Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear Punch

2 September, 2023

Oh well. I guess we still have to BEAR with it! That’s right. If you think the first season wasn’t enough and was just BEARABLE, then there is the second season that we all still have to BEAR with. Uh huh. Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear Punch is that sequel about a girl who gets stuck playing a game but given all the cool and overpowered power ups at her disposal with the only downside of having to wear this embarrassing bear suit 24/7. Yup. That. So while she BEARS with this embarrassment and gets along with her virtual life, we too have to BEAR with all the cute shenanigans that will come along in this sequel. Sighs… Kuma…

Episode 1
Yuna is eating her favourite honey pancakes when Mirein notes an impending problem. Honey prices are going up because there are orcs hogging the bee tree (you heard that right, not a beehive!) and this prevents the gatherers from getting it. Well, like as though it was all part of Mirein’s plan to have Yuna do something about it. So Yuna goes talk to Helen about taking up that quest and as she arrives at the bee tree, not only she sees orcs but real bears too! Yes. Real bears! This wasn’t in the description so she is in a dilemma whether to attack them because they too might attack humans. The orcs defeat the bear parents and they’re about to do the same to their cubs. So no more deliberating from Yuna as she goes to own those orcs’ asses. To her confusion, the bear gives her some of the honey. As she reports this to Helen, the caretaker of the bee tree, Rem explains that the bears are somewhat his. He closes an eye for them taking honey in exchange they ward off other monsters. It’s a symbiotic relationship. With this new info, Yuna can request Cliff to let those bears live in peace. Now that prices of honey has returned to normal, Cliff sees Yuna again for another official meeting. Seems Ellalaura has written to Yuna to have her formally visit the royal palace again. He also notes the tunnel will soon be completed and things will get busy again. Yuna visits the royal palace and Flora is glad to see her again. He lets her eat the honey pancakes and the king hints he could make it every day if only he had the recipe. Yuna is going to give it to him, right? Yuna has also completed her picture book for Flora as she becomes excited for its continuation. Apparently Flora has been reading those books to the staffs of the palace so you bet Yuna’s works is famous around here too. Later Ellalaura has a request of Yuna and wants her to be the bodyguards of students of the royal academy who are going outside for some training. Yeah, Yuna trying to make excuse why she can’t but apparently there’s nobody else who are willing to put up to those snobbish spoilt brats, right? Don’t worry, Shia will come along with her. Plus, Ellalaura will be in her debt so this is a fair deal.

Episode 2
Yuna feeling so lazy, she doesn’t want to do her job! Not if mama Fina tells her to be responsible! So as Yuna goes to meet Ellalaura and Shia to be briefed about this job, she is dismayed the students are not told about her. Yeah, trying to see their reactions like how Shia was? As expected, the students whom Yuna will be escorting other than Shia are Marix, Timol and Cattleya. Obviously they are shocked to see this bear girl and can’t believe she is their bodyguard. Even if Yuna shows her adventurer card, they think she bought it with money. It’s pretty common for nobles to do so. Yuna begins her journey with the students although they don’t really place much hopes on her. They take shifts while camping out and nothing untoward happens. Until the last stretch of the journey, Kumayuru and Kumakyu detect a small pack of goblins waiting to ambush. Shia thinks Yuna should reveal this ability to the students to help increase her reputation. Thanks to the warning, the students are able to fight back the goblins and defeat them. Marix being a tsundere as he tries to apologize to Yuna for being a dick but changes his mind to thank her bears instead. As they depart, Yuna thought the goblins were acting strange. Like as though they were desperate for something. They arrive at the village where the students will be staying. Of course the villagers are bemused with Yuna’s outfit. As the girls prepare for the night in their room, it seems observant Cattleya knows that Shia is quite close to Yuna and knows her for some time due to the way they interact with each other. So they don’t want the boys to find out? Yuna then calls Fina to update and assure her everything is okay. Thanks to Shia around, she managed to pull through as there were many times she just wanted to quit and go home.

Episode 3
While helping around the silkworm workshop, a resident reports that goblins have attacked one of the sheds near the silkworm nest. Some workers are trapped there. Marix and the rest offer to go help as Yuna tags along. The goblins are easily defeated and the trapped ones safe. However they realize something strange because the goblins weren’t trying to attack them but instead trying to get into the shed. Then it all makes senses because a black tiger was chasing them. Oh damn, so you kids killed a bunch of innocent goblins?! Anyway, the students are scared and think they’ll die. Marix offers to be decoy to let the rest run away. With Shia pleading Yuna’s turn for help, I guess she has to. Because their surrounding is also surrounded by black tigers. Yuna shows off her overpowered moves as she easily defeats all the black tigers. Marix especially in shock and awe as Shia explains that Yuna didn’t buy her licence and obtained it through hard work. So don’t judge a book by its cover next time. If you think nothing scares Yuna, maybe those giant silkworms will. Big bugs looking pretty scary. Later the students apologize to Yuna for their arrogance and thank her for her huge help. With the training over, the students return to their academy. Jiguldo who is another fellow student but of another batch is seeing off his adventurer escorts, Mel and Jaden. They both know who Yuna is. Jiguldo has no ill intentions although he quips Yuna’s weird outfit so the rest come to Yuna’s defence and warn there’ll be hell to pay if he bothers her! Later Ellalaura talks to Yuna as she describes those students’ good and bad points. Asking if Yuna would take up this job again, NO! The students treat Yuna to meal as thanks.

Episode 4
With the tunnel opened, Yuna is glad she is able to savour seafood dishes from Ans again. Right timing because Ans and her friends are visiting Crimonia, she suggests to them helping out the orphanage too. At the same time, Sherry gives Yuna an embroidered cushion. Ans and friends are shown around town before they are put in Telmina’s care since they will be helping to run her shop. With Mirein having bear outfits at uniforms, definitely it will be embarrassing to wear those, right? Hence Yuna suggests Sherry’s design on the apron and of course everybody approves of it. Hence Yuna goes to see Sherry to see if she can make a few more. Of course. But since she lacks the finer skills, Yuna takes her to a tailor shop where the couple can help guide and provide the materials for it. Sherry’s hard work pays off and the tailors are so impressed with her handy work that they suggest taking her on as an apprentice. After handing over the aprons to Ans and co, Yuna notices Sherry a little down. She goes to talk to her and learns about the apprenticeship offer. You see, Sherry is in a dilemma whether to accept it. Most probably she will turn it down as she fears doing so will burden the rest with more work at the orphanage. She also thinks her fellow orphans will get mad. Yuna suggests to talk to them to ask for their opinion. Long story short, sorry Sherry they didn’t get mad but happily accept her decision. Whatever extra tasks they have to do are no biggies and in fact, some of them are actually holding second part time jobs elsewhere. Thus the most important thing is for Ans not to have regrets. It is her life after all. With all doubts blown away, Sherry accepts the offer. All is well and fine. The orphanage and even Ans and pals helping out at the restaurant.

Episode 5
Yuna wants Fina to use her knife to cut this black tiger but she claims she can’t. Believing her knife is not strong enough, she’ll take her to the dwarven shop to get better equipment. Yuna gets all excited hearing the ultimate mithril knife and needs to have it for Yuna no matter how expensive. Sure, but there’s a problem: There’s no mithril stock right now. Furthermore, there are not many blacksmiths here who can work on it. They will send a recommendation to a dwarven blacksmith in the royal capital, Ghazal so they can get one. Arriving there, despite the letter, unfortunately Ghazal can’t make one for them because he too has no mithril stock. Apparently the mine is having some trouble with the golems. For more details, head down to the adventurer guild. Too bad some punks look down on a bear girl and a loli. WTF they try to get rough? Enough for Yuna to put them down, though. This farce is ended when Sanya tells them off. Learning they are here for the mines, she tells about the problem it is facing. Right now golems are inhabiting it and they are unsure how many there are. Right now only 2 adventurer parties are taking on this job to clear the golem threat as the rest aren’t interested. You bet Yuna is going to accept this job. Arriving there, she sees the people lifeless. Probably affected by this golem thingy. She meets Mel and Jaden who are here to tackle the golem issue. They share info that their number seems endless and the deeper you go, the stronger they become. Yuna also meets the other adventurer party on this mission. Led by Barbould, they mock Yuna as some pet mascot. Though, they are more interested in a competition to see which party eliminates all the golems first. Yuna thinks at least Fina is safe but looks like she is being ‘traumatized’ by Ellalaura and Shia as they want to put expensive clothes on her! Scared she’ll never pay if she rips them?!

Episode 6
Yuna thinks of going to fight the golems herself. Too bad Mel’s party wants to come along. Actually they think Yuna should come with them to fight golems. There goes her solo adventuring. Meanwhile Fina must be panicking like hell, wondering if she’ll offend the king in any way. Death sentence! Then she meets the king and Flora. The king notes Fina is way more polite than Yuna. Yeah, that bear girl never bothered to even come see him and when he sees her (usually in Flora’s room), she gives him that look! I guess only those like God can do such disrespect to a king! As Yuna and co easily take out the golems as they proceed deeper, eventually they meet their match with the toughest golem of all, the mithril golem. Its body is so hard that no physical attack or magic penetrates. Barbould’s party is handling it and is telling the rest to stay away. If that’s the case, Jaden will let them handle it as he tells his party to return. Eventually they fail to kill it. The adventurers think there is no hope in taking it out so they all just drink to it? Of course for Yuna, she believes if she can defeat it, she’ll get her hands on some mithril. Meanwhile Fina thought she is doomed when she accidentally breaks a glass and spills the drink on her clothes. Compensation! Thank goodness Ellalaura and Shia aren’t even mad as this happens very often with Noire. The servants clean it up and they even have a new dress for Fina prepared. F*cking rich people! Yuna goes solo to fight the mithril golem. But she transports it to the seaside where she can go all out. She lifts it high in the air to drop and break it. Once it is immobilize, she goes for the core. Easy. Returning to the cave, her bears found a pair of black balls buried nearby. Then a message from God saying she left presents for her from time to time to find. This means the infinite spawning of golems is caused by these balls and so it’s Yuna’s fault somehow? Yuna returns to the adventurers to tell them she has singlehandedly taken out all the golems including the mithril one. She just wants them to go check and confirm tomorrow if they will respawn. Of course everyone is in shock especially Barbould cannot believe this pet did it by herself. Yuna zaps him out. That’s for all the insults. Next mission: Time to head back and rescue a certain princess.

Episode 7
The adventurers confirm Yuna’s words. Barbould even trying to make Yuna join his party but obviously she turns him down. And he wonders why… Then she goes to pick up Fina. Wow. Like as though she just rescued her from some dangerous exploit. Definitely. After all the sweet goodness she has been through, any commoner would be close to heart attack death. As they leave, Ellalaura gives Yuna a knife with their family crest. It signifies that she is under their protection so if there is any trouble, be sure to contact them. I’m sure Yuna can pretty much handle any trouble by herself… Then she goes give the mithril golem to Ghazal. Yuna also requests to make another mithril knife for her own usage. When she asks about this black ball, he is unsure of what rock it is. He recommends seeing his master at the dwarven city. It’s quite far and they only let you in via recommendations. Of course Yuna won’t miss this chance to visit. They pass by Morin’s ex-shop and see a sad girl waiting outside. She is Nerin, Morin’s niece and she thought Morin has gone bankrupt and on the run. Yuna tells her that she is now doing business in Crimonia and no need to worry. As she has no money to travel there, Yuna gives some of hers. Back home, when Shuri desires to be a carver like her sister, Yuna thinks of giving her a mithril knife too. But suddenly… Fina gets mad?! WTF?! She lectures Yuna on how expensive such mithril is and their parents will have to work a long time just to save up for that. In that case, Yuna will loan hers. This makes Fina even madder! In order to repent her actions, Yuna makes strawberry shortcake for the sisters. Of course Fina feels sorry for her outburst. As requested, Fina will carve the black tiger with her mithril knife at the guild so the staff can study the process more. With everyone’s support, Fina starts carving it up. Back home, it is déjà vu because Telmina is lecturing Yuna about giving a mithril knife. Yeah, heard that before. Yuna promises to keep it stored nicely and will only use with proper supervision. Yet another déjà vu as Telmina is soothed by Yuna’s strawberry shortcake. Should add this to the menu. Yay, we can eat this again!

Episode 8
Nerin finally meets Morin and wonders why she never let her know that they have moved. Well, Morin did send a letter to her father and perhaps he forgot all about it. Yuna just arrived at the shop and Nerin is glad to see her. Too bad Yuna doesn’t remember her! Eventually she does as she learns Nerin’s wish to work here since it is her dream to be a baker. But Morin asks Yuna for permission since she is the owner of this shop. Of course, is there a reason not to? Yuna is also here to introduce this shortcake. Delicious of course but Morin finds it hard to make since they have their hands full at other types of bread. Nerin then offers to learn how to do it so Yuna starts teaching her. Yuna and Fina go visit Noire to introduce this shortcake. After that duo go learn from her maid, Lala on how to brew tea. Cliff is free enough to review their tea and of course they pass. Obviously they are using not high quality tea leaves since it would be a waste to use them for practice. So imagine if they were high quality… Yeah. I bet this guy would start to go into exaggerated reaction mode. Soon, Yuna returns to the capital to see Ghazal to get her twin mithril knives. She tests it out by easily carving the iron golem corpse. We can attribute half to the knives’ awesomeness and the other half to Yuna’s exceptional skill. Busy day for Yuna as she continues to be the marketing team for the shortcake as she know introduces it to Flora and the royal family. We know the answer, right? Then the palace’s head chef, Zelef comes to personally thank Yuna for the pudding recipe. Behold and be enthralled further as he tastes the shortcake. Yeah, see those tears! This makes Zelef want to travel the world and learn different types of foods. This makes the king sad as he won’t be able to eat his cooking anymore. That is when the queen gets an idea to have chefs from other countries to see Zelef. Well, look whose diplomatic work will be piling up? That’s you, Ellalaura. As thanks Zelef will cook anything for Yuna. And so Yuna returns with her stomach very full and satisfied. It’s a good thing she won’t put on any weight, right?

Episode 9
Yuna and Fina get a birthday invitation from Misa. So why is Fina panicking? Oh, never attended a noble’s birthday party, huh? Wow, after that stint, she really must be worried about offending nobles, eh? Since Yuna herself doesn’t know much about nobles, they go visit and talk to Cliff and Noire. They too have been invited and rest assured this is a private party with only a selected few and close ones invited. Fina feeling the pressure when Noire explains how sad she’ll be if she didn’t turn up to a party she was invited. Yeah, so I guess they’ll be going rather than declining it. Whatever nobles complicated stuffs, Cliff will handle. Also, good to know that there is no death penalty if you decline one. To make preparations for the party, Yuna goes to see Ans to get some tailor made dresses. Then they discuss on what kind of gifts to prepare so they make lots of cakes and sweets. Yuna and Fina then meet up with Cliff and Noire to depart to the next town of Sheelin where Misa lives. OMFG, the bears run faster than the horses! And even tire them out! Now I’ve seen everything! The journey is far so they camp with Yuna’s convenient makeshift bear house in the forest when night falls. Yuna asking Cliff for more details about Sheelin and nobles but he assures her there is nothing to worry about. Just enjoy the party. Next day as they continue, Yuna spots goblin riders attacking a family merchant. Of course she easily takes them out. Déjà vu? The merchants know all about Yuna because of her bear suit and rumours of her has spread wide. It seems they are on their way to another city to start anew after their business failed in Sheelin. They part ways as Yuna and co finally reach Sheelin. Everyone looking at them. Obviously they’re staring at Yuna but she can’t accept reality and thinks they’re staring at Cliff the noble instead! Finally they arrive at Misa’s castle mansion. Meishun her maid greets them before Misa herself comes to greet them. Yuna is glad she didn’t turn down the invitation.

Episode 10
Yuna and co meet the rest of Misa’s family. Misa introduces the head chef, Botts who will be cooking dishes for the birthday party. So while they let the adults handle all the preparations, the kids go hang out in town. Yeah, getting more stares from the public. But soon the fun is ruined when this snobbish noble, Randle Salbard starts to mock Misa of being a poor noble and that her family will soon be going under. He tries to arrogantly invite himself to her party but she turns him down. Before things get ugly, Yuna intervenes. She would love to keep the commotion to a minimum but Randle calls his bodyguard, Brad (some Dracula overlord?) to take her on. However this only makes a fool out of Randle and Brad tells him to call it off before they attract unwanted attention. Later as Misa apologizes for all this, she tells a little history of Sheelin that this history is ruled by 2 lords. Her family rules the eastern side while the Salbard on the western side. Yuna then talks to Cliff and Gran about this as they explain more about Sheelin’s peculiar history on why the royal let 2 nobles rule it. But that was when both sides got along and now that they don’t, things only got more hostile. Because tax revenue for the eastern side has dropped, the king threatened to dismiss their noble status and this would leave Salbard as the only rulers of Sheelin. Therefore Misa’s party is to show that the Farrengram family is still strong as well as the Foscurose family is standing strong with them. But more bad news as Botts is injured in an attack. They believe it is Salbard but they have no proof. Cliff will send his bodyguards back to get replacements but soon, they too get attacked and are now immobile. Once more, the highly suspected Salbard monitoring their moves but no proof. Cliff is forced to ask Yuna for help when he promised her to leave this to the adults. Hence Yuna goes to the royal capital to seek an audience with the king. Apparently he too knows about the politics happening at Sheelin. However Yuna is not here to bring up a complaint about them but to request Zelef as the replacement chef. Yeah, that chef is eager to go and show his skills! So, they’re not teleporting back there but riding the bears? Oh well, they’re faster than horses. Better get a move on before Zelef describes the delicious parts of her bears that can be used for meat and delicacy… Are you curious on how bear meat tastes like?!

Episode 11
Everyone is shocked when Yuna brings Zelef. He is glad to work with his comrade Botts again. Meanwhile Randle and his father, Gajurdo are also one of the many attending the party. Gajurdo is happy his plans are going well but WTF Randle’s answer is to eliminate everything?! Even at least Gajurdo has the decency not to resort to that. During the party, Gajurdo and his men cause a scene that the food tastes bad despite it tastes freaking good. Gran tries to appease them but they continue to call it pig slop and even trample on them. All those spineless guests have no balls to oppose him. But this is all part of Yuna’s foresight because now Zelef turns up as he tries to ascertain what is wrong with the food so he could make it better. That is because he needs to improve it for the king to eat. That is when everybody realizes who this chef is. Oh boy. Gajurdo’s men start to panic as they feign they were sick so they couldn’t taste properly. Gajurdo wonders how he got here so fast seeing Botts was injured. How does he know Botts is injured? Oops. When all avenues are exhausted, Gajurdo also feign sickness. Take care. Back home, Gajurdo curses his luck. Randle’s answer? Kill everybody! Of course Gajurdo isn’t so stupid to stoop to that and tells his idiot son to STFU. You think Randle will take this? Next day, Ellalaura visits. Not only is she here to help celebrate Misa’s birthday but to personally inspect this city after the king spoken out on this issue. Before Misa’s birthday party begins, Noire and Fina gang up to force Yuna to wear this lovely dress. Can she take off her bear suit?! APPARENTLY YES!!! HOW?! Oh well, as long as those bear gloves and boots stay on. And of course, Yuna is looking so stunning with this beautiful dress. A different side to her other than her bear suit. Oh wow. But don’t steal the limelight. It’s Misa’s birthday party, you know. Yuna then gives teddy bear presents to her. This sends Noire reeling because she didn’t get one and ‘blames’ her parents for not giving birth to her on today. WTF… Don’t worry, Yuna promises to get her a set next time.

Episode 12
When Yuna is in town, suddenly she gets a distress call for help from Fina. She rushes back to see everyone being taken out! Misa is missing. After healing an injured Fina, she is told that somebody came to kidnap Misa. Alright. That does it. No more Ms Nice Bear. She has an idea who did this and has her bears lead her there. As we all also know, it is stupid Randle who kidnapped Misa. But in her cell there are also other kidnapped kids whose families do not listen to them. Randle goes to brag about this to his dad to use Misa to get Gran to bow to their demands and of course he blows his top over his stupidity and stubbornness. Too late about thinking Randle will take him down along with him because here Yuna is at the doorstep. She’s not in the mood for playing so if you don’t answer her questions, you get taken out. Brad then attacks her and of course she avoids. He is impressed with her skills and starts blabbing that he was the one who kidnapped Misa. Yuna couldn’t be ‘happier’ since now she gets to beat his ass. They start fighting and while Brad enjoys it, he’ll soon learn that Yuna is in a league of her own. She doesn’t use up all her raging power until Brad spills that he loves beating up the weak, include Fina and Noire who tried to futilely protect Misa. Yup, that sealed his doom. Yuna takes him out and panicky Randle takes Misa out as hostage. Dumb move because she punches him out cold. Gajurdo pleads his innocence that he has nothing to do with it all. It was all Randle’s doing. Ellalaura is here with the guards to arrest them as Misa claims there are other abducted kids in the cell. Because Gajurdo is willing to cooperate and bring down his own son just to save his own skin, Ellalaura then has her guards search his whole mansion. Maybe they’ll stumble upon proof of his wrongdoings. And that’s the end of these arrogant nobles. Misa now can cry her heart out in Yuna’s arms. They are then reunited with the rest who are glad everything turned out well. In the aftermath, Gajurdo, Randle and Brad are imprisoned. With the ton of evidence of Gajurdo’s wrongdoing, he was given the death penalty. Randle was stripped of his title and exiled from Sheelin. Gran and his family inherited the sole position of Sheelin’s mayor and the town soon prospered. Everyone praising Yuna as a goddess who brings more luck to good people and bad luck to the bad ones. Yeah, how does the title of goddess of bears sound! Unbearable! HAHAHA!

Bare Necessities: Can’t Bear Punch This One Out Of A Paper Bag!
I guess we needed some sort of circumstances for Yuna to unleash her rage as well as the full extent of her bear powers. Yeah. Dumb noble dick scumbags are the only way to go but as I have seen, all that isn’t even half of Yuna’s true power. I mean, the girl who can easily take down monsters and beasts, if she unleashed all that on these bad people, they’ll be dead! And Yuna will be tainted as a murderer! And that will make all the lolis lose their smiles and thus failed to protect those cute little smiles she promised to do so. Can’t have that, can we? So yeah, just rough them up a little bit and now she’s the goddess of this world. Oh wow. I can’t believe we BEAR through all that! Thank goodness it is now over!

Honestly, this season felt boring and very forgettable. I don’t see what this season is about except more of Yuna and friends cute and kawaii shenanigans. Oh wait. Does this series have a serious plot to begin with? After all, with all the sugar coated niceness, it seems that we have all but forgotten that this whole world is actually a game that Yuna is trapped inside! Do we still remember that?! What was the game’s name again? Oh right. World Fantasy Online AKA WFO! Yeah, don’t even remember it all had I not do some referring to my previous blog! Yikes. Really and truly have forgotten about it all, no? Or is that a forgone conclusion because Yuna has now adapted herself pretty well into this world and can consider herself a true citizen and inhabitant of Crimonia. Whatever the case may be, this season still sucks. To put it in the crudest of ways, that is. Remember, Yuna has no family or friends back in her own world so there’s no reason for her to go back there, right? And what’s this about making money via stocks?! Yeah, screw that. Adventuring and eating good food here is much better. So uhm, can Yuna hand me those stocks because it’s not like she’s needing the money, no?

I mean really, what else can we expect from the second season? There’s no nefarious plot to overthrow the kingdom or some sort of Demon Lord trying to take over the world or heck, destroy it. It’s such a nice world to live in except for a few stupid and arrogant nobles (aside the pesky monsters). Otherwise, this is very much a very peaceful life in this kingdom. At least for Yuna who is so freaking overpowered so there is nothing, literally nothing in this world that can best her. Therefore we can be rest assured and not worry if Yuna is going to die or seriously get injured because it’s part of the script that would not allow such drama to befall on our main beary character. Yeah. As long as this bear suit girl is around, the peace is safely kept. Everyone’s smile is protected. Everybody lives happily ever after.

Just like the plot for this season, the characters are also forgettable. We all know Yuna from last season so she’s not going to go through any major changes here. After all, she’s already so powerful how much more powerful can you make her? Just short of becoming God, that is. And so Yuna has learnt to BEAR with wearing the silly suit but it gives her all the powers she needs to kick ass and show those idiots their places. Good enough. Though the biggest surprise is that she can actually take the whole bear suit that covers her entire body and head off. I don’t know, is there a loophole somewhere because as far as I know, she couldn’t take it off anyhow and is stuck with this. Because if that is the case, why not just leave those gloves and boots and then go wear something else less embarrassing? Did she not figure this out or is this an oversight by everybody? Or is Yuna loving this bear suit actually… Mind boggling…

Even all the lolis this season feel as forgettable and boring. By the time I am typing this sentence, I can’t even remember a single memorable thing about them. Maybe a few stuffs. Like Fina on the verge of having some sort of anxiety attack for fear of offending the royalty since she was left alone in their care while Yuna is away. Don’t laugh, it could be very traumatic for an ordinary young commoner girl. But sadly, that is all I remember her for this season. Even Noire is pretty forgettable too except to ramp up the loli cuteness of everything. Just like every other lolis here. Just there to be cute so that we can fawn at how cute these young girls are. Are you sure this isn’t a show for lolicons? Even Shia only had her moment of shine in the early episodes and after that, she went MIA. Even that, she didn’t really do much since Yuna is the reluctant star. But better than never appearing at all, right? Because looking back at my previous blog, I noticed that there are a handful of characters that didn’t show up in this season like Atla. Not that I remember them in the first place but going through my blog and stumbling upon names I already forgotten, oh well, that’s how I ‘remembered’ them. And with a few new ones, I guess that only adds to the forgettable mess which of course my brain can’t handle and don’t care at this point.

EMT Squared was retained to handle this sequel so it’s great to see some consistency in the art and animation. Of course just like the first season, everything here is bright and colourful and your character designs especially the girls even the adults have this cute loli looks. Sure this is not a series for lolicons? Although some of the backgrounds and sceneries are still nice and high quality, but sometimes some of them look like filters. Did somebody forget to take out those dots in the background? Oh right, it’s this series’ trademark visuals. Oh well, when you’re paying attention to the cute lolis… Azumi Waki who sang the first season’s opener, also sings this season opening theme. Kimi To No Mirai sounds almost similar to Itsuka No Kioku, like as though it is its spiritual successor. This upbeat anime piece has all the liveliness and sparkling cuteness that makes it, uhm, lively and sparkling with cuteness. Just like last season too, Maki Kawase is also retained to sing the ending theme. However Zutto sounds more dramatic, a little dark and mature, rather than all that cuteness that was Ano Ne.

Oh wow. Look how short my end blog for this season has been! A testament that I was really bored in watching this sequel and there was nothing much to write and even sh*t on. Good for you if you love all those sparkling cute loli goodness. I’m done with this. I got sucker (bear) punched. But oh well, to be fair, it was not entirely a bad series and to say that I have wasted my time watching this isn’t fair either. Because there was some sort of hope (no matter how faint it is) that somewhere in this season, things might pick up and get better. But it did not. I was just bored all the way. That’s right. Unfortunately I grit my teeth and BEAR with all the boredom until I’m so numb at this point. Thank goodness it has ended. No more another season, please! That would definitely by utmost unbearable!

Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear

6 March, 2021

I know, people. I know. It’s another season and we need to showcase yet another overpowered main character in another fantasy world. Yes, yes, yes. I know you’re bored, tired and sick of this trope but just bear with me on this one, okay? JUST BEAR WITH ME. OKAY. What if, we give that main character all the power ups and god-like powers but then in exchange for all that, there is just one tiny condition for that main character to bear. That condition is that she must wear a very silly looking bear outfit all the time!!! What do you say now?! See?! That’s the trade off, right?! I mean, who in their right mind would wear a stupid bear costume that will make others instantly laugh and LOL at first sight just to get all the powerful goodies and skills, right?! That embarrassing silliness is what our heroine has to bear in Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear as she puts on that ridiculous (but cute) getup just for infinite and expanding abilities! I know, people. I know. We just got to BEAR with it…

Episode 1
Kai rides all the way to the guild in the city of Crimonia to request for help as his village is being attacked by the black viper. He has money, he’ll pay. But wait. There are none who can take his request! But why?! Because high ranking adventurers are away on a mission and the rest are too scared and weak ass to do anything. That is, until Yuna shows up and is willing to take that job. WTF Kai doesn’t think she can fight in that ridiculous bear outfit?! Who is the one desperate for help?! Anyway, with caution from the guild, Yuna agrees to do scouting and gather info first. Since Kai’s horse is out exhausted after running all the way, Yuna materializes a couple of bear familiars, Kumayuru and Kumakyu to take them there. These bears faster than horses?! Upon reaching the village, everyone seems to be hiding in fear. Kai finds his father who laments the black viper has killed a few more people, especially their neighbour. But he laughs at Yuna’s ridiculous outfit! Say what you want, she’s going out to get some info and will see fit if she can defeat the monster. When she encounters it, of course the black viper is hostile so you bet she is going to take it down. Showcasing us all her super bear powers, she makes it look easy killing it. On the way back, Kai thought of sacrificing himself to let her give the info to others. Wait till he hears news she has defeated it… She shows proof of its carcass to the villages. Seeing is believing. It’s dead! Yahoo! Time to celebrate. Kai’s father apologizes for being rude and owes her one. What will it be? She’ll think about it when the time comes. But for now, she is more than happy to have free eggs given by the village elder. Yum. Yuna returns to her guild and surprises everyone how she defeat the black viper. You believe now? But now we have to see that Yuna also has a real life to live. And as excuse why she has so much free time and loads of money, it’s because she plays stocks! So rich she doesn’t need to go to school and even lends money to her parents to go on a vacation! Alas, a call from grandpa worried about her and a little ‘threatening’ that he’ll take away her apartment if she doesn’t visit him. Ah, real world problems so real… But for now, it’s back to her game, World Fantasy Online (WFO)!

Episode 2
Flashback shows Yuna got addicted to WFO a year after its release. Since she logged in many hours, she gets a special present: A bear outfit?! WTF?! Despite its overpowered stats all feel like cheating, she wouldn’t want to be caught dead in wearing that. She is asked a few weird questions like if she likes the virtual world, what she loves and if she believes in God. Because she wants to quickly play her game, she gives generally favourable answers. Especially when asked if she likes this bear suit. Yes of course. When she logs into the game, she is appalled she is now wearing this suit and can’t change it or log off. Worse, she saw her stats all down to Level 1. All her hard work down the drain. Then a message from God (admin?) saying this bear suit is a gift from her and has placed her in this new world and hopes she’ll like it. Yuna is then attacked by a wolf. She uses a scrawny stick to defend herself but a swing is enough to kill it?! She then sees a pack attacking a loli, Fina. Just throwing a stone, turns it into a projectile and kills it?! Yuna and Fina become friends as Yuna realizes she has now levelled up. Bringing her back to the city, naturally she stands out like a sore thumb so everyone stares at her. As she stays in her inn, she realizes that because her own real face is used instead of an avatar, it is clear she is in an isekai. She stays positive and hopes to enjoy this new world. Next day, she tests out her variety of skill sets. Yeah, get used to all those overpowered move sets and arsenal. To get an adventurer card, she joins a guild but this cocky bastard, Deborane mocks and challenges her. She’ll join if she can beat this jerk’s ass up. Yeah, she wiped his ass with just a single kuma punch. More lethal than any Falcon Punches! She joins the guild and what’s her occupation? A bear? No questions asked… Yuna pulls off amazing feats by completing quests in record time in hopes to gain trust of others. Gentz, who is Fina’s uncle talks to her and hopes she could give Fina a job (due to rules, there isn’t much job he could give Fina who has been working hard to earn money to take care of her sick mom and little sister. Oh, dad died a long time ago). On a quest, Yuna easily kills a pack of tiger wolves. Déjà vu again when one is attacking Fina. Easily taken care off by Yuna. Fina feels bad for this but Yuna offers her a contract to become her partner. Yuna will hunt while Fina will dismantle them so it can be brought to the guild (don’t ask, guild rules). Of course Fina isn’t going to pass up this offer. Hai, Yuna onee-chan!

Episode 3
Yuna has been defeating monsters left and right that it is giving Fina a hard time. You see, she doesn’t have time to harvest them all! Slow down! After all, since harvesting facilities are shared, it is proper etiquette to take turns. Also, Yuna has been barred to hunt in nearby forests because at this rate there’ll be nothing to hunt left! Damn. So what is bored Yuna going to do? Suddenly this dude, Lanz pops up and wants revenge on Deborane who is his comrade. I guess nobody can beat Yuna in teasing Deborane the goblin. Heh. Lanz is only stopped when his other pals, Lurina and Gil stop him. Because Deborane is injured thanks to Yuna’s beating, there is a goblin quest that is too much to handle for them. Cancelling it would mean failure and it will go on their permanent records. At first Yuna doesn’t want to get involved but seeing she got recommended… Yuna wants to go alone but Lurina insists to follow since this quest was theirs to begin with. Okay. Make sure your heart is prepared for whatever shock. So far so good for Lurina… Except maybe the teasing of Deborane the goblin… There are hundreds of Deborane goblins in the cave. You know the drill. Yuna easily destroys them and the rest she breathes flame into the cave and blocks the exit to make them suffocate. Science! They are then faced with the Deborane goblin king. No worries. We all know Yuna can take care of it, right? When that is done, Yuna forces Lurina to go collect their stones while she goes to sleep in her makeshift house. Got to do some work yourself. Back at the guild, everyone is shocked that Yuna pulled off this move. Lurina vouches as the witness and can tell Yuna is many times more powerful than Deborane. When Lanz and Gil apologize and thank her from the bottom of their heart, she didn’t expect this and is in shock. Heh. For once she doesn’t know what to do! Later, Yuna experiments by summoning her bear familiars. Yeah, they’re going to be real handy. With Fina, they visit the merchant guild to rent land to build a house. Because Yuna’s reputation is well known by now (Bloody Bear?), Mirein wants to personally know her better because it will benefit and profit both of them as well as the guild. Talking business now? Okay. Yoroshiku ne. Once they got the land, Yuna just uses her magic to instantly build a harvesting house just for Yuna! OMFG! Is it the kind where you add water and it instantly grows?! Of course not but HAHAHA!!!

Episode 4
Everyone cuts up the black viper and harvest its mana gem. Seeing a deep cut on Fina’s hand, Fina doesn’t mind but that won’t do for Yuna so she heals it up. Later the guild’s receptionist, Helen seeks help from Yuna. However without hearing the details, Yuna instantly declines! Helen is begging her but Yuna won’t listen. Seems she has this stereotype that nobles are cocky prideful bastards who are out to cheat the commoners. Until Guildmaster tells her Cliff Foscurose isn’t that kind of a baddie, Yuna reluctantly goes to see this lord. It seems his daughter, Noire has heard a lot about Yuna and wants to meet her in person. The happiest loli in the world when she sees Yuna. So Yuna spends the whole day with her telling stories about her exploits as well as letting Noire ride her bear familiars. Wow. Such fun. On to serious business, Cliff has a favour to ask from Yuna. As the king’s birthday is coming up, he hasn’t thought of a present yet so he thought of buying some mana gems from her and will compensate her accordingly. However Yuna still wants to keep them but she gives him the goblin king’s sword, a rare item. Cliff is more than satisfied with this and is glad to pay her any price. However she will not charge him a single cent but in return he owes her a favour. In the future if she is in trouble, she hopes he will come to her aid. Agreed. When Yuna returns home, she sees Fina depressed and crying hard. Looks like her mom’s illness has turn for the worst. The medicine isn’t working anymore and Gentz has left to find other medicine but hasn’t returned. Fina brings Yuna to see her mom, Telmina. She’s looking real bad. With Gentz returning with no medicine and younger sister, Shuri bawling out her tears, it’s time for Yuna to be Jesus Christ. Uh huh. Use heal! A little bit better but the disease is still inside so it makes no difference. More emotional drama like as though mom is going to die so Yuna won’t give up and realizes she might be imaging things wrongly. So she needs to imagine the source of illness being removed?! WTF?! Is she a doctor?! Hell, no! She’s f*cking Jesus Christ! And with that, her heal removes the illness! MOM IS CURED!!! YUNA IS YOUR GOD NOW! Emotional group hug! Because everyone is adamant to pay their due to Yuna, Yuna feels this makes her like a bad guy so she gives this treatment FOC. I guess when you’re all powerful and rich, protecting smiles is a much better option.

Episode 5
Remember those chicken eggs? They’re healthy but rare. Yuna finds it a pain to go so far to get them. How then? Oh, what’s this? A new skill? Bear Transfer Gate? Oh yeah… Says it all. With this quick teleportation skill, Yuna is able to head to Kai’s village to get some much needed eggs and give Telmina her much needed nourishment. Of course Fina doesn’t need to bear much of its costs since Yuna is the one handling it. In town, Yuna notices a group of orphanage children standing around. She finds out they are waiting for people to give them leftovers. Okay. Time to do charity work. She buys food for them and back at the orphanage, she learns from the director that their lord somewhat stopped funding them, thus causing this dire strait. Yuna instantly becomes mad at the thought that this is Cliff’s doing. Yuna then gets an idea. Going through the merchant guild, she builds a mini chicken farm so that the orphanage can work and earn some money from it. Oh, she makes Telmina their admin. While doing this job brings down the prices of eggs, Yuna is doing this intentionally so that shady people won’t target them when eggs are expensive. Yeah, all you just need to mention is Yuna’s name. That’ll strike fear. Soon their business is booming and in no time, Cliff confronts Yuna. It seems his family has been banned from buying those eggs! He traced it to the contract that was made by Yuna. Why is she doing this? This is when Yuna emotionally lashes out at him for being cruel to the orphans. No mercy. Seeing her at this state, Cliff doesn’t explain himself but goes away. He has his servant immediately investigate the missing funds and in no time the culprit is revealed to be Enz Roland. Typical greedy baddie look. He has been embezzling funds and falsifying documents while he and his family also used their status to cover up all their dirty doings. Cliff summons Enz for answers. The latter of course gives excuses until there is no way out. When Cliff mentions he has sent his men to his estate to seize evidence, Enz shows his true colours but Cliff punches him. Cliff then goes to apologize to the orphanage and Yuna for being sloppy and not noticing this problem. He offers to reinstate the funds but looks like the orphanage doesn’t need it as they can sustain on their own. Wow. Egg business doing real good. Cliff also thanks Yuna for helping him to stop things getting worse. Back home, Yuna is dying of embarrassment and felt she was being childish as she jumped the gun and started accusing without even checking. While Fina has some comforting words for her that she helped those in need, but I guess this proves that Yuna isn’t as all that powerful.

Episode 6
Gentz pops the question to Telmina. Will she accept? YES! Hooray! The family is a whole again. But soon, Fina comes panicking to Yuna because Telmina wants to call it quits?! WHAT HAPPENED?! Apparently Gentz put too much ketchup on his egg and Telmina too much honey on her bread. Oh yeah. Married problems. Yuna believes they’ll be fine if left alone but the sisters are really worried and think of heading outside town to get a crystal flower that mom loves in hopes they’ll get back together. Shuri might seem like a bold little curious girl. But I feel she’s like a country bumpkin, fascinated with everything and almost putting herself in danger. Heck, she fights off a mini viper and even disturbs a bee’s nest! At the spot, they try to search for the flower but to no avail. The day is getting darker and Shuri gets more desperate. Then she spots a bird stuck in the shrubs. The sisters help it out and despite not getting the flower, maybe its beautiful blue feather might help. When they return, the adults are not fighting. They never were. Not sure if this part of adulting… Anyway the sisters tell what they did and then show them the feather. Telmina is surprised because this was the charm that her late husband, Roy used to wear all the time. So this is some proof that daddy is watching over them? With the family one big happy family again, they even frame up the feather on the wall. Later the sisters visit Yuna’s place and she teaches them how to make pudding. Then they talk about their dream of travelling to many places and hope to do so when they’re older. Yuna then introduces and shares to all her friends the pudding she made. Yeah, bet you they’ve never seen such sweet delicacy before. She gets more than she bargained for when Cliff suggests she take Noire to the royal capital since her pudding is comparable to the sweets made there.

Episode 7
What’s better than Yuna having a loli heading to the royal capital together? Why, having 2 lolis! Yup, In addition to Noire, Fina will also join them. WTF, Noire considers Fina her bear rival?! Please, girls. There are enough bears to go around! The long journey has them camping in her makeshift bear house. They also save a caravan from a monster’s attack. Seems Noire knows them: Count Gran Farrengram and his granddaughter, Misa. Wow. Looks like another loli joining in on the bear ride. Finally they reach the royal capital and they part ways. Noire takes them to where her mom lives. They are eagerly greeted by Noire’s older sister. Wait… YOU MEAN THAT’S HER MOM???!!! F*CK!!! SO FREAKING YOUNG! Anyway, Ellalaura welcomes them with open arms. And since she’s got a letter from Cliff not to make enemies out of Yuna, she is of course interested to know more about her. Noire’s older sister, Shia returns. She is freaked out by mom and little sis riding bears in the house! More bearish nightmare when she sees Yuma in person… That’s enough bears for today. Since Shia can’t believe Yuna is Noire’s escort, Ellalaura suggests they duel. To cut things short, Yuna beats her flat. No matter how many retries Shia asks, Yuna still tops her. You believe that she is strong now? All this is part of Ellalaura’s plan to teach Shia a lesson since she has been becoming more arrogant lately. Better know your place. And yeah, Yuna is the same age as her. Yuna then treats them to pudding. Then they head to town to buy some ingredients because Yuna then makes them hamburgers. At first, the royals are horrified with the barbaric way of eating with your bear bare hands! (Pun not intended). But once they throw away the protocol, it’s so much more fun and delicious eating it this way! Royals, nobles or commoners, we are all just human beings, right?! With them hooked, Yuna suggests making pizza but that will have to wait for tomorrow. Yum. Can’t wait. Hey, since when did this series started to become a cooking theme?!

Episode 8
Man, I thought I was watching the wrong show because a criminal sounds like he got beheaded before the king! Dark… Back to the proper show, Yuna makes her promised pizza and everyone is happy with this great dish. Since everyone will be busy doing their own thing, Ellalaura decides to bring Yuna to the castle to kill some time. Yuna learns Ellalaura is quite an important person, playing somewhat a personal assistant to the king! More loli attack since the king’s daughter, Princess Flora wants to show Yuna around the castle! Can’t say no and make a royal loli cry, no? Meanwhile, we see the budding loli friendship between Noire, Fina and Misa. Yeah, they’re forming a secret Yuna fan club and their goal is to get 10,000 members! Damn, those fan club cards are already printed! Later, Yuna heard about the common people worried about monsters attacking in the nearby forests. The attacks are getting more frequent. This is however the work of Gulzam. It’s that criminal. He was actually exiled for conducting inhumane experiments on criminals for the sake of his research. Now he is back and has sacrificed his life to control all the monsters in the name of revenge. The king (damn, does he not look like THE BURGER KING???!!!) summons Sanya who is a top guild member to see what’s going on. What’s this? A bear with bears beating up all the monsters?! I think we know who. Oh sh*t, Yuna making it look so easy! And here I was worried for nothing… I can understand why Gulzam is so disappointed he spent years and sacrificed everything to control the monsters, only for this pipsqueak to defeat them all! Not even the giant worm is of match for her and she punches him out! One punch bear! With Cliff passing by, Yuna forces him to make good his promise and take the credit on her behalf. Returning to the capital, Cliff must be broken hearted when Ellalaura ushers Yuna first than him. Actually she needs to bring her to the king. He learns of Yuna’s exploits and great deeds and much to Yuna’s dismay, everyone vouches for Yuna’s greatness. When the king wants to reward her and announce to the public, Yuna vehemently declines all because she doesn’t want to stand out. The king understands and will just accept Yuna’s reason of defeating those monsters because she was worried about her friend’s father so she defeated them on her way to pick him up. Of course it is also for everyone’s sake. Now the people can sleep easy tonight.

Episode 9
The king has Yuna make pudding for his royal party. Yeah, that sure stole the show. Now that Yuna returns to her normal life, she goes out with Fina because we don’t want to neglect this loli, right? They contemplate of opening a shop but Yuna dismisses it because she won’t have time to go for adventures and this means Fina can’t do her harvesting job. When they decide to go to a bread shop to eat, it seems it is closing down. Morin explains they fell deeper into debt when they obtained the loan from a shady source and can’t repay it. Her husband died from overworking and with her daughter, Karin, they could hardly make ends meet. Yuna invites them back to her home and has them make pizza, hamburgers, bread, etc. Yuna wants them to come work at her shop back at Crimonia since it will be a waste of their talents. Morin isn’t so sure but with gutsy Karin won’t give up so soon, I guess that’s a yes. What else have they got to lose? So Yuna sees Mirein for the right property to get and what does Telmina have to do with all this? Why, she is made to oversee its operations! She is reluctant but does she have a choice?! Yeah, if the illness didn’t kill her, overworking will! And the place Yuna got for them, isn’t it a little too big? Well, it was a noble’s mansion! Don’t worry, they call the orphanage kids to help! I don’t think it’s free labour but I can’t help think so. Anyway, Yuna needs to come up with a name of the shop so as to have it registered. Yeah, everyone has ideas of having the bear word in it. Yuna thinks Mirein has fancy maid or waitress outfits for everyone for the shop. Guess what? BEAR OUTFITS! Since the kids love it, Yuna can’t say no. Majority rules. Finally the shop is named Bear Haven. Should’ve been Bear Mania but whatever. On the first day of business, there’s a long queue! Damn, I swear everyone in town is here to try it out thanks to the word spread by the guild. With the queue getting longer, Yuna tries to help but she gets more anxious. Don’t worry! Everyone is willing to help. And do you see any unruly crowd? Everyone’s patiently waiting their turn. Relax, Yuna! At the end of the day, they sell out everything and Morin makes pudding for everyone as reward. Oh, Noire the last customer to come in. Are there any leftovers?! Maybe this bear outfit… Anyway, the delay is because Cliff was doing the necessary paper work to punish those shady loan sharks and return Morin’s loan document. With this, they can return to the capital and reopen their shop. However they don’t want to move because they already have recurring customers and it will be sad if they closed down and moved back. Okay, your choice. With the shop business settled. Yuna is now free to go adventuring! About time.

Episode 10
Oh my… Yuna has now invented… PHONES!!! I suppose she can keep in touch with Fina while she’s travelling. So what now, Yuna is disappointed with? She thought the royal capital would have Japanese seafood and the sea but there weren’t. So what’s the problem?! CAN’T SHE JUST CREATE THEM HERSELF?! Soon she learns there is a port town, Millela just over the mountainous terrains. Little is known about it because of that natural barrier and it’s not part of the kingdom. And so Yuna treks through the snowy blizzard and finds a married couple stranded. Damon and Yuura are fishermen from Millela and were trying to cross the range to Crimonia to get food. Due to the Kraken hogging the sea recently and thieves stealing their food, Millela is in a rut. Yuna follows them there and everyone is looking too sad to even pay attention to her outfit. Many are outraged at the inflated price of the food since it is scarce. Even Zarrad, the boss of the merchant guild tells them to not buy if they want to complain about the adventurers risking their life to get them this meagre food. With Damon and Yuura returning to their children who are relieved to see them alive, it’s cue for Yuna to help. Yup, she gives them lots of meat in exchange for a place to stay. Next, she goes to see the local guildmaster, Atla who probably has so much time on her hands that she’s drinking in day time. Yuna wants to donate food and at first Atla didn’t believe her as an adventurer. I mean, in that silly bear outfit? Pfft! But when she shows her card containing all her credentials, better believe it now. We’ll gladly accept your help! With lots of free wolf meat to go by, the town’s hunger is satiated for now. Happy townspeople means a happy town. Heh. Yuna now thinks of how to tackle the Kraken and those thieves. The squid is so huge it makes the black viper look like a baby. Obviously fire is its weakness but you know, it’s always submerged in water. Then there’s those thieves who are just freaking elusive. That night, Yuna is awakened by her bears over some intruders. She easily apprehends them. They were told to steal her magic bag but I guess they underestimated her. Because they won’t spill the beans even if it means death, Yuna lets her bears eat them! So… They fear bears more than death? Well, now they spill everything! Safe to say, Yuna heads over to the thieves’ hideout and beats the crap out of all of them. Boy, that was easy. And that’s for her beauty sleep they interrupted!

Episode 11
Yuna brings the bandits to Atla who is in shock what is happening. Yuna can’t sleep yet as Atla needs an explanation. Basically, bear > bandits. That enough for you? Then they have the thieves spill the beans. Obviously the mastermind behind this is Zarrad. Just when he wants to escape, Atla and the rest are here to arrest him. They knew he was a sneaky baddie all along but had no proof. This room where he hid all the stolen treasures will be evidence. The plot goes, when the Kraken appeared, he hired the thieves to block the land routes so as to monopolize the food source and charge a higher price. If Zarrad can go down by a slap, I guess he deserves to be captured. With this incident over, one of the villagers, Ans feed Yuna very Japanese food. Yum! She misses it so much that she is crying while eating! They could have made more of such food if the ingredients by a nearby Japanese-like town was more accessible had the Kraken not be there. Oh yeah. There’s that problem still. So as Yuna goes around town, getting ideas from her surroundings, I know it is impossible based on common sense, but with Yuna’s God-like powers, can’t she just make them possible?! Yeah, she blames lack of sleep for all the stupid ideas. Yuura then invites her to dinner and it is a nabe theme. While more Japanese food, this inspires a great idea for Yuna. She seeks Atla’s help (to protect the Japanese food and not really the townspeople…), as they use a dead giant worm monster as bait to lure the Kraken into a bay. Not sure why Yuna doesn’t just raise the Earth to lock it in instead and used multiple giant bear-like golem statues. With the Kraken trapped, Yuna boils the water in its enclosed space while spamming it with fireballs. Of course the Kraken puts up a fight and is a tough cookie. It also regenerates when its tentacles are cut off. I guess it’s for dramatic effect as we see Yuna getting tired as the battle drags on. She’s running out of power too?! Gasp! But alas, at the end of the day, she finally kills it. The bear wins over the squid. Hooray! Now she can sleep peacefully. Too bad she can’t see how the watching townspeople were cheering on her.

Episode 12
Yuna loves Ans’ Japanese cooking and wants her to open a shop in Crimonia! Ans gives excuses about the travel. So if Yuna can make it easy to travel… Oh no… But that is on hold now as Atla has a request of her. Just when Fina is happy that Yuna is back, too bad can’t spend time with her as she has a job. Sad Fina… Even Noire can’t be with Yuna since her maid drags her away to study. Sad Noire… Yuna sees Cliff as there is an official request from Millela to seek Crimonia’s protection. Cliff of course brings up those mountains. Yuna suggests digging a tunnel. Out of the question. Do you know the time and money it will take? Oh yeah? You forgot about Yuna’s magic? And so she digs a tunnel right through the mountains!!! Cliff takes Mirein to see Atla who herself is shocked that the spokespeople came instead of Yuna just bringing a response letter. Yuna wants out since she has done her part. She insists she doesn’t want to be credited. All agree until Yuna blurts out she just wants to protect her route to easy Japanese food. This amounts to selfishness and greed! Caught you with your pants down, Yuna! Now take responsibility and make a better and sturdier tunnel! Yuna manages to finish and returns home. Happy Fina is waiting but is worried since Yuna wants to make good their promise to head to the beach. Yeah, with easy access to Millela, why not? Along with Shuri, they head there. But Fina’s quality time with Yuna will not materialize as the people of Millela keep bugging to praise her.

When Noire finally visits, it is only Fina at home. She can tell Fina is depressed and tells her off to be more aggressive. Is she not a member of Yuna’s fan club? When Fina receives the much awaited call from Yuna, that happiness is ruined when Yuna happily talks about Ans agreeing to bring her Japanese cooking to Crimonia. Next time Fina talks with Yuna, she requests to take a break because she wants to study more harvesting under Gentz. Uhm, okay. As you wish. And Fina isn’t happy too?! What answer do you want to hear?! With Fina away, it is Yuna’s turn to feel melancholy. With a little talk with Noire, Yuna learns what is happening and knows what to do. Fina’s depression is also getting to Gentz so when he learns her problem, he tells her she is just a 10 year old no matter what. If you want to be with Yuna, just say so. Yeah, I think it is Gentz’s plan to kick Fina out to stay with Yuna so he can finally f*ck Telmina. OH SH*T!!!! Yuna and Fina meet as Yuna tells her that she might not be able to return to her own homeland faraway. She also talks about how her own family and friends never mattered and that’s why she was okay with living alone. Until of course she met Yuna. Long story short, all that time they spent together, she wants them to be together. Gee, same thoughts from Fina. Finally the loli is all smiles! Now they can be together forever and I take it Yuna is not going home or anywhere soon.

Beary Cute But Beary Cliché…
Oh God. I hope that’s the end of it. From the final scene that really spells out a huge ‘THE END’, I take it that means there will not be another sequel? And we’re done with this pretty generic and cliché series? Hopefully. Because I think that the producers have run out of ideas by the time they reach the final episode. Like as though they needed something interesting to kick in and what more can be more interesting than some final episode loli drama? Yup. Turning the last episode into one big depressing episode as out little Fina sorts out her thoughts and feelings for Yuna. After all, she is the first girl under this Yuna friendship. The more friends Yuna makes, I suppose if Fina doesn’t buck up, she’ll find herself down the pecking order! And hence this melancholy of Fina is what we all need to reassure that it will always be Yuna x Fina. The end. Good grief. Kuma. Oh wait. Did they just f*cking announced a second season at the end?! Oh f*ck! Beary sneaky move there… I guess we need more Yuna x Fina and other loli shenanigans…

And so as you would have come to expect, the story isn’t anything extraordinary or spectacular. Just plain ol’ boring clichés. Just in a different form. Basically about Yuna going about in her adventure and help those in need. Over time, she somehow adds and unlocks new powers to her repertoire. Yeah, there isn’t anything much, really. But I have to admit, despite I was bored with this kind of plot and storyline, I was somewhat kept amused because of all the really overpowered moves Yuna could make at the snap of her fingers. So boring but amusing that there is practically no danger at all to our heroine and her immediate surroundings. The closest that came to that was the appearance of Gulzam. So I thought, finally we have somebody who could at least give Yuna a run for her money. Someone as powerful as her to provide some interesting or at least decent fight. How wrong I was. This guy wasn’t even close to being a threat of a fly buzzing around your face! I should’ve known better that the same kind of outcome would have played out. Once again, Yuna with her overpowered abilities, overpowering everything to her favour. It all ended before it could even start. Sheesh. Imagine my disappointed when that threat ended so quickly. And so I learnt not to expect the rest of the series to have any sort of such endangerment. Hence the Kraken one was all within expectations. Even if it was, it was only for dramatic effect and nothing serious or impactful on the overall.

Speaking of Yuna being overpowered, yeah, I suppose that is the main focus of this series. So I am also guessing that they were trying to make her being such a perfect character because she has her own flaws. That she isn’t really God to begin with. Oooohhh… So down to earth. I’m sure we can all relate to Yuna. Not. Honestly if I was in her shoes, I wouldn’t mind wearing a silly bear outfit if I can have all the overpowered abilities at my paws and disposal. Heck, I’d even wear a skimpy bikini and walk around town close in my birthday suit and being labelled a pervert if it gives me more God-like powers. Damn, the trade-off is so insignificant and I’m sure many others would have thought the same way. And yeah, they make it such a huge deal that the townspeople are in shock when they see a woman wearing a bear outfit. I know it is a novelty but it can’t be that shocking. CAN IT???!!! What? This land has no anime where no cute girls dress up as a cat girl or doggy girl or bunny girl?! Hahaha!!! Don’t kids in this world wear such animal pyjamas to bed? Apparently not. Uh huh. I bet they’ll be in further shock if they see a girl in an elephant suit. Suit. But thank goodness Yuna’s bear suit just looks pretty normal. It would be mindf*ck if it looked like that bear from Danganronpa! Yikes!

Adding to Yuna not being all that perfect is her earlier tendencies to rush in and help others. Take the one in case, Cliff’s case. She was quick to judge him and wanted some sort of swift action against all the things she perceived as injustice in her own mind, she didn’t use her grey matter and think. In the end, it is a good thing that things turned out for the better and hopefully Yuna learnt her lesson and will be a little more mature after this. So yeah, this is one of the very few minor blots in Yuna’s impeccable life as an adventurer, which is otherwise so negligible that it doesn’t really matter at all. But I had to point this out because Yuna isn’t the next God of anime to worship (like Haruhism, maybe) and everything else was so boring and cliché that this was one of the few things that particularly ‘stand out’. That, in the loosest term too.

It is a good thing that Yuna can be considered a simple person because she wants nothing more than to adventure and to eat good food. Good nostalgic Japanese food. Yeah don’t worry. They somewhat have it here in this world too. Sometimes I keep wondering if this series is a mini cooking show with some of the foods that were subtly highlighted (damn, she dumbfounded the people of this world with pudding). In the later episodes it almost turned into a cooking show and we got Yuna to run a shop. I suppose Yuna has no goals of taking over the culinary world here and what more, taking over the world. Because with Yuna being so overpowered, it looks like she has this bored look on her face as everything comes so easy for her. Don’t have something? Let her check her arsenal. Can she create it? Yes? There you go. So yeah, Yuna being easy going may sometimes come off as an insult to others because she had it easy. But I guess she can’t be hated since she saved everyone’s ass from monsters from time to time so I guess we have to be grateful to this bear woman. Even in the event if Yuna can’t easily create something from scratch, I figure it’s because the producers didn’t really think this out because she should have. I mean, she’s already take away the easy way out so what do you mean she can’t do for this one?! Lazy writing…

The other thing that you might be wondering if this Crimonia world is it a game world or an isekai. Oh yeah. That dreaded theme again. It might be the former because as we see as early as the second episode, Yuna was playing a game. Then somehow she got stuck in this one and couldn’t get out. Whether it was the lamest excuse ever or no excuse at all, it is the setting in which Yuna somehow came and got trapped in this world and a bear outfit as well. Not sure if God (or system admin) actually pulled a prank on her with this new game or isekai. It’s not really clear at that point and certainly at this point we don’t care. And the other thing that might bug you about Yuna is that she is such a genius and rich kid, hence the lamest excuse ever not to go to school and spend her time playing games. How does she earn money that she can proudly say it is hers? Why, play the stock market, baby! Stocks! STOCKS! STONKS! Damn, she makes it look so easy playing the stocks. Buy, buy, buy. Sell, sell, sell. Oh well. Simpletons like us won’t understand stock genius Yuna’s thinking. We can only envy her. And what about grandpa’s worry? Can she not just by a place of her own and ditch grandpa?! Oh right. We need to see her having some sort of relatives so we too can somewhat relate to. Not.

That’s why it’s like the final episode, they f*ck everything about whether or not this world is an isekai or game because Yuna doesn’t care about going home now. No friends or family she cares enough to return. The greatest excuse for Yuna to stay and make a few of her loli followers happy. Should have not given us this background of Yuna in the first place if they were going to ignore and forget it like that but I guess if they didn’t, we’re going to b*tch about Yuna’s origins. Right, right, right. You want to know about Yuna’s background? Here’s your flimsy back story of how she got stuck in this game and ridiculous bear outfit. There. Satisfied? Now can we move on to more Yuna greatness and clichés? Yeah… So f*ck her own real world and f*ck whoever God or system admin’s plans for putting Yuna here. As long as the lolis are happy, everybody’s happy. Sort of.

So basically what I want to say about Yuna, that’s all particularly it. A very clichéd main character and heroine in one of the most hated genres and tropes in today’s anime world. I mean, you can’t totally like that kind of character but you can’t totally hate her too. She’s not particularly a character that is badly written but there is nothing more that makes us want to throw our support behind her or find her somewhat likeable. Sure, blame the overpowered factor thingy. But still, it’s not like you’ll fall in love with her character at first sight or as the series progresses. But hey, better than making enemies out of her!

And as for the other characters, pretty meh and forgettable. I’m not sure if the creator of this series love bears so much (I mean, the entire title had nothing but bears!!!!) but at the same time has fetish for lolis. Yeah. Lots of lolis in this show. At least those who would become Yuna’s friend or fan club member. Fina. Sidekick loli. Shuri. Sidekick loli’s little sister (I think that trip to get the flower, turning her into a curious loli was just to freaking showcase her cute loli side. Kyun~). Noire. Noble loli. Flora. Royal loli. Misa. Count loli. Those orphanage kids. Great, more lolis. Do some of them even matter? But don’t worry. We have some mature ladies here too. Telmina. Sick lady. Ellalaura. Mother that looks like your sister. Shia. Arrogant girl. Mirein. Business lady. Lurina. Magician girl. Helen. Receptionist girl. Atla. Tough warrior chick. Did I miss out any? I think I did. But who cares? I’m done.

Male characters don’t make much impact but if I had to pick the closest one, it would be Cliff. He isn’t your usual noble or politician who are famed for lining up their pockets. So while this guy is pretty cool, too bad he isn’t the main character so that’s about it. Too bad he also gets side-lined by his wife. Sad… Gentz tries to be a good uncle to Fina but now that he has got Telmina to take care off, I guess we leave Fina in Yuna’s hands. Remember that Deborane dude? Yeah, it was amusing at first to see Yuna making stupid puns of his name and pissing off but I guess we need to move on and not make this a running joke. Deborane goblin goner. Haha. Oops, sorry. Bad pun. Anyway, due to the nature of this series, many of the characters are forgettable and appear only for a certain mini story arc before falling back into obscurity. After all, a certain bear woman is the main focus.

Art and animation are pretty standard affair too. Everything here looks cute because I suppose we need to fall in love with bears and lolis. With Yuna’s bear familiars looking so damn cute, we have to change our mind-set that bears are not particularly dangerous animals! Everything else here is also colourful and bright that this series might fit being a children’s show. The only eyebrow raiser is how the king of Crimonia looks very closely like Burger King’s mascot. My conspiracy theory would’ve been closer to completion had he preferred Yuna’s burgers over pudding. I wonder if the next kingdom has Ronald the clown as their leader or something… This series is produced by EMT Squared who did Assassins Pride, Renai Boukun, Nyanko Days, Ame-iro Cocoa, Boku No Tonari Ni Ankoku Hakaishin Ga Imasu and Fudanshi Koukou Seikatsu.

Voice acting isn’t anything special. A few recognizable seiyuus like Koji Yusa as Cliff and it was pleasant to hear Kana Asumi as Atla as I haven’t been hearing much of her lately. She isn’t in her usual trademark silly voice but I could still recognize her. Akira Ishida as the king of Crimonia, I find his casting to be quite unsuitable. I thought a lower and mellower voice would suit as the king and Akira Ishida’s voice made him sound like a young teen or something. Oh well, if the king already looks like the mascot of Burger King… Also, I thought it was loli specialist Yui Ogura behind Noire but it turns out to be the other loli specialist whom I can’t seem to remember from time to time, Rina Hidaka (Last Order in To Aru Majutsu No Index series). The other casts are Maki Kawase as Yuna (Yakumo in Val x Love), Azumi Waki as Fina (Maika in Blend S), Yuiko Tatsumi as Ellalaura (Mio in Little Busters), Inori Minase as Shia (Hestia in DanMachi), Satoshi Tsuruoka as Gentz (Caster in Fate/Zero), Yuuko Kurose as Mirein (Sotoka in Hitoribocchi No Marumaru Seikatsu), Miyu Tomita as Shuri (titular character in Gabriel Dropout), Satomi Amano as Misa (Tamaki in Tamayomi) and Yume Miyamoto as Telmina (Rikka in SSSS.Gridman).

The opening theme, Itsuka No Kioku by Azumi Waki is your typical generic upbeat anime song. Nothing special. Nothing that cute either. Speaking of cuteness, then it might be the ending theme that takes the cake. Ano Ne by Maki Kawase has all the ingredients and beat that makes the song cute in its own right. Well, I have to admit that I like this song slightly better compared to the opening. Evident is that I find myself humming certain lines of the song from time to time.

Overall, this is not entirely a bad anime but if you managed to bear all the clichés this is just basically a very standard affair. Nothing really new and just the bear bare necessities. Bear-ly exciting in any ways too. Heh. Sorry. I just wanted to make a few bear puns so as not to make this whole thing a boring affair. So if you’re not bear-phobic and at the same time love lolis, I guess this series is for you. Overpowered shield girl to overpowered normal girl, now we have overpowered bear girl to add to that list. If you can’t get enough of bears, there are a few other cute animes with cute bears in its theme like Kuma Miko. Sort of. Not sure about Yuri Kuma Arashi and Shirokuma Café since I didn’t see those. But I still think the cutest bear characters are Care Bears. Yeah, I grew up on that so sue me. But I guess having a character in such a plain bear suit can’t be such a bad thing. Want to know what is worse than that? A character in a Pedo Bear suit!!! OMFG!!!!!!!!! PEDO PEDO PEDO BEAR!!! Watch out here he comes! Oh boy when that happens, HIDE ALL YOUR LOLIS!!! That would have been utmost unbearable…
