all time. More anime series were watched but will that translate into more beautiful 2D girls? Because now I couldn’t care less about the quantity anymore since this year just had 15 girls that made the list. Slightly 1 more than last year! Achievement or what? Without further ado, here are the Top 10 Bishoujos of 2023 in alphabetical order:-

1) Akane Kinoshita (Yamada-kun To Lv999 No Koi Wo Suru)

2) Droyes (Kaiko Sareta Ankoku Heishi (30-dai) No Slow Na Second Life)

3) Riho Tsukishima (Megami No Cafe Terrace)

4) Saki Takamine (Romantic Killer)

5) Shiori Goshiki (Ginga Ni Otonari)

6) Shiori Sakurazaka (Fuufu Ijou Koibito Miman)

7) Takina Inoue (Lycoris Recoil)

8) YoRHa No. 2 Type B AKA 2B (NieR:Automata Ver1.1a)

9) YoRHa Type A No. 2 AKA A2 (NieR:Automata Ver1.1a)

10) Yuna Yunis (Yuusha Ga Shinda)

Don’t like my choices? It sucks having inferior beauty standards and tastes but whatever. And for the remainder are in alphabetical order: Kaori Hojou (Isekai De Cheat Skill Wo Te Ni Shita Ore Wa Genjitsu Sekai Wo Mo Musou Suru), Mabel Rayveil (Isekai Ojisan), Mahiru Shiina (Otonari No Tenshi-sama Ni Itsunomanika Dame Ningen Ni Sareteita Ken), Ost Hourai (Tate No Yuusha No Nariagari S2) and Wendy Satou (High Card). Congratulations to all.

Controversially there were a few others like Bai Mongfa (Renai Flops), Lexia Von Alceria (Isekai De Cheat Skill Wo Te Ni Shita Ore Wa Genjitsu Sekai Wo Mo Musou Suru), Ariane Algrens (Hyouken No Majutsushi Ga Sekai Wo Suberu) and Kuroko Usami (Orient S2) that were considered that would’ve blown up the list. But after staring long enough (WTF?!), I guess I felt I was just caught up in the moment and well, uhm, they weren’t as cute as I thought they would be. Blasphemy! Boo hoo! So yeah, I’ll just note them right here just in case. Sheesh.

My love for Mai Tokiha and Suigin Tou is still going strong despite you haven’t heard anything from me waxing lyrical about them. Yeah, it’s only for my ears to (creepily) pay tribute and (creepily) visually fawn over them.

So another year gone and as always, looking forward to next year and it’s not like I watch animes for the cute girls, okay!? Okay, maybe sometimes it is but for the most part, it’s because it piqued my interest for better or for worse. And then lucky me will note a pretty mademoiselle from it and will be committed to my memory until the end of the year. Heh. Don’t blame me for being strange and weird. I’ve always been like that. It is the world that has gone and changed to become weirder and more bizarre! Really! So see you next time. Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top Bishoujos of 2022

31 December, 2022

Another year gone by in a flash just like that. Or maybe it’s just me. Yeah. Because it’s that time again. Same time, same place as always. Time to rank hot 2D chicks that I have seen for the past year. At this point I already don’t care the numbers that made it to my list because quality over quantity, right? So even when I have only an alarming 14 babes that made it, I’m already so numb and don’t even bother sounding the alarm bell because that is 1 short of the total 15 that I got in 2021. Yeah, who cares, right? Not even me. Before I start going off tangent with unrelated complaints and ranting, here are the Top 10 Bishoujos of 2022 in of course alphabetical order:

1) Anna (Saihate No Paladin)

2) Arya (
Kaizoku Oujo)

3) Fuuka Miyazawa (Shiroi Suna No Aquatope)

4) Hannah (Isekai Shokudou S2)

5) Lashara Earth XXVIII (Isekai No Seikishi Monogatari)

6) Lowellmina Earthwold (Tensai Ouji No Akaji Kokka Saisei Jutsu)

7) Marin Kitagawa (Sono Bisque Doll Wa Koi Wo Suru)

8) Sharon Holygrail (Engage Kiss)

9) Tamako Shima (Taishou Otome Otogibanashi)

10) Yume Ayai (Mamahaha No Tsurego Ga Motokano Datta)

A hearty congratulations to the 10 making my yearend list. And for the remainder who didn’t, a notable mention of them will do. In alphabetical order: Gracefeel (Saihate No Paladin), Maria Mizuse (Tomodachi Game), Rebecca Bluegarden (Edens Zero) and Ringo Tatara (Deatte 5-byou De Battle). As always, forever eternal in my hearts:

Like always, I will be hoping there will be better animes to watch (but often my guts tell my otherwise) and in doing so, prettier 2D chicks will catch my eye! It doesn’t matter if the anime is a masterpiece or it sucks hard. As long as they got a beautiful 2D girl there, I’m all for it! Yeah! Hey, I can do all this stuffs because I’m single! Not that I’m complaining about it… Okay, maybe a bit :’(… Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top Bishoujos of 2021

26 December, 2021

Oh well. Consistency is key. It is that time of year again where I rank the most beautiful 2D girls of anime, IMHO of course. Every year has been the issue of declining numbers. I was expecting the same but what do you know? It’s the same like last year! There are still 15 who got into my nomination list this year. Wow. Feels like an achievement. A sign that I have hit rock bottom and next year will increase? Well, let’s not count our chickens yet. After all, quality > quantity and I would like to give excuse that I have refined my taste in 2D beauty. Heh. You jealous suckers can just die with envy then. Anyway, here are the Top 10 Bishoujos of 2021 listed in alphabetical order:

1) Akane Uchimura (Iwa Kakeru! Sport Climbing Girls)

2) Angelina “Lina” Kudou (Mahouka Koukou No Rettousei – Raihousha-hen)

3) Charlotte Arisaka Anderson (Tantei Wa Mou Shindeiru)

4) Elise Jamil (Kami-tachi Ni Hirowareta Otoko)

5) Mirarose (Majo No Tabitabi)

6) Nagisa Minase (Kanojo Mo Kanojo)

7) Rika Hoshizaki (Kanojo Mo Kanojo)

8) Shino Kiryuu (Kanojo Mo Kanojo)

9) Shirley (Seven Knights Revolution: Eiyuu No Keishousha)

10) Toriko Nishina (Urasekai Picnic)

Oh wow. Imagine 3 cuties from the same anime making into the top 10 list. Heh. How dry this year must have been too. Anyway, congratulations to the top 10 and the remaining nominations in alphabetical order are: Airi Ishhiki (Mahouka Koukou No Yuutosei), Andriana Ellen Croixdeia Margarethe Emmalyn Narsham Felna AKA Nell (Dragon Ie Wo Kau),  Kyouko Izanami (Kamisama Ni Natta Hi), Liscia Elfrieden (Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha No Oukoko Saikenki) and Shia Foscurose (Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear). Of course, lifetime beauty award goes to without saying:

That’s a wrap for this year. At least I’m leaving it with much more positive feelings for the next compared to last year. Albeit it is just a bit but I guess that is still better than going to other way. Hopefully for the next year to come, assuming more animes will hit the air, this means more 2D beauties waiting to be discovered by me. Yeah. Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top Bishoujos of 2020

27 December, 2020

Tsk, tsk, tsk. It should be no surprise by now. Seeing how things went in 2020, nothing can shock me at this point. Or can it? If you have been following my blog, the last blog of the year is reserved for this special post. Yes, a shamelessly special blog post about the most beautiful 2D girls in animes I have watched for the year. Ever since 2015, the number has been steadily declining. It is no different this year. So you think it couldn’t get lower than last year? Well, it did. Guess who many made it to the nomination list? Yup. Only 15. Fifteen. Hey, got to be thankful that there is still a list for me to make. So without further ado and let’s get over this year already, here are the Top 10 Bishoujos of 2020 listed in alphabetical order:

1) Altena Elgard Ratis (Hataage! Kemono Michi)

2) Charlotte Roselei (Black Clover)

3) Chizuru Ichinose (Kanojo Okarishimasu)

4) Keine Kanzaki (Choujin Koukousei-tachi Wa Isekai Demo Yoyuu De Ikinuku You Desu)

5) Kotoko Iwanaga (Kyokou Suiri)

6) Mami Nanami (Kanojo Okarishimasu)

7) Mir Lotus (Geneshaft)

8) Sorane Matsuyama (Oshi Ga Budoukan Ittekuretara Shinu)

9) Sumireko “Pansy” Sanshokuin (Ore Wo Suki Nano Wa Omae Dake Ka Yo)

10) Veronica Thorne (Fairy Gone)

Congratulations to the top 10. As for the balance 5, they are (in alphabetical order of course): Ariadoa (Kono Yuusha Ga Ore Tueee Kuse Ni Shinchou Sugiru), Elise Katharina von Hohenheim (Hachi-nan Tte Sore Wa Nai Deshou), Lily Aquaria (Black Clover), Maria Campbell (Otome Game No Hametsu Flag Shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou Ni Tensei Shiteshimatta) and Ruka Sarashina (Kanojo Okarishimasu). What’s this that I should have just converted this to a top 15 bishoujo? Consistency is key, people! Just like how the number of hot 2D chicks keep declining year after year?! Oh well. Quality over quantity. Speaking of consistency. Sure didn’t forget about these 2 either (yeah, and they’re probably mad at 2020 too):

At this point of course there is a danger to even wonder if there will be a top 10 list. The chances are there but I am sure that when you hit the most bottom of the barrel, the only way left is to go up, up and up, right?! Unless I haven’t hit the bottom yet… That’s scary. Oh, blame it all on 2020. And somehow we’re all keeping that baseless positive faith that 2021 will be so much better. Lest 2020 was just a minor preview of 2021… Gotta stay positive now. Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top Bishoujos of 2019

29 December, 2019

Emergency! EMERGENCY ALERT LEVEL 5!!! I thought last year was the worst and couldn’t get any worse than that. But you know what? It did. I’m talking about the decline in the number of bishoujos for my year-end blog since 2015. What a steady decline (nosedive, to be more accurate) it has been ever since. So you think last year 31 was bad, huh? Wait till you see the total for this year. Uh huh. Drumroll please… this total year’s bishoujos amount to… 19 bishoujos! That’s right. Count them. OMG… OMFG! Wow. Really, I have to question if I am getting bored in this or my tastes have radically altered during the course of the year or the anime industry just couldn’t bother designing hot babes to my taste. Heh. Maybe it’s all of them. Oh well, the only ‘good’ thing with a lesser field of competitors is that I could spend less time in deciding who tops the final list. And here they are, the Top 10 Bishoujos of 2019 in alphabetical order:

1) Ann Takamaki (Persona 5 The Animation)

2) Esther Rosenthal (To Aru Kagaku No Accelerator)

3) Helmine (Uchi No Musume)

4) Lilietta (Otona No Bouguya-san)

5) Lily Someya (Joshikousei No Mudazukai)

6) Mamako Oosuki (Okaa-san Online)

7) Miyabi Takaoka (Midara Na Ao-chan Benkyou Ga Dekinai)

8) Myne (Tate No Yuusha No Nariagari)

9) Receptionist (Goblin Slayer)

10) Tomoe Koga (Seishun Buta Yarou Wa Bunny Girl Senpai Wo Yume Minai)

A big congratulations to the top 10 who made the cut. As for the balance 9 of them, well, here are their honourable mentions in alphabetical order: Charlotte de Valois (Ulysses- Jeanne d’Arc To Renkin No Kishi), Hephaestion (Lord El-Melloi II Case Fales: Zeppelin Grace Note), Hina Tachibana (Domestic Na Kanojo), Kitsuno Ikoma (Nobunaga-sensei No Osanazuma), Lecia (Tate No Yuusha No Nariagari), Nancy Schaal Bancroft (Katsute Kami Datta Kemono-tachi E), Niina Sugawara (Araburu Kisetsu No Otome-domo Yo),Reina Kuroda (Circlet Princess) and Tsubasa Arihara (Hachigatsu No Cinderella Nine).

Thank goodness I still have these duo in mind:

What are the chances next year not having enough to make a top 10 list???!!! Crossing my fingers that this unthinkable will not EVER happen. I’m hoping that I have already reached the bottom of the most bottom and when you are at that position, the only direction left is to go up, up and way up! Hah. Hopefully. Until then, I’m going to claim that this year’s lack of numbers is due to quality over quantity! Heh. You can’t put a quantitative measure on beauty! Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top Bishoujos of 2018

30 December, 2018

WHAT THE HELL?! What is happening?! What is going on?! Is this the end of the world?! Yeah well, there seems to be something wrong when I was making my usual year-end list for the most beautiful girls of anime I have watched for the year. When I was done, I noticed something ‘strange’. Jesus Christ, there are only 31 bishoujos who actually made the cut for the entire list!!! Read that right. Only thirty one!!! Am I seeing this correctly?! Did I count them all correctly?! WTF???!!! Yup, true enough. That’s the number, baby.

Apparently the number has been steadily declining since 2015 which hit its peak at 99 and this year has got to be the most drastic of them all from over 50 to just breaching the 30’s. Oh wow. Has time changed? Have I changed? Has my taste in beauty vary a lot for the year? Or did the actual number of anime beauties drastically dropped during the year? Or maybe they didn’t. I just watched the ‘wrong’ anime and those beauties remained ‘hidden’ in the ones I didn’t watch. Oh well, I guess I can now say quality over quantity? Also, it makes judging a lot easier with a smaller pool. Without further ado, here are the Top 10 Bishoujos of 2018 in alphabetical order:

1) Aoi Mashiro (Kyoto Teramachi Sanjou No Holmes)

2) Arisu Kamiigusa (Animegataris)

3) Chitose Itou (Iya Na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai)

4) Honami Ichinose (Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi No Kyoushitsu E)

5) Karen Tendou (Gamers)

6) Kotono Kashiwaba (Caligula)

7) Riona Matsumoto (Ousama Game)

8) Ryouko Naoe (Tenrou: Sirius The Jaeger)

9) Siluca Meletes (Grancrest Senki)

10) Violet Evergarden (Violet Evergarden)

Many congratulations to the beauties who made the cut for 2018. Rounding up the next tier are (in alphabetical order) Cardia Beckford (Code: Realize: Sousei No Himegimi), Eiko Morizono (Lord of Vermilion – Guren No Ou), Iroha Igarashi (3D Kanojo Real Girl), Mary Saotome (Kakegurui), Narumi Momose (Wotaku Ni Koi Wa Muzukashii), Olivia (Asobi Asobase), Otome Rokudou (Kyoukai No Rinne S3), Shiori Shinomiya (Sakura Quest), Yuzu Aihara (Citrus) and Zena Marientail (Death March Kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku).

Making up the rest of the list (also in alphabetical order) are Aletta (Isekai Shokudou), Jivunya Lorezzo (Saredo Tsumibito Wa Ryuu to Odoru), Kana (Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun), Keika Kiyotaki (Ryuuou No Oshigoto), Mei Aihara (Citrus), Mikan Kise (Action Heroine Cheer Fruits), Sofiel (Shingeki No Bahamut: Virgin Soul), Sunao Unyuu (Joshi Ochi! 2-kai Kara Onnanoko Ga Futte Kita), Tenna Kisaragi (Butlers: Chitose Momotose Monogatari), Tsugumi Kuze (Nil Admirari No Tenbin – Teito Genwaku Kitan) and Yuki Shimizu (Joshi Ochi! 2-kai Kara Onnanoko Ga Futte Kita).

And not forgetting always:

Well, looks like this year has been the ‘worst’ so far in terms of numbers. I guess once in a while there must be a drought year after a bountiful bumper crop year. Can’t really say if the number will go up or down next year but I shouldn’t be worrying about the quantitative expect. It’s the quality that I should be more concerned about! To rephrase a quote: Beauty begins the moment I decide it is beautiful! Can’t argue that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What strange eyes I must have then. Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top Bishoujos of 2017

31 December, 2017

You know the drill. It is that time of year again. Uh huh. Time actually flew so fast that I can’t believe 4 seasons worth of anime in 2017 just went by like that. Despite the vast number of animes I have watched in the past year, the number of bishoujo candidates seems to have been reduced slightly. Yeah, just mere 55 of them. I know it is a huge number but when you consider the past few years whereby the numbers were just increasing like inflation, does this mean my taste in beauty has been downgraded over the year? Or does it mean it has gone even more sophisticated that the beauty standard threshold has somewhat slightly increased? Or am I just bored? Nah! So let me now present to you the winners of the Top 10 Bishoujos of 2017. Listed as usual in alphabetical order:

1) Akane Minagawa (Kuzu No Honkai)

2) Alisha Diphda (Tales Of Zestiria The X)

9) Tokine Amino (Nazotokine)

10) Waka Kisaki (Konbini Kareshi)

A very big congratulations to the top 10 winners for 2017. Another round of applause for them. So were some of them too weird for your taste? Probably. It’s my taste anyway so, deal with it ;p. Of course these winners didn’t just automatically pop up. Maybe some of them were. But all had to go through a thorough screen vetting (yeah, it sounded so ‘professional’). Listed below in alphabetical order are the next top 10 of shortlisted candidates that were so close into making the cut but unfortunate they didn’t. At least they’re in the top 20:

Claudia Enfield (Gakusen Toshi Asterisk), Hanabi Yasuraoka (Kuzu No Honkai), Kokomi Teruhashi (Saiki Kusuo No Psi-nan), Koyuki Hinashi (Fuuka), Kyouko Touno (Seiren), Lapis (Isekai Wa Smartphone To Tomo Ni), Mary Kikakujo (Busou Shoujo Machiavellianism), Miharu Mashiki (Konbini Kareshi), Sara Iwami (Fuuka) and Shiho Kamakura (WWW.Working!!).

The list doesn’t end there. Those making up the top 30 are as follows in alphabetical order:

Diana Cavendish (Little Witch Academia), Katalina Alize (Granblue Fantasy The Animation), Kazuha Shibasaki (Girlish Number), Mari Ohara (Love Live! Sunshine!!), Mayuki Hiiragi (Hinako Note), Misaki Takasaki (Koi To Uso), Naho Takamiya (Orange), Rem (Re: Zero Kara Hajimaru Isekai Seikatsu), Tae Hanazono (BanG Dream) and Yumina Ernea Belfast (Isekai Wa Smartphone To Tomo Ni).

Last but not least the remaining 25 who didn’t make it past the first hurdle:

Akane Mizuno (Tsuki Ga Kirei), Aki Adagaki (Masamune-kun No Revenge), Arisa Ichigaya (BanG Dream), Chiaki Nanami (Danganronpa 3), Chisa Yukizome (Danganronpa 3), Elf Yamada AKA Emily (Eromanga-sensei), Haku Ryuu (Cheating Craft), Himari Takanashi (Demi-chan Wa Kataritai), Jinko Sasajima (Nana Maru San Batsu), Kouka (Gintama), Koume (Urara Meirochou), Maihime Tenkawa (Qualidea Code), Mizuki Usami (Kono Bijutsu Ni Wa Mondai Ga Aru), Moka Aoshima (One Room), Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear (Tales Of The Abyss), Neko Fujinomiya (Masamune-kun No Revenge), Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (ClassicaLoid), Rumia Tingel (Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi To Akashic Records), Sayaka Sumino (Aho Girl), Subaru Mitejima (Sousei No Onmyouji), Suzu (Kiitarou Shounen No Youkai Enikki), Tear (Tales Of The Abyss), Tina (Toriko), Yuiri Haba (Strike The Blood II) and Yukana Yame (Hajimeta No Gal).

Oh. We’re at this part already. Don’t think I’ve forgotten them!

And so it comes to a close this segment and another year. Hope you have fun like I did. The same sentiments and hope for the next year. Watch more animes, catch more stunning hot bishoujos. Rinse and repeat. Ah, life is sure simple. Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top Bishoujos of 2016

31 December, 2016

Before I know it, yet another year has ended! Oh gosh. Have I really gotten so old that time has flown by so quickly even by my own standards? By the time I realized, I had already done 10 years’ worth of top bishoujos posts and even a ranked one. Wow. Time has passed quickly indeed. If you have noticed that the number of bishoujo candidates every year has been steadily increasing. At this point it would have already gone over 100 (because the last one was just 1 short of being a century). Well, let me assure you that didn’t happen. It scaled back down to just 60 bishoujos. Did my taste in 2D beauty changed over the course of the year? Has my beauty perceptions refined? Nah. Without further ado, I present to you the 11th edition, the Top 10 Bishoujos of 2016! Umaru-chan), Yoriko Sudou (Lance N’ Masques) and Zera (Fairy Tail).

Hmm… Did I forget anybody? Of course not! How could I forget Mai Tokiha and Suigin Tou! Forever and ever as my number one and two respectively.

Once again, before I know it, this post has already come to an end. It is still good to know that after all these years, I still enjoy doing such posts albeit I have a feeling that many have long start labelling me as a pervert ‘old man’. Whatever. That’s why 3D can never beat 2D in this sense. Here is to more bishoujos in the coming year and hopefully I will never get tired of them. Bishoujos FTW! Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Surprise! Bet you didn’t think that there would a top bishoujo list in the middle of the year! It wouldn’t have been if not for this ‘special edition’. After celebrating 10 years of top bishoujos from my anime adventures half a year ago, I decided to do a ranking list of for the really pretty awesome anime ladies from the past decade. Yes, you read that right. All the while, the top bishoujos of the year have never been ranked and only been listed alphabetically.

Therefore with this special midyear top bishoujo special, I hereby rank the top 50 bishoujos of all time. Well, at least from 2006-2015 period. Time to dig deep into your memories to see if you remember them. The criterion to qualify for this list is that they must have appeared in the final top list of that year. So those who barely missed the cut or were just honourable mentions won’t be eligible. It will be listed in ascending order as well. Enough talking. Let’s get down to the list to see how awesome my tastes in bishoujo is ;p. Oh, how to read: Rank) Name (Anime) (Year). And yes, short commentary included.

50) Saber (Fate/Stay Night) (2007)

Holy smokes! Just when I just mentioned the rules, I already broke it right at the start?! For the clueless, Saber didn’t end up in the final list as my top bishoujo that year and went as far as just an honourable mention. I don’t even know why… I promise, this will be the only entry that broke the rules. It’s not a bad thing, right?

49) Nao Yoshikawa (Good Morning Call) (2007)

Haven’t heard of this unknown OVA? Well yeah. You should go watch it. I’m glad I did. A good bishoujo is one way of remembering an unknown series.

48) Rosette (Chrno Crusade) (2006)

I’m not into nuns with guns but at least she was one of the little motivations to watch the series. Isn’t that the same for most animes I watch?

47) Yuuno Houzuki (Kurenai) (2008)

Don’t let her cute looks fool you. She is a stronger fighter than the main character himself.

46) Lydia Carlton (Hakushaku To Yousei) (2009)

When you are a doctor for fairies, it is only natural that you have to be as beautiful as fairies, right?

45) Tenma Tsukamoto (School Rumble) (2006)

Ah, one of the few early crushes I had… Naïve, childish and gullible but that is what makes her so cute and lovable.

44) Nina Sakura (Ultra Maniac) (2006)

I never did get around to finish watching the series then and now. Even so, I suppose she was cute enough to make me remember her after all these years.

43) Rikantz Seaberry (Kenzen Robo Daimidaler) (2015)

Not many anime characters wear a top hat as their standard outfit. With nice braids and cheerful personality, we’ve got ourselves a winner here.

42) Chika Koizumi (Kyou No Go No Ni) (2006)

No, I’m not a lolicon! At least the original OVA version makes her look much better than the TV version that made her look like a cartoonish kid.

41) April (Coyote Ragtime Show) (2006)

Gothic. Badass. Enough said.

41) Mahiro Mutou (Busou Renkin) (2009)

One of the few plain looking girls on this list. Who says you can’t find beauty in such plainness?

39) Kakei Mihaya AKA Blood Leopard (Accel World) (2013)

MEIDO CHARACTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had she looked cuter, she would have gone up a few places.

38) Motoka Nogisaka (Yosuga No Sora) (2011)

MAID CHARACTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER PART 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Same reason too, had she been cuter, she might jumped a few more spots.

37) Chelsea Arcot (Shukufuku No Campanella) (2011)

You tend to get lost with your lousy sense of direction. So I tend to get lost in your beauty for the same cheesy reason.

36) Hime (Kaibutsu Oujo) (2007)

The (future) queen of all monsters. Can I be your slave?

35) Kouko Kaga (Golden Time) (2014)

Smart. Stylish. Obsessive. Oh well, 2 out of 3 isn’t bad.

34) Tsukino Azusagawa (Yakitate! Japan) (2007)

Who wouldn’t like a girl who is kind hearted and forgiving? Sometimes a little naïve but hey, 2 out of 3 isn’t bad, right?

33) Aria Shichijou (Seitokai Yakuindomo) (2011)

It makes me wonder if she was a little more perverted, would she have ranked higher? Or was it her perversion that every guy’s fantasy would love to have as a girlfriend made her this high in the list?

32) Orihime Inoue (Bleach) (2007)

You didn’t think she would end up on this list, did you? Well, if I wanted some boobs and cleavage I would have gone for Rangiku but then again, she never even made the cut.

31) Saki Rukino (Valvrave The Liberator) (2014)

Everybody wanted to see that rape scene Haruto did to her…

30) Sylvia Van Hossen (Princess Lover) (2010)

The only reason why she ended up here is because her uncanny similar looks to Saber. An indication that Saber might have been placed this high had she qualify in the first place.

29) Chihaya Ayase (Chihayafuru) (2013)

It’s like they’re trying to get me interested in playing karuta by putting a pretty face main character. Too bad I’m only interested in her. Not the game. She is also a testament why some pretty people should just stay quiet… And maybe that is why she didn’t get any higher.

28) Chiyo Sakura (Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun) (2015)

I think it has something to do with her polka dot ribbons… Hypnotizing…

27) Tamako Kitashirakawa (Tamako Market) (2013)

There is this strange resemblance from her, like a cross between K-ON!’s Mio and Yui…

26) Mao Mizusawa (Kimikiss Pure Rouge) (2008)

I’ve said it in my blog before and I’ll say it again. It’s her locks, baby! Her locks!

25) Megumi Katou (Saenai Heroine No Sodatekata) (2015)

What did I tell you about beauty in plainness? Megumi proves it by getting this high on the list for that but I guess that is also the reason why she couldn’t go any higher. Stuck at midpoint?

24) Chelsea (Akame Ga Kill) (2015)

NOOO!!! WHY YOU HAVE TO KILL HER OFF AND DECAPITATE HER HEAD????!!!!!!!!!!

23) Krista Lenz (Shingeki No Kyojin) (2014)

Move aside Mikasa. Just because you are a fan favourite doesn’t mean everybody has to like you, you Eren-possessive b*tch! This angel suits me much better!

22) Chiko Shinmoto (Super Seisyun Brothers) (2014)

Can you blame her for being obsessed with handsome guys when I myself am obsessed with pretty bishoujos?

21) Cecilia Alcott (Infinite Stratos) (2011)

I know Cecilia ranks at the bottom in terms of power and file and rank among the other girls in the harem. Don’t worry, you’ll always be tops in the beauty department in my books.

20) Sahoto Ashisu (Mangaka-san To Assistant-san To) (2015)

It takes lots of patience and tolerance if your boss is an author of a perverted manga. How can she stay so pretty amidst all that sexual harassment?

19) Honoka Sakurai (Suzuka) (2008)

Another plain looking girl. But with her long black hair that is worthy of a shampoo commercial, I think that sealed the deal.

18) Chitose Mihara (Kobato) (2010)

Even if you are a minor side extra character appearing limited times in a series, you still beat out looking your best than the rest.

17) Kurumi Isoshima (Mahou Sensou) (2014)

The series sucked. The ending sucked. At least your beauty didn’t. At least it eased the pain of watching through that horrendous dozen episodes and even more horrendous ‘ending’.

16) Takao (D-Frag!) (2014)

Why do I have a feeling that people will get the wrong idea that I chose her because of her boobs? Doesn’t every female character have them? She’s is just extra larger than the average…

15) Megumi Kannazuki (Muteki Kanban Musume) (2006)

They should have made her the star of the series instead of that ramen delivery bully girl.

14) Shirley Fenette (Code Geass) (2011)

The only reason why her character exists is so that she could die and provide a catalyst for our main character to carry on/power up/ turn the tide/move forward the plot. Literally, having a beauty to die for… Oops.

13) Alicia Florence (Aria The Natural/Aria The Origination) (2012)

With a number of blondes already making it on this list, it goes to show to show that blondes aren’t dumb and there just to look good. For Alicia, she is a good reason to dispel all those dumb blonde jokes and stereotype with her elegance, intelligence and independence.

12) Celia Cumani Aintree (Walkure Romanze) (2012)

Are they trying to get me interested in the art of jousting by putting a top head babe here?

11) Haruka Morishima (Amagami SS) (2012)

Best girl of Amagami SS! No question about it! And oh, Haruka girl, when a girl hints she is tired of playing the little sister to the guy she secretly has a crush on for a long time, it DOES NOT MEAN she wants to be the big sister!

10) Asuna Yuuki (Sword Art Online) (2013)

Yay! We have already breached into the top 10! Don’t hold your breath as we start getting closer to the top spot. Oh wait. How did she end up in my top 10? Barely beating out on Haruka on the looks department. Who cares, right? Despite being relegated to a damsel in distress in the latter half of the series, she still kicks ass.

9) Hare Menjou (Guilty Crown) (2012)

She reminds me of Code Geass’ Shirley’s fate. All of it. Only, she is cuter.

8) Hiromi Yuasa (True Tears) (2008)

Looking very much like a typical generic bishoujo girl, right? What’s so bad about that? If they only design female in characters in every other anime in that era this way.

6) Sawa Okita (Tari Tari) (2013)

I think it is the way she ties her hair… Yeah, that…

6) Touko Fukami (Glasslip) (2015)

Another reason why a disappointing series is watchable thanks to a pretty lady…

5) Ume “Kurumi” Kurumizawa (Kimi Ni Todoke) (2010)

Ume

Don’t worry, Kurumi. Even if everybody hates you and Kazehaya will never set his eyes on you (he’d rather have a horror movie-like girl than a bisque doll like you), your beauty will never be wasted in my eyes.

4) Mio Akiyama (K-ON!) (2009)

Was supposedly to be my ‘official’ third waifu during the hype and height of the cute moe girls era… But then…

3) Kosaki Onodera (Nisekoi) (2015)

Team Onodera FTW!!! If not for this seemingly ‘late’ entry that stole the bronze spot, a certain bassist would have claimed it… Yeah, literally pip her to this spot.

2) Suign Tou (Rozen Maiden) (Eternal)

Is it without a doubt that the first doll of the Rozen Maiden series still holds a special place in my heart after all these years? She appeared in every top bishoujo so it is only right silver place belongs to her. You should look at the specific blog posts I made a few years ago for her. Though, I might be a little guilty for not doing so in these few years.

1) Mai Tokiha (Mai-HiME) (Eternal)

You should have seen it coming from the start. If you have been following my blog for donkey years, that is. Yes people. Mai is still the queen of my heart. Gold place will always belong to my first ever waifu and perhaps this is partially the reason why I came out with this top 50 blog. Just to brag how beautiful and I love her all these time. I know, I know. I haven’t been putting up dedicated posts to her for the past few years either… Well, you know what they say. It is the thought that counts, right?

Eternal Beauty
That’s it folks. If it was already hard for me to just pick top 10 bishoujos every year, now I know how freaking tough it is to even rank them! Even I had this ‘internal rage’ of why a certain girl ranked higher or lower than the other. I thought of putting them on as equal ranks but if that is the case, there would be too many and it defeats the purpose of this blog post. Congratulations for those making the list and for those who didn’t, don’t despair. It is safe to say that all those top bishoujos who do not make the final top 50 cut are automatically honourable mentions. I’m too lazy to list them down here and if you really want to know who they are, you should go do some retrospect on my past blogs. So it goes to show that perhaps my taste in bishoujo has evolved but nevertheless still remains generally the same. I noticed that most of the recent bishoujos would tend to end up in the higher tier compared to older ones so it could also be because they are in my recent memory. Therefore as of this time and date, the rankings of these beauties are definite. It might change in the future or not but I’m definitely not going to do another major one just to show some shuffling changes. With this party over, I guess now we can move on and look forward to a new group of bishoujos waiting to be named at the year end. Can’t really wait for it. Waku, waku desu! All hail Anime Bishoujos! Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top Bishoujos of 2015

27 December, 2015

OMG! It’s already here! Before I knew it, time has already flown by and it felt just like yesterday. Well, sad to say I can’t remember many anime scenes and plots in general even in the past year. But what I do remember are the lovely bishoujos that some served as the main motivation as to why I watched the anime! And yes, it has already been 10 long years ever since this blog topic has been started. OMG. OMFG! Has it been that long already? My, time sure does fly pretty fast. It’s time for a celebration.

Another reason for an OMFG is the fact that this year there are 99 bishoujos that made the list!!! WTF???!!!! Ninety nine of them?! Why don’t I just add another one to make it to the nice round number of 100? And there I thought this year wasn’t going to be much but when I started recollecting and noting them down, before I know it, this substantial number came up! The biggest record of nominees ever in the history of this post! I think this is going to leave somewhat an infamous record on its own. I know that this year’s post is going to be special. But does this mean I have unconsciously considered almost every anime to have a pretty girl? Coincidence? Fate?

Whatever it is, to commemorate the special 10 year anniversary of this Top Bishoujos post, I have separated them into several ‘qualifying rounds’ and tiers. Despite this list still being the top 10, the top 30 will have their face featured and split into groups of ten each as we countdown the hottest and prettiest girls in anime that I have watched this year. Yes, this year’s special, I’ll be counting down in reverse although in each group, the names will still be listed alphabetically. It is still a pain to individually rank them properly. Yeah… Without much ado, here is the list for the Top 10 Bishoujos for 2015:-

Starting off the list of this ‘festival’ are the 20 names of those who ‘unfortunately’ didn’t get past the first round: Airi Hasekura (Ushinawareta Mirai Wo Motomete), Cyan Hijirikawa (Show By Rock), Dreamcast (Hi-sCoool! SeHa Girls), Guila (Nanatsu No Taizai), Hiyori Iki (Noragami), Kanata Amatsu (Girl Friend (Kari)), Karin Aoi (DNA2), Latifa Fleuranza (Amagi Brilliant Park), Limalisha (Madan No Ou To Vanadis), Mirei Kudou (Inou Battle Wa Nichijou-kei No Naka De), Moyako Konoe (Ane Log), Naruko Aoba (Mahou Shoujo Taisen), Nike Lemercier (Soredemo Sekai Wa Utsukushii), Rokka (adult version) (Mamotte! Are you done what that? Here is another batch coming for you. These are those (20 of them too) who went as far as the second round: Asseylum Vers Allusia (Aldnoah.Zero), Erika Shinohara (Ookami Shoujo To Kuro Ouji), Fumi Kujou (Jinsei), Fumio Murakami (Girl Friend (Kari)), Isuzu Sento (Amagi Brilliant Park), Kisara Tendou (Black Bullet), Kotomi Takanashi (DNA2), Maura Chester (Rokka No Yuusha), Mayu FKA Tomone (Noragami), Mina (Soredemo Sekai Wa Utsukushii), Nana Iida (Rail Wars), Nanami Knight Bladefield (Kanojo Ga Flag Wo Oraretara), Natsumi Suzuhara (Tenshi Ni Narumon), Neko Kuroha (Gokukoku No Brynhildr), Sakuya Shimazu (Isuca), Salia (Cross Ange), Sayumi Ureshino (Daitoshokan No Hitsujikai), Serendine (Magi: Sinbad No Bouken OVA), Viv (Junketsu No Maria) and Yuri (Dirty Pair Flash).

Still alive? Yes? Okay. Believe it people. There is a third round too. Oh God… Another 20 names. What is with this year’s nice round number for everything? Here they are: Aiz Wallenstein (Dungeon Ni Deai Wo Motomeru No Wa Machigatteiru Darou Ka), Chaika Trabant (Hitsugi No Chaika), Haruka Misono (The Rolling Girls), Hatoko Kushikawa (Inou Battle Wa Nichijou-kei No Naka De), Itsuki (Houkago No Pleiades), Kaori Shirakawa (Jinsei), Kiriha Kurano (Rokujouma No Shinryakusha), Kotori Takatori (Gokukoku No Brynhildr), Kurumi Nonaka (Shinmai Maou No Testament), Leema (Suisei No Gargantia: Meguru Kouro, Haruka), Lisa Highwalker (Juuou Mujin No Fafnir), Lolotte (Junketsu No Maria), Mamechiyo (The Rolling Girls), Miyuki Shiba (Mahouka Koukou No Rettousei), Rossweisse (High School DxD BorN), Sakuya Tsukumo (Absolute Duo), Sayaka Mibu (Mahouka Koukou No Rettousei), Selina Sherlock (Trinity Seven), Urara Shiraishi (Yamada-kun And The Seven Witches) and Yuzuki Mizusaka (Sora No Method).

And now as we enter the top 30, please congratulate the third tier group of top 21-30:

Kyouko Sonan (Kenzen Robo Daimidaler)

Mikatan Narugino (Punch Line)

Reina Kousaka (Hibike! Euphonium)

Yanagi Takayama (Glasslip)

The moment that you have all been waiting for. The first tier and definitely the top 10 bishoujos of anime for the year 2015! And remember, still ranked by alphabetical order. A great round of applause and praises for the following:

1) Chelsea (Akame Ga Kill)

2) Chiyo Sakura (Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun)

3) Kosaki Onodera (Nisekoi)

4) Kuniko Shigyou (The Rolling Girls)

5) Megumi Katou (Saenai Heroine No Sodatekata)

6) Nene Odagiri (Yamada-kun And The Seven Witches)

7) Rikantz Seaberry (Kenzen Robo Daimidaler)

8) Rinslet Laurenfrost (Seirei Tsukai No Blade Dance)

9) Sahoto Ashisu (Mangaka-san To Assistant-san To)

10) Touko Fukami (Glasslip)

A big congratulations to those who made the cut on this special anniversary post. Well done!

Strangely, my maid fetish has led me to notice a handful of maid characters, so I have taken them out and put them on a separate list here. Maybe it is because of their maid dress that they end up here… Well… These 8 pretty maid characters are: Angela Johnson (Seiken Tsukai No World Break), Carol Nastassha (Seirei Tsukai No Blade Dance), Eleanor Baker (Madlax), Kurumi Narumi (Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku), Momoka Oginome (Cross Ange), Sachi Komine (Grisaia No Kajitsu), Syr Flover (Dungeon Ni Deai Wo Motomeru No Wa Machigatteiru Darou Ka) and Titta (Madan No Ou To Vanadis). Note: Hiro from Himegoto could have been considered had not this character being actually a guy cross-dressed as a maid!

But the one that bests them all is Coppelia (Log Horizon S2). Here is a face shot to commemorate that.

As always. I can’t have this post without paying tribute to my favourite duo of all time. Once again, the top 2 that have always dominated my hearts ever since, Mai Tokiha and Suigin Tou! WOOOOOOOO!!!!! YAAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

Oh, shucks. It’s already over? Time to head into the New Year then. Do I have to wait another 10 years to do something like this again? Whatever the future holds, this shows that every year and every season, there will always be lots of bishoujos in anime for me to ogle at. Oops! See you same time, same place, next year. Till then, Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top Bishoujos of 2014

28 December, 2014

Here we go… Again. Another year later. Yes, people. Regulars would have come to terms and accept the fact by now that it is time for another last blog of the year. This could only mean one thing. The Top Bishoujos of 2014! Just like in previous years, the more I look back on them, the more kiasu I think I have become. Look at how many animes I have watched over the years and this year itself is no exception. With a lack of variety blogs (save for a handful of versus blogs but that don’t really matter), most of them are your typical anime series blogs that are so ubiquitous throughout the year.

That is why there is a record total of 72 bishoujos entering the list! HOLY FREAKING COWS!!! Seventy two 2D girls?! It is like almost every series there is a ‘leng lui’ in it waiting for me to discover or has my taste in what constitute a bishoujo become so generalized that they could easily enter the year-end list? And I thought this year I would slow down on the list but man, I was wrong. So without further ado, listed below are the top 10 bishoujos of 2014. Listed alphabetically of course.

1) Celestia Ludenberg (Danganronpa The Animation)

2) Celia Cumani Aintree (Walkure Romanze)

3) Chiko Shinmoto (Super Seisyun Brothers)

4) Kouko Kaga (Golden Time)

5) Krista Lenz (Shingeki No Kyojin)

6) Kurumi Isoshima (Mahou Sensou)

7) Saki Rukino (Valvrave The Liberator)

8) Sayaka Kirasaka (Strike The Blood)

9) Sayaka Watanabe (Bokura Wa Minna Kawasou)

10) Takao (D-Frag!)

A very big congratulations to the top 10. And as usual, it was a tough choice to pick and choose (well, almost – because some were a given). If not for the rest, they would not have been up there. So here is the list of the other 6 finalists who didn’t end up in the top 10 but gave them a run for their money. They include (in alphabetical order) Grenda-chan (Robot Girls Z), Kazuki Ferrari (Gallilei Donna), Mitsuki Nase (Kyoukai No Kanata), Petra Rall (Shingeki No Kyojin), Setsuna Ogiso (White Album 2) and Suzuka Dairenji (Tokyo Ravens).

That isn’t all to the list. Because of the large number of candidates, the selections were split into 2 rounds before the final list was drawn up. These are the 16 candidates that made it to round 2 but unfortunately didn’t go any further. In alphabetical order: Akemi Sumizome (Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha), Botan Oohagi (Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku), Chisaki Hiradaira (Nagi No Asukara), Claire Cruz (Tooaru Hikuushi E No Koiuta), Haruka Niimi (Photokano), Kaguya Yamai (Date A Live II), Kou Shuurei (Saiunkoku Monogatari), Marion Quin (Atelier Escha & Logy), Maxi Akizuki (Inu To Hasami Wa Tsukaiyou), Natsuo Maki (Love Lab), Noel Vermillion (BlazBlue – Alter Memory), Ren Kougyoku (Magi), Saya Miyoshi (Servant x Service), Tensai Ikkyuu (Ryuugajou Nanana No Maizoukin), Uka No Mitama No Kami (Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha) and Yuzuru Yamai (Date A Live II).

If you are still alive after reading that list and can go on, then let us not forget the rest of the 40 first round candidates. They are Ai Shindou (Kyoukai No Kanata), Aki Hiiragi (Inugami-san To Nekoyama-san), Ayame Reikadou (Noukome), Cosette Shelley (Seikoku No Dragonar), Elena Miyazawa (Sekai De Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai), Elle Karen (Blade & Soul), Elza Crucial (Yuushibu), Etia Visconti (Gen’ei Wo Kakeru Taiyou), Faye Valentine (Cowboy Bebop), Hana Isuzu (Girls Und Panzer), Hanabi Ayase (12-sai ~Kiss, Kirai, Suki~), Haruka Takayama (Sakura Trick), Hazuki Ferrari (Galilei Donna), Heroine (Amnesia), Honey (Hamatora), Io Nitta (Devil Survivor 2), Jeanne d’Arc (Makai Ouji: Devils And Realist), Karen Kujou (Kiniro Mosaic), Kazusa Touma (White Album 2), Kiyoko (Strange+), Komari Koshigaya (Non Non Biyori), Kyouko Hori (Hori-san To Miyamura-kun), Lenessia Eruarte Cowen (Log Horizon), Linca (Atelier Escha & Logy), Miki Shirasagi (Sekai Seifuku: Bouryaku No Zvezda), Miranda (Ixion Saga DT), Miyu Okamoto (Wake Up, Girls!), Moa Torii (Imocho), Myusel Foalan (Outbreak Company), Nijika Kohinata (Niji-iro Prism Girl), Rin Haruna (Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-Bu), Rusty Nail (Strange+), Sakurako Sanjou (Hana Yori Dango), Sayaka Maizono (Danganronpa The Animation), Scar (Kamisama No Inai Nichiyoubi), Sharo Kirima (Gochuumon Wa Usagi Desu Ka), Silvia Lautreamont (Seikoku No Dragonar), Sumireko Hanabusa (Akuma No Riddle), Suzuno Kamazuki (Hataraku Maou-sama) and Yuu Naruse (Watamote). Also to note, the tally could have gone up by two if not for Kenjirou Hato (Genshiken Nidaime) and Mariandel (Ixion Saga DT) being a cross-dresser! The latter although did become a woman in the final moments but for every other part, he is still guy in a girl’s dress so definitely still considered a trap. Oh yeah. Traps. Fear how pretty they are.

Of course, the unforgettable duo of Suigin Tou from Rozen Maiden and Mai Tokiha from Mai-HiME will always take a permanent and special spot in my heart. (Note: Suigin Tou gets to ‘go first’ this year because of Rozen Maiden Zuruckspulen. Although released in 2013, I saw it only this year).

And the cycle will repeat itself for the next year as expected. And it will be a special year next year. Why? Because it will be already a decade ever since this segment started! Oh my, how time flies. Can’t wait for it. Can it? So hope to see you next year when it happens. If I am still around (hopefully). But in the meantime, Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top Bishoujos of 2013

29 December, 2013

Another year has come and gone in the blink of an eye. Once more, the final blog of the year has always been dedicated to announce the prettiest 2D anime girls that I have ‘come into contact’ for the year. Once again I present to you, The Top Bishoujos of 2013! Looks like this year I have been watching too much anime. So much anime that I just realized there isn’t enough other blog variety for this year and it is mainly just anime series blogs. That kiasu am I, huh?

Just like last year too, due to the large amount of animes that I have been watching, the list of anime ladies that can be classified as pretty has also swelled. Don’t worry. It won’t go over 100. To be exact, there are a total of 62 candidates that made the list for this year. Yeah. Almost like every anime has a pretty girl (don’t they?) and some animes have more than one (even triple!). Let’s not waste any time and proceed with the final announcement of the top 10 bishoujos of 2013 who made the final cut. They are, in alphabetical order of course:

School Idol Project), Yui Ichii (Yuyushiki), Yui Kiriyama (Kokoro Connect), Yuiko Kurugaya (Little Busters), Yuki Kashiwagi (AKB0048) and Yuri Kotobuki (Nozoki Ana).

Finally, the everlasting spot and permanent seats for these dynamic duo: Mai Tokiha from Mai-HiME and Suigin Tou from Rozen Maiden!

It will soon be another year and that means another massive amount of animes to watch and enjoy. And it feels like they popped in a bishoujo or two for me while watching it as ‘reward’. So you can expect me to go on strong (fuelled by ainme power, what else?) and watch out for this space again next year (if you want to). Until the next time we meet again, Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top Bishoujos of 2012

30 December, 2012

You know you want it. You know it is here. The final blog of the year that has been the same throughout the years. Without needing much introduction, this is the blog that dedicates and ‘honours’ the prettiest ladies of the 2D anime world for the year. Yes! The Top Bishoujos of 2012! Another round of great applause for surviving another hectic year of anime. Thank goodness the world didn’t end ;).

Due to the sheer amount of animes that I have watched during the year, the list of candidates for this year have amazingly grown to 60 over names! Wow! It is like almost every anime there is one pretty bishoujo for me. Or is it have I become such a pervert? Or am I truly into the beauty of such 2D characters that even Miss Universe don’t even stand a chance? Anyway without further ado, here are the top 10 bishoujos that made it into the list. Of course, in alphabetical order:

1) Alicia Florence (Aria The Natural/Aria The Origination)

2) Aoi Kuneida (Beelzebub)

3) Hare Menjou (Guilty Crown)

 4) Haruka Morishima (Amagami SS)

5) Hebi Harada (Yondemasu Yo, Azazel-san)

6) Kou Aoki (Bakuman)

7) Minatsuki Takami (Deadman Wonderland)

8) Rea Sanka (human form) (Sankarea)

9) Sena Kashiwazaki (Boku Wa Tomodachi Ga Sukunai)

10) Yuina Wakura (Hanasaku Iroha)

A big congratulations to the top 10 that made the final listing. But it wasn’t easy to judge them as there were other candidates that were also in the fray for the second round before the final ten had been picked. They include (in alphabetical order too) Asia Argento (High School DxD), Chino Motomura (Inu x Boku SS), Hibino Shiba (Kamisama Dolls), Himawari Furutani (YuruYuri), Hoboro (Tamyura ~Hitotose~), Isana Tachibana (Yumekui Merry), Kusunoki Kasuga (The World God Only Knows II), Miho Azuki (Bakuman), Ohana Matsumae (Hanasaku Iroha), Saki Mizukoshi (Natsuiro Kiseki), Tsukasa Ayatsuji (Amagami SS) and Yuuko Kanoe (Tasogare Otome x Amnesia).

And now for the rest of the first round candidates. Don’t hold your breath. This is going to take a while. In alphabetical order: Angelica (Beelzebub), Charunee AKA Meo (Kamisama Memo-chou), Clarakran Pilius (Shining Tears X Wind), Elwyn (Shining Tears X Wind), Erio Touwa (Denpa Onna To Seishun Otoko), Fumika Warasono (Koe De Oshigoto), Hana (Morita-san Wa Mukuchi), Hildegarde (Beelzebub), Hiyoko Tamaizumi (Oretachi Ni Wa Tsubasa Wa Nai), Inori Yuzuriha (Guilty Crown), Irene “Rally” Vincent (Gunsmith Cats), Kanade Suzutsuki (Mayo Chiki), Karina Lyle AKA Blue Rose (Tiger & Bunny), Keiko Takamura (Uta-Kata), Kodama Himegami (Maken-Ki), Kyouko Toshino (YuruYuri), Margarite AKA Maruga (Dragon Crisis), Masami Oshige (Full Moon Wo Sagashite), Mercelida (Astarotte No Omocha), Mio Kitahara (Ano Natsu De Matteru), Miu Amaha (Mashiro-iro Symphony), Miyuki (Miyuki-chan In Wonderland), Natsumi Katou (Bakuman S2), Nazuna Takanashi (Working!), Rebecca “Becky” Anderson (Dog Days), Rella Shirayuki (Cinderella Boy), Riko Mine (Hidan No Aria), Risa Hanakago (Nagareboshi Lens), Sae Nakata (Amagami SS), Saki (Steel Angel Kurumi), Saki Sakimori (Acchi Kocchi), Satellizer el Bridget (Freezing), Sayaka Nakasugi (Tetsuwan Birdy Decode), Sylia Stingray (Bubblegum Crisis 2040), Tomiko Senba (Yondemasu Yo, Azazel-san OVA), Touka Kureha (Shining Tears X Wind), Ume Shiraume (Ben-To), Utae Sonokoe (R-15), Yoshimoto Imagawa (Sengoku Otome Momoiro Paradox), Yukari Nitani (Usagi Drop), Yukie Mayuzumi (Maji De Watashi Ni Koi Shinasai), Yuri Tokikago (Mawaru Penguindrum), Yuuko Nishi (A Channel), Yuzu Komiya (Nekogami Yaoyorozu) and Yuzuki Eba (Kimi No Iru Machi). Phew! Didn’t fall asleep, did you?

Just like last year, you may notice that a couple of always-permanent ladies are missing from the top 10. Since they’re always going to be eternally on my top list, it won’t be ‘fair’ for them to occupy the 2 spots every year. So a little space hereafter is dedicated as always to the duo. All hail Mai Tokiha of Mai-HiME and Suigin Tou from Rozen Maiden! A picture of them as ‘offering’:

Looks like there are more and more animes to watch for me the coming year. And the rate that I’m going, there is a big chance that more and more bishoujos will end up on my candidate list for next year’s you-know-what. Maybe the top 10 will even be expanded for all you know. For now, let us (me, in particular) admire and be thankful to all the bishoujos for making my dull life such a ‘colourful’ event. Hah! You’re calling me a pervert already, aren’t you? I don’t care what you have to say because… Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top Bishoujos of 2011

31 December, 2011

Another eventful year of anime has passed. And as in the tradition ever since this blog started, the final blog of the year is dedicated to posting the most beautiful anime ladies that have appeared before my eyes in the year 2011. That’s right. It’s time for another Top Bishoujos of 2011 which is making its 6th consecutive year. Without further delay, here are the top 10 that made it into the final list. According to alphabetical order, that is:

1) Aria Shichijou (Seitokai Yakuindomo)

2) Aoi Futaba (Asobi Ni Iku Yo)

3) Aya Hoshino (Super GALS)

4) Cecilia Alcott (Infinite Stratos)

5) Chelsea Arcot (Shukufuku No Campanella)

6) Ferris Eris (Legend of the Legendary Heroes)

7) Kirino Kousaka (Ore No Imouto Konna Ni Kawaii Wake Ga Nai)

8) Mami Tomoe (Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica)

9) Motoka Nogisaka (Yosuga No Sora)

10) Shirley Fenette (Code Geass)

So there you have it the top 10 list from me. Feel free to debate, discuss and dispute any of the ladies above. Of course my final opinion still stands ;p. Congratulations to the girls who have made the cut. As always, judging wasn’t easy so it is right to also name those potential candidates as well. Due to the sheer amount of animes I have watched during the year, the list of candidates is quite a large pool and this time round they were split into 2 rounds before the final decision was made. If this list had more standings in it, I’m sure they would have also been included. The second round finalists (not in any particular order) include: Otohime Ryuugu (Ookami-san To Shichinin No Nakamatachi), Chane Laforet (Baccano), Ayase Aragaki (Ore No Imouto Konna Ni Kawaii Wake Ga Nai), Suzu Sakuma (Marmalade Boy), Euphemia li Britannia (Code Geass) and Kozue Kuranaga (Yosuga No Sora).

The rest of the first round candidates (not in any particular order) comprise of Fujiko Etou (Ichiban Ushiro No Daimaou), Misuzu Kusakabe (11eyes), Maya Jingu (Burn Up Scramble), Yuzuru Hagino (Honey x Honey Drops), Yae Oda (Nabari No Ou), Ushio Kazama (Sasameki Koto), Hiyori Nishiyama (Hiyokoi), Chitose Karasuma (Galaxy Angel X), Faafa Duumdee (Psychic Academy), Kiriha Kuze (Fortune Arterial: Akai Yakusoku), Mari Tennouji (Yumeiro Patissiere), Susukihotaru (Otome Youkai Zakuro), Satsuki (Very Private Lesson), Miki Koishikawa (Marmalade Boy), Meiko Akizuki (Marmalade Boy), Nanako Yamamoto (Hanamaru Youchien), Rei Miyamoto (Highschool of the Dead), Stocking (Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt), Inori Misasagi (Memories Off 3.5), Iroha Tsuchiura (Onii-chan No Koto Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara Ne), Kanae Naruko (Mayoi Neko Overrun), Yuzuki Kiryuu (KissxSis) and Shouko Inari (Kuragehime). In general terms, the minor and side characters of Kaichou Wa Maid-sama and Fairy Tail are also considered.

If you have been following this section for years, you may notice that a couple of ‘permanent’ bishoujos are missing from the list. No, it’s not that they are no longer beautiful in my eyes anymore. In fact, they have always been and have gotten even more beautiful if I should say! They’re excluded to ‘make room’ for other candidates and thus a special dedication and allocation is set for the duo. All hail Mai Tokiha from Mai-HiME and Suigin Tou of Rozen Maiden forever!!! A picture for devotion as usual:

That’s about it for this year’s Top Bishoujos. See you again same time (almost) next year for this annual segment. I must have been very kiasu this year to have watched lots of animes and to have a large pool of bishoujos to choose from. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, right? And from the looks of it, I’ll be even more kiasu with the new year coming. Looks like I’m going to spend more time watching more animes and in the process find more bishoujos to drool, oops, I mean admire over. Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top 11 Bishoujos of 2010

29 December, 2010

Hehehe… I’m sure you know what this means after reading the title of this blog, eh? A few more days before this year is done and the last blog of the year has always been dedicated to listing down the top bishoujos of anime that I have watched during the year. It may not be from the current year since I prefer to watch many seasonal animes after they have finished their run first. Because of that, I am ‘delayed’ in watching those current shows for the year. But no matter because there’ll always be next year.
If you noticed the title too, that there is an odd number. Instead of ten top bishoujos, now it has been increased by one to eleven. The reason being is that to commemorate the fifth running year of this special blog session, I decided to add an extra slot as part of the celebrations. What celebrations?! Well, in my own way of course. I have watched more animes this year so the list of candidates seems to have increased by a little more. And besides, there are two ‘1’s in eleven, right? So it’s like double winners, get it? Hahaha… Oh, never mind. So let me get the ball rolling by announcing the Top 11 Bishoujos of 2010. In alphabetical order as usual. Drum roll please…

1) Chitose Mihara (Kobato)

Chitose Mihara

2) Chizuru Mochizuki (Nyan Koi)

Chizuru Mochizuki

3) Hime Makita (Sora No Manimani)

Hime Makita

5) Mai Tokiha (Mai-HiME)

7) Ooshima (Umi Monogatari ~Anata Ga Ite Kureta Koto~)

9) Sylvie van Hossen (Princess Lover)

10) Ume “Kurumi” Kurumizawa (Kimi Ni Todoke)

Ume Kurumizawa

11) Yamada (B Gata H Kei)

Yamada

So there you have it, the final list that stands on the final blog of the year. Congratulations to those who have made the cut. Bravo! As always, as not to be left out, the other candidates considered include (in no particular order) Octhavia (Tears To Tiara), Miyabi “Kyouju” Oomichi (GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class), Chizuru Akaba (Seitokai No Ichizon), Shizuku Sango (Kampfer), Nora and Chloe (Spice And Wolf), Tominaga (Doki Doki School Hours), Yuki Morikawa (White Album), Karen and Sakuya (Sister Princess), Ruiko Saten (To Aru Kagaku No Railgun), Sayaka Okiura (Kobato), Hitagi Senjougahara (Bakemonogatari), Aria (Seiken No Blacksmith), Kuchinashi (Needless), Q-feuille (Kiddy Girl -and), Lia Dragonell (World Destruction), Anri Sonohara (Durarara!!), Kuesu Jinguuji (Omamori Himari), Kyouka Kanejou (B Gata H Kei), Yuki Souya and Akiko Ogasawara (Taishou Yakyuu Musume), Elizabeth Middleford (Kuroshitsuji), Yuri Fuyude (Wandaba Style) and finally although I didn’t get to see the movie at all, but I guess the poster and screenshots of her was enough to captivate me: Natsuki Shinohara (Summer Wars).
Some may call it a drag, but I think I call it loyalty because there are a couple of bishoujos that I still love even after all these years. Easily spotted throughout my previous blogs. Yeah! Mai Tokiha and Suigin Tou! Another round of applause for your girls for staying in my heart all the time. And thus another big picture to honour them:
Mai Tokiha
Suigin Tou
So there you have it, the top 11 bishoujos for the year 2010. So my hopes for the New Year will be to watch more animes (what else but of course) and in return of not just being captivated by the storyline or artwork, but those pretty 2D girls. Yeah, perhaps more of them. Lots and lots more of them! Wohoo! Sheesh. Hope I don’t sound like a womaniser. Three cheers and Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top 10 Bishoujos of 2009

26 December, 2009

Hooray! It’s that moment we’ve all been waiting for (yeah, right). It’s that time that I have been waiting patiently all year long (beats me why I had to place this section as so). It’s that special final blog of the year (though it’s only Boxing Day) in which yours truly (read: loser otaku) have decided the most beautiful, gorgeous, pretty, attractive, cute, sweet, appealing, stunning, lovely, charming, adorable, moe, kawaii, daikirei girls of anime. It may not seem any special to some but I guess it has been my tradition to review the animes I have watched during the year and recall all those pleasant memories of the pretty 2D girls I have seen throughout the year (I really need to get a better hobby…).

Though I have watched much more animes as compared to its previous years, that does not mean that the number of bishoujos (beautiful girls) would also proportionately increase. That is why the perfect number 10 is still the maximum limit of those whom I shall consider kawaii. Not to say the rest aren’t so, but after all that headache in judging, evaluating and assessing the candidates, these are the best of the best, the creme of the crop for 2009.

As usual, those who made the cut are listed below in alphabetical order. However for this year, I decided to scrap the short narratives on why I decided to put them down in my list. Simply because a picture is worth a thousand words and since beauty is in the eye of beholder, no amount of words could ever describe their everlasting beauty (in 2D sense, that is). No, it’s not that I’m lazy to put it down in words, mind you. So if you are still curious to find out which anime girls managed to steal my heart during the year, don’t hold your breath any longer for here is the Top 10 Bishoujos of 2009:-

1) Ayame Ikaruga (Asu No Yoichi)
Ayame Ikaruga

2) Eineus The Vergest (Macademi Wasshoi)
Eineus the Vergest

3) Kei Enomoto (Hatsukoi Limited)
Kei Enomoto

4) Lydia Carlton (Hakushaku To Yousei)
Lydia Carlton

5) Mahiro Mutou (Busou Renkin)
Mahiro Mutou

6) Mai Tokiha (Mai-HiME)

Mai Tokiha

7) Minato Nagase (Akane-iro Ni Somaru Saka)
Minato Nagase

8) Mio Akiyama (K-ON!)
Mio Akiyama

9) Suigin Tou (Rozen Maiden)

Suigin Tou

 10) Yuzuki Mikage (Jigoku Shoujo: Mitsuganae)
Yuzuki Mikage

And there you have it. Another round of applause for my top 10 ladies. A million congratulations to them who have made the list. As usual, it won’t appropriate if I don’t list out the other candidates as well. They provide a tough choice and a ‘good fight’ before the final list is being made. They include (in no particular order) Mifuyu Kisaragi (Tayutama -Kiss On My Deity-), Kuon Ginga (Gokujou Seitokai), Ami Kawashima (Toradora), Yukari Sahashi (Seikirei), Yui Hinagata (Asu No Yoichi), Miu Kujou (Linebarrels Of Iron), Mary Chupacabra Whitebear (Penguin Musume Heart), Naoko Asakura (Aozora Ni Yakusoku Wo), Akie Takasugi (Jigoku Shoujo: Mitsuganae), Kanae Kotonami and Ruriko Matsunai (Skip Beat), Rika Noyamano (Air Gear), Misaki Yamamoto (Hatsukoi Limited), Hiro (Hidamari Sketch), Sora Suzuki (Mahou Tsukai Ni Taisetsu Na Koto: Natsu No Sora), Kasumi Kisaragi (Kujibiki Unbalance), Zange (Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens), Sayako Arashiyama AKA Arashi (Natsu No Arashi), Sachi Momoi (Maria+Holic), Maiko Kaji (Hataraki Man), Tobiume (Bleach), Hinagiku Katsura (Hayate No Gotoku 2nd Season – Actually her looks remained the same in the sequel. I just don’t know why I didn’t find her kawaii then during the 1st season. Sighs… Ah well, looks like she got a second chance), all the pretty side character females in Gintama as well as all the beautiful minor character ladies in Skip Beat.

Unless you have not been following my blog for this segment (which I doubt many people would), then you would’ve known that all these years there has been two bishoujos which seems to eternally occupy the top 10 list. That’s right. Forever established as the number 1 bishoujo in my heart of all time, she is Mai-HiME’s Mai Tokiha!!! Wohoo!!! And coming in second place is of course Rozen Maiden’s Suigin Tou! So here are pictures of them below to celebrate their constant ‘victory’!

Mai Tokiha 58

Suigin Tou 16

Until next year comes around again, I guess it is worth the wait to see what the exciting new year will bring. How many more bishoujos will make their appearance for me to discover? Hmm… Do I sound a little like a pervert? Well, at least I know I’m a hetero… That’s beside the point. I feel such bishoujos are partly a ‘motivation’ for me to watch an anime series even if the storyline sucks. Always a sucker for a (2D) pretty face. But even if a series has a bevy of babes, that still doesn’t mean I should hop on and watch them (usually this reasoning fails most of the time). Until then, LONG LIVE BISHOUJOS OF ANIME!!!

Top 10 Bishoujos

27 December, 2008

By now, those who have been faithful to my blog all these years (yeah, right. Like there are any of you out there but me who’d read my long-winded blogs) should know that this is the time of year where I list down the top 10 bishoujos of anime for the year 2008 as my last blog entry for the year. These pretty ladies don’t necessarily appear in animes which are released for the particular year, but for the animes that I have watched during that year. So they could be from new animes or series from previous years.

Now if you noticed the trend when I first started this topic, that I have cut down from 20 finalists to 10 the following year, and then half it to 5 this year, then you’re wrong because I’ve decided to maintain the list at 10. It would be too few to make this blog to have any point and too much if it exceeds that perfect number.

Thus as usual, since I’ve watched more animes, old and new this year, there are quite a few candidates for me to judge and decide which of them would make the list. It’s a tough choice but a decision had to be made. Who are the lucky 10? Scroll down below and you’ll find out as they are listed in alphabetical order. In addition, I’ve included short narratives to explain why they are my selected choice. Get ready…

1) Hiromi Yuasa (True Tears)
Hiromi Yuasa

The main motivation for me to see the series was this brunette girl. Even though I find the storyline at the end of the series to be rather okay and nothing that extraordinary. Though she seems uncheerful at first and a smile would fit her, at least she has the looks and it is enough to provide ‘eye candy’ to me.

2) Honoka Sakurai (Suzuka)
  Honoka Sakurai

She may have a dreamy voice and has her little insecurities, but I really like her long black silky hair. Enough said.

3) Kotoko Aihara (Itazura Na Kiss)
  Kotoko Aihara

May not be the smartest girl in terms of academic sense. May not be the most dependable woman when it comes to doing things which include simple chores. But she is damn persistent and steadfast in chasing the guy of her dreams (who is said to be at the other end of the intelligence polar) so much so he even gave in to her and got married! Her cute looks and voice doubles as another reason why she deserves a spot in this list.

4) Kuon (Koharu Biyori)
Kuon

The perfect and pretty maid robot created to serve but is still masterless as the store manager can’t let go of her simply just because…. she’s too perfect (but can’t say for her depressing attitude to yearn for a master at times). Another reason why she made it into this top 10 list is because of her gothic lolita dressing.

5) Mai Tokiha (Mai-HiME)
Mai Tokiha

Oh yeah! This girl has been in the list for the 3rd year running! My ultimate number 1 sweetheart! After all this years, I’m still captivated and enchanted by her unrivalled beauty. Seems like she’ll be occupying this spot for the years to come. It’s like her permanent seat. So make a good guess if she’ll be here the next time round? You know the answer…

6) Mao Mizusawa (Kimikiss Pure Rouge)

Mao Misuzawa

Her locks! Her twin braided locks, baby! I’m somehow attracted to it when I first laid my eyes on her. Also, her energetic, bubbly, cheerful and lively exterior is what makes this cute girl even cuter.

7) Megumi Amatsuka (Tenshi Na Konamaiki)
Megumi Amatsuka

Although she claims to be a boy previously and turned into a girl due to a twisted magic wish, heck, she turned into a damn pretty lady. Since she has a lady’s slender body, it’s enough for anyone to classify this lovely angel as a girl. Don’t mind her crude and boyish manners at times but her independent and self-reliant personality makes her truly a worthy bishoujo on this list. So you can consider her ‘unsuccessful’ wish as a blessing in disguise.

8) Miyako Miyazaki (Bamboo Blade)

Miyako Miyazaki

More affectionately known as Miya Miya, don’t let her pretty bimbo-like appearance fool you in the first place. That’s because she has a very dark and sadistic split personality. Bad girl personality, you can say. But her sinister side isn’t the reason why she made the cut. It’s her friendly and goody two shoes side that I love to see. She’s so lovable that way. Hey, if a short chubby ordinary kid can have her as his gal, this shows that it isn’t necessary that handsome hunks always get the girl.

9) Suigin Tou (Rozen Maiden)
Suigin Tou

For the 2nd year in a row, another bishoujo has made it to this list. That’s right. The 1st doll of the Rozen Maiden still has what it takes to cast me under her spell. Her long white hair and gothic lolita dressing mainly contributes and adds to my liking. Can I forever be your medium, pretty please?

10) Yuuno Houzuki (Kurenai)

Yuuno Houzuki

An independent and skilful martial artist of the assassin type Houzuki technique. Even if she is a strong fighter, her soft and gentle manners hides it all. A reason enough to captivate me and put her on this list. Thankfully she isn’t a cold blooded killer and despite her family background of killers, she looks forward more to live the life of a normal high school girl. Who says you need to be ruthless in this line of business.

A very well done for you 10 ladies who made the list. And as for those who did not, don’t despair but take heart that you are at least being considered and caused yours truly some sleepless nights and headaches before coming up with his absolute decision. For those who are interested to know who are those ladies, they include Aoi Misuzu (Hime-sama Goyoujin), Noe Isurugi (True Tears), Tokine Yokimura (Kekkaishi), Tomoyo Sakagami (Clannad), Shinobu (Bamboo Blade), Saki Tenjouin and Yui Kotegawa (To Love-Ru), Eriko Futami (Kimikiss Pure Rouge), Nana Yamamoto (Bokura Ga Ita), Koyomi Hare Nanaka (Girls Bravo), Abiru Kobushi (Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei), Sarasa Honda and Rinzu Kuroda (Raimuiro Senkitan), Haruka Minami (Minami-ke), Tamaki Saimon (Kakyuusei 2), Nanaka Yatsushiro (Myself; Yourself), Ayano Sonozaki (Chokotto Sister), Anri Hiiragi (Happiness!), Remi Suzuki (Moetan), Mihato Uesugi (Kimi Ga Aruji De Shitsuji Ga Ore De), all those smart pretty side character high school girls in Special A and all those lanky and beautiful side character ladies in One Piece.

And to end it all on a spectacular note, here is another great big picture as a tribute to my numero uno love of my life! The eternally beautiful and stunning, the dazzling and strking, the one and only Mai Tokiha!!! Stand up and give another round of applause for this girl (just do it even if you don’t wholeheartedly agree with me!).
Mai Tokiha 3

It will soon be the turn of another new year. And hopefully with another 365 days, there will be more and more pretty kawaii bishoujos for me to discover. I won’t be surprise if there will be abundant of them next year since there will be more animes coming out (seeing the increasing rate of animes the industry is producing yearly) and more animes that I anticipate to watch. Call me a loser or any sort but I find many of these 2D girls to be much more attractive in terms of appearance and personality. You can’t find them in the real world, can’t you? So scorn me if you will! But for now, three cheers and Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top 10 Bishoujos

29 December, 2007

It’s that time of year again. Yup, around last year at this point in time, I did a top 20 list of the most pretty, kawaii, attractive ladies of anime. In my eyes and heart of course. However that was on the last day of year 2006. Since I can’t wait for a few more days, I decided to bring forward this blog (haha what difference does it make?). But just like the last time, this will be my final blog for the year 2007. Oh what a year it has been. Time really flies when you’re having fun.

Also, if you notice, my list for this year has been cut down to 10 instead of last year’s 20 candidates. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, somehow the ladies from the animes that I watched don’t seem as pretty as they should (controversial! Those who want to beg to differ may do so) and secondly, I feel like I didn’t watch as much animes as compared to last year, thus lowering the possibilities of discovering new bishoujos. Uh huh. Lame.

But even having said so, there is still the usual minor headache of deciding which of the handful of ladies should be admitted into my top 10 list. So why didn’t I just expand my top 10 list to accomodate them? Well well well. The number 10 has always been associated with perfection like a perfect 10 score. You get what I mean. So without wasting any further precious moments, here is the list of 10 ladies who made the cut. Of course, in alphabetical order.

1) Ayumi Kubota (Aishiteruze Baby)
Ayumi Kubota

2) Hime (Kaibutsu Oujo)
 Hime

3) Mai Tokiha (Mai-HiME)
 Mai Tokiha 04

4) Miu Furinji (History’s Strongest Disciple Kenichi)
Miu Furinji

5) Najimi Osana (Doujin Work)
 Najimi Osana

6) Nao Yoshikawa (Good Morning Call)
 Nao Yoshikawa

7) Nobuko Ishihara (Lovely Complex)
Nobuko Ishihara

8) Orihime Inoue (Bleach)
 Orihime Inoue

9) Suigin Tou (Rozen Maiden)
 Suigin Tou 5

10) Tsukino Azusagawa (Yakitate! Japan)
 Tsukino Azusagawa

Congratulations to those lucky ladies who managed to make the cut. But I need to mention those who nearly missed out on this coveted place too. They include Nana Komatsu of NANAMisaki Nakahara of NHK Ni YoukosoNanaka Shirakawa of Da Capo II, Shinobu and Sakuya of Nagasarete Airantou, Nagi Sanzenin and Maria of Hayate No Gotoku, Rangiku Matsumoto of Bleach, Sasha of Pita Ten, Setsuna of Kyoshiro To Towa No Sora, Kagami Hiiragi of Lucky Star, Sherwood of Kaibutsu Oujo, Kyoko Himeji of Girl’s High, Saber of Fate/Stay NightMama of Seto No Hanayome, Keiko Fukuya of Momoiro Sisters, Shihou Matsuri of Sola, all those pretty side character girls of Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge and as well as all those beautiful rich side character school girls from Ouran High School Host Club.

Although I’m not really into manga, I have to say that a particular manga character did caught my attention. She is Isuzu Rin of Fruits Basket. Yup, unfortunately though the series was adapted into anime, however her character wasn’t. So if she was, she would’ve made it into my top 10 list. Uh huh. Just like some sources say, she’s ‘exuding sex appeal’. Hehehe. Hey, I kinda notice that most of the bishoujos who made the top 10 list are brunettes. Do I have a festish for brown heads? Not really. It’s just coincidence.

And if you also notice that one of the ladies who made the top 10 list is a repeat from last year’s. Yes! That’s right! It’s Mai Tokiha!!! She’s still the number 1 bishoujo and will always occupy the top spot in any bishoujo list, and my heart ;). So here’s another picture of her to celebrate her eternal beauty which is no other than the one and only Mai Tokiha! (Hmm… Doesn’t this line sound like deja vu from the last time?).
 Mai Tokiha 20

Hopefully with the dawn of the new year, there’ll be more bishoujos for me to discover and of course more animes for me to watch. Erm… Maybe that line made me sound like a loser and a pervert. Mind you, pretty kawaii bishoujos are 1 of the many things that I look for in an anime besides the storyline, drawing, animation, voice acting and soundtrack. Therefore, let me assert once more: Long Live Anime Bishoujos!

Top 20 Bishoujos

30 December, 2006

To end the year 2006, I’ve decided to come up with a list of the top 20 Bishoujous of anime. Actually, I’ve got this idea quite some time ago but I needed time to plan it all out.

You see, there are many reasons why one watches an anime or looks out for when watching them. It could be because of the storyline, or perhaps the character developments, or maybe the superb drawing and breathtaking scenaries. Not to mention the extraordinary voice acting or the excellent music and soundtrack. But for me, one main reason to watch a series is simply because… there’re pretty and kawaii bishoujos! Yes, that’s what I also look for when I watch an anime. And no, don’t think that I’m a pervert because of that. I just feel that they’re more than just eye candy which make the series much more pleasurable to watch.

Also, I decided to limit my list to 20 bishoujos since there are countless of them. Thus, now I know what it’s like to be a judge. You have to make painful decisions with so many nominees but with so limited spots. *Sighs*. So below are those who manage to get squeezed into my top 20 list in ALPHABETICAL ORDER and NOT THE PRETTIEST ORDER. Yeah, seems I can’t decide on their ranking as well. Oh well, here we go:-

1. April (Coyote Ragtime Show)

2. Ayu Tateishi (Ultra Maniac)

3. Chika Koizumi (Kyou No Go No Ni)

4. Eclair (Kiddy Grade)

5. Kaname Chidori (Full Metal Panic)

6. Lacus Clyne (Mobile Suite Gundam Seed)

7. Mai Tokiha (Mai-HiME)

8. Mai Santa Claus (Itsudatte My Santa)

9. Megumi Kannazuki (Muteki Kanban Musume)

10. Nina Sakura (Ultra Maniac)

11. Noi Kasahara (Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge)

12. Pacifica Cassul (Scrapped Princess)

13. Rena Lanford (Star Ocean EX)

14. Rosette (Chrno Crusade)

15. Sana Kurata (Kodocha)

16. Tenma Tsukamoto (School Rumble)

18. Yukino Miyazawa (Kare Kano)

19. Yumi Yukuzawa (Maria-sama Ga Miteru)

20. Yuufa (Ragnarok The Animation)

Please note that this list IS NOT meant to be definitive. Yup, as at of today, these pretty kawaii bishoujos are the top 20 that occupies my list at this point in time. In the future, there may be other bishoujos which may make it into the list since there are many more bishoujos out there waiting to be discovered!

Though I need to mention that some came quite close in making the list but were eventually ‘dropped’ due to the limited places. They include Rushuna Tendou (Grenadier), Sango (Inu Yasha), Mai Taniyama (Ghost Hunt), Nagisa Misumi and Honoka Yukishiro (Pretty Cure), Tsunade (Naruto), Sakura Mikan (Gakuen Alice), Esther Blanchett (Trinity Blood), Kotori Shirakawa (Da Capo), Akane Suzumiya (Akane Maniax), Miyu Kouzuki (Daa! Daa! Daa!), Princess Feena (Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro Na – Crescent Love), Sakuno Ryuzaki (Prince Of Tennis), Yume Kikuchi (Someday’s Dreamers), Winry Rockbell (Fullmetal Alchemist), Yoshino Shimazu (Maria-sama Ga Miteru), Dorothy (Marchen Awakens Romance), Ayako Takasu (Mamoru-kun Ni Megami No Sukufuku Wo), Mio (Asobotto Senki Goku) and Nanami Jinnai (El Hazard).

Before I conclude, there is one bishoujo who’s the top number 1 of all time, though I mentioned earlier on that the list is not a ranking one. But she certainly stood out and won my heart. Who is it? If you’ve been following my blog all this while, you’ll know that the winner is no other than bishoujo number 7 Mai Tokiha!!!!! Yes, Mai Tokiha is still the prettiest of the lot and she’ll continue to rule the roost forever and ever!

Here’s another big picture of her to celebrate her eternal beauty, the one and only Mai Tokiha.

So there you have it, the top 20 bishoujos. Have any comments or objections? Feel free to do so. Hey, everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. Long live bishoujos of anime!
